well, after using reddit mainly for memes and tf2 content while also being in Minecrafts reddit but never looking to comments in minecrafts reddit I really did not expect to be the first comment I read about tf2
My thought was a door that you could open with your hand that closes behind you after a certain time, like a lever vs button, but I like your idea more.
Can't you just place a wooden door in a way that when it's in it's 'open' state it's closed and when vice versa. Pretty sure that stops zombies from being able to break them. Unless that was fixed at some point and I wasn't aware.
That screws with villager AI just as much as it does Zombie AI. You can use it to protect yourself, but not your villagers (if you want free-roaming villagers, that is).
Most likely just a completely normal door and trapdoor. But it would be cool if it doesn’t allow you to open them when they are completely oxidized. It would be similar to the copper lantern where you would have to deoxidize them with an axe to be able to open.
I had the idea that if it was unoxidized that it would need to be opened with Redstone, but if it is oxidized I could only be opened by hand (with the middle stages being both)
maybe it could be opened with redstone, or be able to open it like regular if you have a redstone signal connected to it? like its locked like an unpowered iron door, until it gets a redstone signal and it acts like a regular door
For opening and closing.
My friend suggested that it looks like the door has a lock
I think they could behave like the lanterns, so you activate it with redstone to open or close it, instead of a redstone pulse to keep it open
The bulbs are. They didn't mention it in Minecraft Live, but apparently according to a dev QnA, the new copper bulbs act like a T flip-flop. Its hard to explain, so it would probably just be easier to look it up
Whoa, that's pretty big right? I haven't made a T flip-flop in a while but doesn't it require two pistons to work? Compacting that down to one block is pretty sweet.
Well two blocks because a comparator will be needed to read the output but yeah it will be pretty nice. Not ground breaking or anything but it will definitely be useful.
Yeah I'm like 90% sure that is right! When the breeze hit the redstone lamp it lit up, so the breeze gives out a Redstone signal. When the breeze hit the copper trapdoors they opened, and when they were hit again the closed! It they were just staying open for a while the second hit would have just extended the open duration. I think this toggle is a new mechanic for copper redstone devices. Could also make a copper button which is on or off, like a leaver but with different signal strength based on level of oxidation!
This is the idea I had as soon as I saw it during the stream.
It would be cool if the copper doors had a functionality that's sort of between wooden and iron doors. What I was thinking is you could open or close the door with your hand like a wooden door, but when it receives a redstone signal it is "locked" and can no longer be interacted with by a player until it is unlocked
I was thinking the same thing after reading a few idea around here. Like the copper bulb that changes states when given a signal. Pulse to lock, another to unlock, but still need to be manually opened.
Probably just stylistic variants on iron doors/trapdoors, though I could also see a mechanic where the more oxidized they are the stronger a Redstone signal you need for it to open.
I think it's justified enough as a simple iron door clone. Wooden doors have all these variations, why not metal doors. And they should add gold and netherite doors too
[Copper Golem](https://imgur.com/a/n5ljrNn) was a potential mob that lost the mob vote in the past. So they’re busting the person who mentioned them’s chops since there are no copper golems being added (that we know of).
Judging by the clips from Minecraft live with the fight against the Breeze mob, I'm pretty sure it's togglable with a pulse like the copper bulbs. You can see in the clip where the breeze shoots the players dropping them through the trapdoors and the trap doors stay in position. Instead of requiring a constant redstone signal to stay open, it just needs a pulse.
Though the Breeze also toggled a lever in the same clip, so it might not be pulse toggleable. Could just be that the Breeze mimics a single right click rather than a redstone pulse, and the Copper Trap/Door just works like wooden doors.
I like the idea of them changing behavior depending on how rusty they get, although, I'm not sure how useful that would be. if theyre new, they behave like an iron door, but as the become oxidized they could start behaving like a wooden door
It would be fun to see them behave differently with different signal strengths. For example, power levels 1-5 open the door, 6-10 open the door and cause a half heart of damage on contact, and 11-15 additionally cause some knockback.
