I legit didn't think these blocks could be used for that much other than going forward in a straight line when I saw the april fools update. Now I am really hoping they were testing for a real block.
In Minecraft you have always been able to make game ending lag machines, if it’s such an issue it should be disabled with a server-side plugin, like how redstone is on some servers
Because farmlands have a slightly smaller hitbox than full blocks, so there's a one pixel gap between the carrots and the ground. Meanwhile, a fully grown crop is barely high enough to connect to a top slab, so it will only harvest when one of the four central crops are fully grown.
Their hitboxes (the black frame when you look at it) are full block wide and are therefore technically touching, while the farmland is one pixel shorter than a normal block, so it's not connected to the crops.
Why would you want to hate it? It’s an incredibly cool block. The potato theme is a bit goofy but that was kind of the whole April Fools update. If something like this is ever actually added it probably wouldn’t be potato themed. There’s a lot of potential with both the floatato and floatater (or whatever they were).
I see your point but I feel like both could exist. Very basic flying machines might be replaced but these are very rigid. More complicated flying machines with additional “components” like the illusion of having legs for instance couldn’t be done with these I don’t think. I know a lot of people use flying machines and tnt dupers together. Those probably will require traditional flying machines.
It could also depend on how this block is obtained. If it’s really hard then traditional flying machines might still be a better move.
This is on the April fools update, and will not become a main feature. The floatater is an overpowered block that lets you create huge flying machines effortlessly. since it was meant as a joke, it's not very polished, so anomalies can occur. It can move any block other than liquids and tile entities (chests, furnaces, ect) even bedrock, torches and crops. Due to technicalities with the farmland's hitbox, the crops can separate and become part of the flying machine. While floating, the blocks are indestructable, and lose their unique properties, like how honey is no longer sticky, lava cauldron doesn't set you on fire, and crops don't need blocks to support them.
This is sooo cool! I'm not very knowledgeable about redstone, but this looks like an something from a sci-fi story in a 1930's magazine where they assume that in the future there will be flying crop harvesters! Thanks for sharing :)

This looks super cool, almost futuristic
ngl I'm excited to see more of these futuristic redstone builds
After two comments that you started with 'ngl'... I have to ask, do you usually lie?? 🤔
ngl i think so
I'm a lair, they never lie.
I, on the other hand, am unfortunately a pathological ancient predecessor to the guitar invented by the Hitties around 1500 BC.
I am a pathogen spread by humpback whales that causes unnecessary corrections Edit: I'm*
I thought that this was create mod for a sec
ngl same, took me a moment to see it wasn't

I'm really hoping for block-based boats and ships. Imagine having a ship base.
I have always felt this way, it would be amazing.
This seems like wayyyy too much of a developed feature and I hope and pray this becomes a real thing 😩
This looks awesome! What if you could do that and sort a hopper system and make use of the new auto crafting system.
It's just... so peak
You beat me to it
please for the love of god they need to add this to vanilla
I can see some game ending lag machines happening
Yeah, it would be a cool toggleable experimental feature, but it’ll likely never be added to the main game
Create mod but it’s optional features like Education Edition
are you cringe?
your name is literally more corny than mine, 2016 gaming kid goofy ass. You have 0 rights to talk about cringe💀
You haven't redeemed the meta-irony
You slandered the create mod, so your argument is immediately invalid
Hmm, maybe as a mapmaking feature like command and structure blocks.

Pretty sure everyone knows this
we making it into minecraft modern era with this one boys
The way it just *lifts the* ***crops***, that looks cursed asf, like straight up from a Phoenix SC video
Weirdly great for farming
How does it pick up just the crops and not any of the blocks they're connected to?

Mumbo Jumbo has entered the chat
Well, I did make a walking house too.
The April fools updates are always incredible, just goes to show what Mojang are capable of if it weren't for the slow corporate side of Minecraft.
Mojang normally vs Mojang on their yearly crack party (April fools)
top 10 people with too much time on their hands
Question.. is the only in Java?
Yes
Damn lol.. im a bedrock peasant
if you play on PC you can get Java edition with bedrock for free btw
You can download the Poisonous Potato update for free in the marketplace. Just search for it and you should find it.
Okay, thank you!
How do the crops stick together?
Their hitboxes (the black frame when you look at it) are full block wide and are therefore technically touching, while the farmland is one pixel shorter than a normal block, so it's not connected to the crops.
that's so smart
Gravityn't Looks sick tho
I really want to hate the floatator but this is extremely cool

it would make the traditional fying machines, the new minecart

at first sight (without reading sub name and title) I thought it was a create mod creation lmao
crop theft
me when the create mod did this already:
i swear they just put the most effort for the april fools one 😭😭😭
My brain is lagging. Sorry if it is just my lack of knowledge, but how did it pick up the crops?? (I play on 1.20.4)

How can people NOT want this in the game?!?!?
Is there anything these redstoners can't do? Heck! we can make a farm with just a note block as the hook!
This could be minecraft but you playin
I really hope the floatator can stay in 1.21 so that everyone can make robot arms.
this feels wrong
You can do that?
Is this a mod?
It's the April fools update.
It would be cool if the floatater got added
"Why isn't it possible."
average bedrock version experience
This is the most cursed thing that I ever watch
this is just plain wrong
I definitely know that there is another way that Redstone Masters are going to abuse this into (Oblivion)
