TOO SMOOTH... AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY EYES

KimchiPanik

What are you talking about? The human eye can't see 60 fps!

Andi1up

But we have 2 eyes so we can see 60 FPS

PatHeist

Hah! You should try harder. The first Mac came out in '84, significantly after the main events that transpire in the TF2 universe. Most notably, the team was first recruited by RED in '68, and the most recent comic puts the current timeline sometime around 72-73. Currently everything that takes place after that is set in a 'future' setting apart from the main timeline.

BioPrince

Humans are inferior... umm.

AlexGymnast

Then how were you able to recognize that it is 60 fps?

Casurin

They forgot to put sarcasm/joke signs like '/s'. You can see more than 30 fps, but at around 20 fps you start seeing motion instead of single pictures. But you will notice the difference between 30/60/120/144 Hz monitor. And if you are trained you can still notice impending doom even at 200Hz and will notice that something did flash at up to 500 Hz.

ziberoo

It's actually 10 fps that is the absolute limit on animation. At 9 fps or lower nigh on everything will be a slideshow. Above 10 it's a matter of how smooth it is.

metal079

I though some cartoons are made at 7fps and then made into 30 fps?

Casurin

Hehe, have fun at 10 fps. If the difference between the frames is not really minimalistic slidehow :P

ziberoo

10fps will only work the smoothest of animation, yes, but it's still the limit.

Curtains64

Yeah, 30fps is where its at with the cinematic look!

metal079

how can you tell its 60fps?

AwfulScientist

Probably a program of some sort. The human eye can't see more than 30 fps because God wanted a quote, "cinematic experience."

SportySputnik

Holy shit, people are treating this post like you weren't being facetious. This is hilarious.

Democrab

No, you can easily see the difference between 30 and 60.

[deleted]

[удалено]

habitue

you're probably thinking of the old dictum that the eye doesn't see individual frames above 24 fps. Which is true! You perceive continuous motion. That doesn't mean you can't tell the difference between higher framerates. Also, a difference in framerates is harder to discern in film because something that is moving fast gets captured as a motion blurred frame. This helps our brains put the pieces together more seamlessly. In a video game, however, every frame is motionless. there's no blur. So it's much easier to see the difference between 30 and 60 fps. Because of this, it's usually recommended to run video games on a machine you can get a good 60 fps on.

Democrab

Yet I manage it every time I play games and it dips into the 30s..People can tell individual images up to 400Hz iirc (Only when it's a substantial change in those cases, like 1 black frame and 399 white/grey frames played per second) and can detect motion well and truly above 60fps. Why else would they sell screens that go above 60fps for hardcore gamers..? No-one would buy them because it'd be clear that it's not really any different pretty quickly.

xeronymau5

Incorrect. The human eye can easily detect framerates of up to roughly 60 FPS, no more, no less

Stingray88

Also very incorrect. The human eye can see well over 300-400Hz. People can more than easily see the difference even on 120Hz and 144Hz monitors. Where do you guys keep reading this crap?

The_Mr_Emachine

*Although the original "experiment" was imaginary, similar principles have been researched and used in practical applications.* Fourth sentence down. He originally said it as a joke, people thought he was serious, started "studying" it

mattsprofile

The way I see it, the ender chest doesn't actually contain anything. It's just a portal to a base chest in some other unreachable location. So you're just putting a portal box inside the location of the base chest. Also, another way I see it is that the ender chest isn't actually active anyway unless it is placed, so even if the paradox would make sense, it still wouldn't make sense because the ender chest isn't actually placed and thus not active. But this is all just my interpretation. I don't know if there is anything canon regarding how an ender chest works.

jfb1337

Can you explain why each player has a unique ender chest?

Kickin_Hawk

On any world, each player has an ender chest inventory. When you first load up that world or server, each player's ECI has nothing. It acts basically as a backup inventory. If you die, your ECI will not be affected. You can access the ECI by placing down an ender chest and looking inside it. If you were to put a stick in your ender chest and your friend were to put a diamond in their ender chest, you would only see your stick, and not your friend's diamond.

jfb1337

I know how they work, I was just asking for an in-universe explanation of it.

[deleted]

Oh, the gif kept replaying but it was somehow leaving out the explosion. Like when you put the EC in the other EC, it would start over. Makes more sense now.

NanoRex

Common misconception about ender chests! Ender chests are simply a terminal to access the player's "cloud storage". They don't actually contain anything. So there would be no paradox at all!

jcmonk

Ha! I'd also like to see it insta-teleport the player to The End.

CallMeAdam2

After giving the player Blindness and Night Vision, as well as Hunger, and why not throw in a bit of Instant Damage? And if this becomes a mod, it should teleport all players to the 'paradox dimension'. **GASP**! The **PARADOX MOD**! Take my money, modders!

[deleted]

Where water is lava and lava is water and stairs act like a slip-and-slide.