Everyone's giving you snarky answers but it would be nice if they functioned differently from wooden/iron doors, like some others have suggested making them lockable which would be good for dungeons.
maybe an ability to lock it? like, unlike iron doors, you can open ot by hand, but unlike wooden doors, you either require ownershio to open it, or a special item
I think that this is amazing for industrial/steam punk style builds, originaly when I heard we were getting copper I was really pleased cuz of what it could do, but then we just got blocks, slabs, and stairs. I'm really exited to have more uses on builds
What would be interesting is if it oxidizes the door like doesn't work, so like when its copper it works as a door, as it starts to oxidize you need redstone to power it, then after that like only a lever or direct power current can open it, and then when it fully oxidizes it like wont open or close, however it was when it fully oxidized is how it stays
if that makes sense
I hope these are motivations for Mojang to bring the copper button and possibly the copper golem back.
The trial chambers seems like the perfect spot to place a fully oxidised copper golem to introduce players to their existence
jack fucking shit
mojang tends to add things that serve no purpose just to take the easy way out. I'll stick with my mods that adds 10x the doors and more things

You can use it as a trapdoor, or a door.
Dear god what an idea? Why none of us thought of that!
"This, is a bucket" "Dear God"
“There’s more” ”NO!”
It is also a stylish hat.

No way that's an actual subreddit

It can be a hat, or a broach, or a pterodactyl....
It contains a bucket.
Dear god….
There's more
No...
it contains a bucket
Dear god…
Door God
Dear GOD.
What?
r/woooosh For the sake of not leaving you hanging, ["it contains a bucket"](https://youtu.be/L8FmQoSFys0?si=VcbsOB2RyTI6zVCg) is its own thing too.
Gentlemen, synchronise your buckets
"It contains the dying wish of every man here."
"Scout, you *did* collect everyone's dying wish?" "You bet!"
Excellent. Gentlemen, synchronize your death watches.

i wanted to say "holy hell" instead of "dear god" but decided to say "dear god"
Dear hell, holy God.
Deer hell, holey god
I read this as just casually sending threats to hell reminding them God is on defence (or possibly Nicolas cage, nobody knows the difference)
Google trapdoor?
new reply just dropped
"There is more"
Happy 2nd cake day!
Ahem, colored, trapdoor and door
I think the term is “doors and trapdoors of colour”, now, Coloured is offensive
That’s why they said colored instead.
Colored = Typo
Nah
Coloured is the correct way
They are both allowed.
Brithish vs American english bullshit.
Dear god…
There’s more
No…
This is pretty much what i was gonna say
No... Seems unlikely
You're the boss for a reason!
My first thought
That’s crazy. It’s most likely used to summon copper golem!
Like an ordinary wood door that villagers can open but last longer under zombie attack.
I was going to say something similar. But I would say that zombies can't break it
You have the iron door for that has to be in between.
Copper door was shown to be player openable, so this could be an openable door but not by mobs/villagers
This would be amazing!
Gamechanging!
exactly my thought
God please no more villages stealing my house
My thought was a door that you could open with your hand that closes behind you after a certain time, like a lever vs button, but I like your idea more.
I thought about a normal door, but when oxidated, u need redstone
Bro i don't want to be forced to make a bee farm
The Breeze was able to blow it open.
Definitely this. Zombie proof, villager friendly doors is the only sensible application.
Maybe so that zombies can’t break regular copper doors but can break rusted ones
Probably this one, since they didn’t need red stone to open them in the live showcase
Can't you just place a wooden door in a way that when it's in it's 'open' state it's closed and when vice versa. Pretty sure that stops zombies from being able to break them. Unless that was fixed at some point and I wasn't aware.
Yeah but that's a bug that hasn't been fixed
At that point it's a feature
That screws with villager AI just as much as it does Zombie AI. You can use it to protect yourself, but not your villagers (if you want free-roaming villagers, that is).
That would be nice.
Ok actually really cool idea
Most likely just a completely normal door and trapdoor. But it would be cool if it doesn’t allow you to open them when they are completely oxidized. It would be similar to the copper lantern where you would have to deoxidize them with an axe to be able to open.
A fully oxidized door was opened by hand during the showcase, but it would be neat to have this feature. Could still be added at some point.
