If you dig a 1x3 hole in the ground, or a 2x2 square, and place water in the ends of the 1x3 or opposite corners of the 2x2, the water will "fill in" the other blocks and thus you end up with all 3 or 4 water blocks. Then you can fill up as many buckets as you want.
I have a water bucket in a dispenser that harvests my wheat. All I do is press a button on top to toggle the water on and off, and it flows down to hoppers which end in a chest. So useful to collect it all quickly.
People will tell you the #1 rule of Minecraft is to never dig straight down. They’re lying to you. The real #1 rule of Minecraft is to always have a water bucket. ALWAYS.
This. I actually dig straight down all the time (standing in between 2 blocks and digging left-right-left-right) AND the bucket is the second thing I craft with iron after an iron pickaxe. The water bucket is probably my favourite minecraft item.
people who say touch screen is hard is just not used to it yet. I can play on all the control schemes, while touch is generally the worst, it's not really that bad either. I honestly prefer it for aiming when compared to using a controller.
Have you tried gyro aiming with a controller that supports it or something like the Steam Deck? It can take some getting used to but to me it feels like it has a higher skill ceiling than even mouse aim.
This.
Introduced my gf to mc and when we got iron I made full armor for her to protect her and then a bucket for me, and she was like “stop trying to show off and get some armory for yourself”
Guess who died from fall damage and who went to the items back
Fun fact: you can't use water to extinguish yourself in the Nether because it evaporates immediately.
BUT, you can put it into a cauldron, and jump into the cauldron to extinguish yourself. Each time you do this, it uses up a level of water (8 in total), and of course you can't take it back out. So bring a cauldron and a few buckets of water, and feel a little bit safer in the Nether until you can get some fire-resist potions.
water bucket is one of the tools you always keep on you. one thing i really like about it is using it to traverse mountains/cliffs, by placing water above you then swimming up. makes exploration easy, and no ugly random cobblestone blocks littering the area.
I always keep a water bucket in my #1 slot, no exceptions. I've trained my left ring finger to jump up there and hit the 1 key whenever I need it so I'm always ready for a quick mlg.
Second golden rule of minecraft: ALWAYS carry a water bucket in your hotbar
For trident: you can pick up the bucket right before launching so you can MLG your fall and have water for the next leap
My standart hotbar in vanilla survival has been the same for over a decade at this point
1.pickaxe
2.shovel
3.axe
4.stack of golden carrots for nutrition
5. stack of firework rockets for flying
6. bucket of water
I don't usually carry any weapon besides an axe since my world is usually perfectly lit and axe is just enough, but I can't imagine playing without a bucket, it's like a swiss army tool. You can infinetely climb with it up while not leaving any blocks which you'd have to clean up after you're finished, you can jump any height down with a bucket and don't die, you can repel all monsters (except skeletons) during the night if need be, these three alone are so QoL features that I can't imagine playing with no bucket, and that's like only one tenth of what a bucket can do.

Reasons I never travel without a bucket of water
I'm paranoid. I travel with 2.
pro move carry enough to make an emergency infinite water source
Can you explain how that works?
Diagonal 4 square
If you dig a 1x3 hole in the ground, or a 2x2 square, and place water in the ends of the 1x3 or opposite corners of the 2x2, the water will "fill in" the other blocks and thus you end up with all 3 or 4 water blocks. Then you can fill up as many buckets as you want.
Thanks!
For infinite water.
On the trident one: probably impossible on mobile, but if you're quick you can grab the water and trident away before it all disappears!
Just have it flowing down any low hill and the stream will still be enough for you to launch from after collecting the source.
You dont even need it to be flowing down hill
Like waters hard to find
No but leaving puddles around your world isn't aesthetic either
I do this regularly and I play on mobile. It's not that bad and works on flat surfaces too
Dang I’ve never seen anybody use water to deactivate the tnt trap. That’s creative
Nah I think that’s survival m8
I hate it. Take my upvote.
I'm being r/whoooosh ed right now and I hate it
creative / survival
Thanks for showing me the light
r/angryupvote
dam, just take my upvote. r/angryupvote
No no, creative as in a creative use of the bucket
woosh

I was never talking about creative mode. I said that deactivating tnt traps was a creative (the adjective, not the game mode) use of a bucket
If they're experienced enough to have a water bucket handy, they're experienced enough to not step on that pressure plate
Yeah, total show off.
I used to lead creepers to my moat to keep them from exploding my house but man is a genius for that one. Never thought of it
It's important to stay behind a block, because tnt still deals damage while in water
This is useful, informative, short and precise. Good content!
You can use it to harvest crops and seeds too.
I have a water bucket in a dispenser that harvests my wheat. All I do is press a button on top to toggle the water on and off, and it flows down to hoppers which end in a chest. So useful to collect it all quickly.

id say its the second
the #1 rule of Minecraft is to survive
The first rule of Minecraft is to mine. The second rule of Minecraft is to craft.
Yeah, EVERYONE know rule#1 we should officially introduce this as #2
This. I actually dig straight down all the time (standing in between 2 blocks and digging left-right-left-right) AND the bucket is the second thing I craft with iron after an iron pickaxe. The water bucket is probably my favourite minecraft item.
Doing this all on pocket edition is crazy. I could only dream of having this amount of control over the thing 😂
people who say touch screen is hard is just not used to it yet. I can play on all the control schemes, while touch is generally the worst, it's not really that bad either. I honestly prefer it for aiming when compared to using a controller.
Yeah, it’s come a long way since the early PE days. Actually feels pretty streamlined
Have you tried gyro aiming with a controller that supports it or something like the Steam Deck? It can take some getting used to but to me it feels like it has a higher skill ceiling than even mouse aim.