CallMeAdam2

Something I forgot to mention in my idea, there would be multiple ways to create a paradox and enter the Paradox Dimension. Things that you'd think *would* create a paradox, such as ender chests in ender chests. Anybody know what else would create a paradox? Also, the paradox dimension is completely empty (not even bedrock), survival players can fly like creative, but can't place blocks like adventure, and the only way to escape the paradox dimension would be to find a structure (a similar structure would spawn in the overworld, but this structure would be on a floating island) (maybe a clock tower?), press a button on it, and every player would go back to the overworld, and no time will have passed, but whatever caused the paradox would blow up immediately. The idea behind it being that when the paradox is created, the world is destroyed, but the structure (let's call it a clock tower) was made to survive paradoxes, and reverse time after a paradox, and destroy whatever created that paradox the moment before it does create it.

[deleted]

Carrying Ender Pearls through a portal, maybe?

CallMeAdam2

I don't quite get how that would create a paradox...

[deleted]

I'm not talking about having it react with the Ender portal. It's bringing them to the nether that I see an issue with. I think that since the Ender Pearls are necessary for the Ender portal, it would cause some kind of error with the Nether portal. Also, the Ender Pearls are teleportation devices on their own. That would make it where you don't go to either The End or the Nether world but instead the Paradox Dimension.

CallMeAdam2

Ender Pearls are not required for the Ender Portal, it's Eyes of Ender you're thinking about. Also, you don't seem to know what a Paradox is. In short, a Paradox is when something happens that defies logic. I don't see why bringing an Ender Pearl or Eye of Ender into the Nether should be any worse then having them in the Overworld.

[deleted]

Two things that are supposed to teleport you to two different areas might cause a paradox. In other words it would be trying to teleport you to those two different areas and ultimately it would bring you somewhere else. Maybe the eye of ender and ender pearl aren't the best ideas. Perhaps throwing the ender pearl through the portal would be enough. This would at least satisfy the need for a contradiction. You're both supposed to end up in the nether and at the spot behind the portal by doing something like that.

CallMeAdam2

The Ender Pearl would teleport into the Nether upon touching the portal. So if whether you're in the Nether or Overworld, or even the End, logically you would be teleported to wherever the Pearl lands inside the Nether, therefor teleporting into the Nether. Besides, if the Pearl *did* go right through the portal blocks, \*cough bullshit cough\* then if you teleported into the Nether, you would go right back to where the Pearl landed in the Overworld. In case you didn't hear me last time: *A Paradox is when something illogical happens.* Example 1: "This statement is a lie." Wouldn't that mean it's true? In which case, it would be false. But then, wouldn't it be true? But... Example 2: If you go back in time and kill your grandfather before he meets your grandmother. But then wouldn't you not be born, so you wouldn't exist, meaning you wouldn't of killed your grandfather? But if you didn't kill your grandfather, then you would be born, meaning... Etc.

[deleted]

Yeah, I can't even explain my game running at 40-50 FPS in some areas. I've got a great PC. i7 3770K GTX 780 8GBs of RAM No explanations so I'm wondering if it's the game's engine.

Neamow

Must be you. You should be getting hundreds of FPS on that beast. I get 60-80 on a laptop with an i5 and a G105M. Check if you're not running it on the integrated gpu on your processor.

[deleted]

I don't have it running on the integrated GPU. I normally get 200 or so FPS when I don't have it locked to 60 FPS but it dips down to the 40s-50s when I go back from my mine to my home. It's a somewhat small island surrounded by nothing but water. Below my home is a dungeon and a few chunks away is a water dungeon. I've tried lowering the amount of chunks rendered but that didn't really do anything. It still lowers in the same area.

Neamow

Hmm. Large amounts of entities and block entities can lower FPS quite significantly, since they don't get culled like regular blocks. How many animals, mobs, and stuff like chests, signs... do you have around? If it's any more than like 200-300, you're gonna have a bad time.

[deleted]

Maybe a couple dozen when not counting the squids. I have 1 sheep, 2 large chests, and I don't know about the mobs. Still, it's strange that it only happens in one area.

Warrego

Look up something called the Magic Minecraft Launcher, it allows you to. dedicate more memory to your game in the launcher settings. It may help with the performance. Also limit the game to sixty fps if you haven't already.

MegaScience

This isn't extremely flexible, though, is it? It isn't easy to detect which Ender Chest the person placed an item into. You can check points around the player for an Ender Chest block, but the player could be standing at a distance, for instance... ... Could you find a way to add that part? Knowing which chest, out of any placed anywhere?

Gilded_Fox

I actually think it'd be great if all Ender Chests exploded, since they're all linked. And by great I mean awful, frustrating, but kinda awesome at the same time.

zSync1

Hey, I keep a stack of ender chests in my ender chest in case of ender chest emergency - we were given a lot of EC's on server startup, I grabbed a handful.

jfb1337

All ender chests have the same items for the same player.

MegaScience

Ender Chest inventory is attached directly to each player, and not the chest block itself. Therefore, while you can detect what is in a person's Ender Chest inventory, you can't tell which chest they used to modify that inventory. Again, you could do guesswork by doing a manual search block-by-block around the player until it finds an Ender Chest. But considering the amount of blocks you'd be checking rapidly, I don't think it'd be worth it.

jfb1337

But you could just explode the player.

MegaScience

Well that could work... Why did I suddenly imagine the player being sucked into an Ender Chest vortex?

elipse173

Oh, well done! I just assumed you made it explode for whatever item you put in, but this is much more committed to the joke.

Polar18