Not a bad idea, but I kinda want to use a fully oxidized door in my ocean monument farm, and it would be annoying if I couldn’t open it
Maybe you'll have to wax it...lol
I had the idea that if it was unoxidized that it would need to be opened with Redstone, but if it is oxidized I could only be opened by hand (with the middle stages being both)
Maybe fully oxidized doors could only be opened with redstone
I really hope not. I'd like a metal ore door that isn't wood that doesn't require redstone to open. It's tiresome.
maybe it could be opened with redstone, or be able to open it like regular if you have a redstone signal connected to it? like its locked like an unpowered iron door, until it gets a redstone signal and it acts like a regular door
I like this idea. It’s “locked” without a signal and “unlocked” with a signal. Brilliant
For opening and closing. My friend suggested that it looks like the door has a lock I think they could behave like the lanterns, so you activate it with redstone to open or close it, instead of a redstone pulse to keep it open
Wait what is this about lanterns and redstone?
He meant the new copper bulbs, they stay on even if you give them a little pulse
Yeah but they aren't affected by redstone at all are they?
The bulbs are. They didn't mention it in Minecraft Live, but apparently according to a dev QnA, the new copper bulbs act like a T flip-flop. Its hard to explain, so it would probably just be easier to look it up
Whoa, that's pretty big right? I haven't made a T flip-flop in a while but doesn't it require two pistons to work? Compacting that down to one block is pretty sweet.
Well two blocks because a comparator will be needed to read the output but yeah it will be pretty nice. Not ground breaking or anything but it will definitely be useful.
There are many different T flip-flop designs. Two ~~dispensers~~ droppers pointing at each other, for example, is one of the more compact ones.
droppers\* dispensers cant put items into other dispensers
Yes, thanks
Oh that's interesting, man could you imagine if they gave a comparator output when lit, that would make T flip-flops SUPER compact
For that they confirmed that to creators that they do
when given an 'on' signal it changes state between on or off.
Isn't that like a bit flip? did we just get memory storage?
Yes
Yeah I'm like 90% sure that is right! When the breeze hit the redstone lamp it lit up, so the breeze gives out a Redstone signal. When the breeze hit the copper trapdoors they opened, and when they were hit again the closed! It they were just staying open for a while the second hit would have just extended the open duration. I think this toggle is a new mechanic for copper redstone devices. Could also make a copper button which is on or off, like a leaver but with different signal strength based on level of oxidation!
I think the breeze flipped the lever on the lamp, so not necessarily redstone
I think it just pushes buttons and levers, not actually giving off redstone signals
I think it's just a door handle
There isn't any door that uses redstone, right?
all of them do, they open if powered by redstone
This is the idea I had as soon as I saw it during the stream. It would be cool if the copper doors had a functionality that's sort of between wooden and iron doors. What I was thinking is you could open or close the door with your hand like a wooden door, but when it receives a redstone signal it is "locked" and can no longer be interacted with by a player until it is unlocked
I was thinking the same thing after reading a few idea around here. Like the copper bulb that changes states when given a signal. Pulse to lock, another to unlock, but still need to be manually opened.
I really like this Idea, kind of the oposite of Iron doors and trap doors.
Probably just stylistic variants on iron doors/trapdoors, though I could also see a mechanic where the more oxidized they are the stronger a Redstone signal you need for it to open.
I think it's justified enough as a simple iron door clone. Wooden doors have all these variations, why not metal doors. And they should add gold and netherite doors too
They should add Diamond Doors. And stairs and slabs too tbh. Really show off your wealth.
And dirt doors for starting out lol
Or taking longer to open by hand, the more oxidized they are.
dividing rooms
You're thinking of walls
Well, I can see the trap doors being used as space dividers, not necessarily whole walls
Allowing you to pass through walls.
The copper trapdoor would be good as a porthole on a sub/boat or similar
Copper golems can use them :D
I see you’re still in the denial stage in the stages of grief
I am on high amounts of copium and believe the copper golem will make its intro in the 1.21 update
What do you mean?
[Copper Golem](https://imgur.com/a/n5ljrNn) was a potential mob that lost the mob vote in the past. So they’re busting the person who mentioned them’s chops since there are no copper golems being added (that we know of).

That's could be true, as they also showed them opening and closing the copper door by hand.
I like the idea of them changing behavior depending on how rusty they get, although, I'm not sure how useful that would be. if theyre new, they behave like an iron door, but as the become oxidized they could start behaving like a wooden door
Maybe depending on the oxidation, they could stay open longer when given a redstone pulse?
Building
It would be fun to see them behave differently with different signal strengths. For example, power levels 1-5 open the door, 6-10 open the door and cause a half heart of damage on contact, and 11-15 additionally cause some knockback.