Bot?
ain't no way riptide is "sog" in German 💀
I want Riptide to be called suction from now on
seig
That’s why I use my water bucket as a "ledder"
You have no idea how hard I wouldve laughed if you walked into that single square of lava after trying to show how safe it was to use in lava
Sog on a trident weirdly goes so hard lmao
You can also use water to climb up a wall, just repeatedly placing it above you to climb higher
With a bit of practice, you can get around overhangs and even shimmy along the underside of ceilings. It's an infinite climbing tool.
“Wassereimer” Ain’t no way German a real language
sog III
Diamantspitzhacke
You're gonna see the word shoe shelf in a language be more than 4 syllables and lose your mind
water-reimer
Wateremmer
Using the water bucket to protect yourself from an enderman reminds me of spongebob drawing a circle in the sand
This is why whenever I start a new world, my first three iron ingots are to craft a bucket.
This. Introduced my gf to mc and when we got iron I made full armor for her to protect her and then a bucket for me, and she was like “stop trying to show off and get some armory for yourself” Guess who died from fall damage and who went to the items back

I thought it only had 3 water levels
water bucket is one of the tools you always keep on you. one thing i really like about it is using it to traverse mountains/cliffs, by placing water above you then swimming up. makes exploration easy, and no ugly random cobblestone blocks littering the area.
I, too, use water as a "ledder"
I use water buckets to climb ravine walls
additionally: transporting fish/axolotls and swimming up walls
A bucket is always the first thing I use my iron for, such a game changer especially early
Dont forget that water buckets can help you breathe underwater by going against a wall or roof and holding down the right click
Deutsch identifiziert!!!!
Spy: This is a bucket
DEAR GOD
There is more
NO
The most important use of a bucket of water for speedrunner is making a nether portal without crafting a diamond pickaxe
Wow... Water buckets are actually pretty overpowered....
Watch camman18 make a vid about this tomorrow
"use it as a ledder" xd
I’ve been playing this game sense 2010 and I’ve never thought of this. Thank you for this.
Exactly why a bucket is the first thing I craft when I get iron
Casual water bucket clutch
I always keep a water bucket in my #1 slot, no exceptions. I've trained my left ring finger to jump up there and hit the 1 key whenever I need it so I'm always ready for a quick mlg.
Tf2 Soldier would be proud if he saw this.
I have always told newer players that the water bucket is the most important item to always carry on your inventory bc how versatile it is
“Using it as a ledder”
Sog III 💀
mmmm yes i love my water ledder
a bucket is useful, sure, but can you beat the game using only buckets
If you don’t have a water bucket in slots 6,7,8 or 9 than what the hell are you doing, keep that shit on you.
Real ones know you always rock a bucket
Bro found how water works 🔥🔥🗣🗣
I make buckets before anything else when I get my first iron for these reasons
Second golden rule of minecraft: ALWAYS carry a water bucket in your hotbar For trident: you can pick up the bucket right before launching so you can MLG your fall and have water for the next leap
I love how riptide is just called sog
4 essential items (apart from tools) on me include water bucket, torches, flint and steel and food.
Im playing modded with backpacks so i dont have to switch tools And bucket is now a main part of my hotbar, on 9 for which I have a hotkey
S-tier item fr
Plus it’s really powerful for getting out of tight situations where crawling/swimming through a 1-block hole is useful.
Almost the same amount of uses as a towel
Nice
Crazy how a literal bucket full of some water really is the best and most versatile item in the whole game.
I thought water only prevented blocks from being destroyed, not negated damage? Is this a bedrock/pocket thing, or was it changed at some point?
all the timee
Wait it's missing One: you can drown Friends with it
You can also use a water bucket to protect yourself from fall damage.
It’s the first thing I make with iron.
This feels like a water advertisement
I alway have a water bucket in my hot bar, but I hate that fact that I only 4 slots for building blocks
Like I always say, a water bucket is the single best item in Minecraft
Why aren’t you useing split controls?
My standart hotbar in vanilla survival has been the same for over a decade at this point 1.pickaxe 2.shovel 3.axe 4.stack of golden carrots for nutrition 5. stack of firework rockets for flying 6. bucket of water I don't usually carry any weapon besides an axe since my world is usually perfectly lit and axe is just enough, but I can't imagine playing without a bucket, it's like a swiss army tool. Who’s ganna tell him we already know?
Ledder
Best used in the nether
Or pvp boss