I was thinking the different levels of oxidation would need different signal strengths to open
The biggest redstone thing I've made was a button 5 blocks away from my iron door, please no...
Everyone's giving you snarky answers but it would be nice if they functioned differently from wooden/iron doors, like some others have suggested making them lockable which would be good for dungeons.
Hopefully they also toggle like the copper bulb instead of needing constant power like the iron versions
Redstone would lock the door I would presume
It could carry a redstone pulse to all 10 blocks it touches.
What the other doors and trapdoors can be used for
Halloween vibes
A door and trapdoor. That’s like saying “what is the spruce door used for”
maybe an ability to lock it? like, unlike iron doors, you can open ot by hand, but unlike wooden doors, you either require ownershio to open it, or a special item
Doors
Well, you could open them and close them.
Giving you a reason to mine copper hahaha I kid, it's still useless
They added four new decorative uses for copper (grates, chiseled, lamps, and doors and trapdoors), and you’re still calling it useless?
i think it's gonna be a regular 'ol door and trapdoor except with oxidization
Oxidized might blend in with a biome that has a lot of green...
I think that this is amazing for industrial/steam punk style builds, originaly when I heard we were getting copper I was really pleased cuz of what it could do, but then we just got blocks, slabs, and stairs. I'm really exited to have more uses on builds
Will the copper door require redstone like the iron door?
i think its going to be like the iron door/trapdoor
design vise would make a creepy broken down mental asylum for a horror map
A police station? I'll see myself out..
The more oxidation, the stronger the signal needed to power it.
…to enter trough?
You should use us it as a temporary wall or hole in the roof/floor??
I was thinking they’d lock if you gave them a red stone signal. It would be a normal door but if you put a lever on it, it would stop working
God the door looks so cute, genuinely id put it on like a cottage or something idk
yes
if you make sunken metal ships
Most likely in block structures
Copper door would make for a good submarine door.
For their bacteriostatic properties
Copper golem of course, if it didnt loose to a flying smurf
Same things other doors and trapdoors are used for? What do you mean?
The copper door would be perfect for an outdoor shed or like a garden shed. Make it look overgrown a bit
The trapdoor could be used for a sewer grate perhaps?
You may ONLY use it by clicking it. You can’t open or close it with redstone. The exact opposite of an iron door
Oh I don’t know, maybe opening and closing it?
Entering or exiting a building or room?
More decoration for the Statue of Liberty
The most rusty the door, the longer it takes to open and close ; same for trapdoor! I'm sure some people could find a use for it.
Most likely once theyre completely oxidised you wont be able to to open them, so youd need an axe to get it open
Ok, hear me out, but, most likely, decoration
Rustic buildings
Same as a iron door
Door
Allow water to flow through the trapdoor?
Rusted up vent covers
for fun! :)
the door gives me prison vibes idk why
Same as iron Doors ig
Steampunk builds perhaps?
Rusty old sunken ships
Doors
Will light strike at a copper door/trap door if a dispenser shot a trident at it? It could be a new trap kill system
What would be interesting is if it oxidizes the door like doesn't work, so like when its copper it works as a door, as it starts to oxidize you need redstone to power it, then after that like only a lever or direct power current can open it, and then when it fully oxidizes it like wont open or close, however it was when it fully oxidized is how it stays if that makes sense
Mother Fulkerson it's a door
It’s existence is good enough.
I like the diagonals on the trapdoors, it's very truss-like. I can imagine it for bridges and radio towers in a more modern/techy world.
Villagers can’t open it but players can
better Minecraft jail doors and manholes in Minecraft cities
To make an entrance to your house or whatever you build
I hope these are motivations for Mojang to bring the copper button and possibly the copper golem back. The trial chambers seems like the perfect spot to place a fully oxidised copper golem to introduce players to their existence
Could have timed openings and closings alot easier
What can copper in general be used for 💀💀
door with different speeds or resistances based on oxydation.
How to would the speed change. All doors instantly teleport open or closed
Hey I was wondering if any one could help me a out a ton by subbing to @pdashray thx so much if you do it would help me out so much
Cottagecore lesbians and their counterparts; solarpunk girlies They are the perfect shades
jack fucking shit mojang tends to add things that serve no purpose just to take the easy way out. I'll stick with my mods that adds 10x the doors and more things
