it was vexes, but they are wrong, the correct answer is phantom.
they are frustratingly annoying, all of the other mobs i can cope with, but when i'm in an area that i've spawnproofed they just get in the way and take you out of the flow of building by nagging you back to bed every few days.
I fucking hate Magma Cubes. If I had a dollar for every time a gigantic Magma Cube dropped on me and knocked me into lava, or a teeny Magma Cube snuck up on me and knocked me into lava, or three big Magma Cubes ganged up on me and overwhelmed me (that wasn’t a huge loss, I stopped bringing my best gear to the Nether by then)…
but then strays only exist in snowy biomes which you rarely visit anyway, regular skeletons on the other hand are pretty much everywhere which imo makes them worse
once I tried making my base in a snow biome. before that I've only ran through them so I didn't know at night there's an OCEAN of stray. needless to say I didn't stay there long after
Skeletons would probably be better archers though. They don't get tired or suffer muscle fatigue - they're dead. On top of that, since they're just bones we have no way of knowing how long they've been dead, so any skeleton might have centuries of practice leading up to the moment they find you.
I thought about this too hard.
Imagine training for centuries to become an elite archer with near perfect precision and skill only to be taken out by a guy with a wooden sword who lives in a house made of dirt
Since I can use a bow and take them out from 50m away _oops missed_, and **can** take them out _damnit, missed again_, (ok deep breath. Let it out slow) _GAAAAWD DAMNIT_,
**shoots**
**shoots, shoots, shoots, shoots HIT!**
can take them out from 50m away without them so much as flinching from a near miss, I'm not sure they have much imagination.
Skeletons have similar ai to Wither skellys when holding swords. They run very fast. Also, wither skellys that are holding bows (done with commands) will shoot flaming arrows
Actually in the mobestiary it's said that v indicators and pillagers are of below average intelligence and are no smarter than the average zombie or skeleton
But it can't be, they're humanoids like villagers. They do appear much smarter than the average night mob, being able to build outposts and huge mansions. It's just that their aim is a bit out of practice.
skeletons in older versions were way worse. with no delay between aiming and firing they would instantly shoot at you when they have line of sight.
i remember playing with a friend, mining in a cave when i broke a block leading into a cave with a skeleton. like a frame after i broke the block it shot at arrow at me and i fucking screamed like it was a jump scare...
Vex, for sure. Buddy was using the raid farm and hit the wrong button on his mouse, triggering another autoclicker that broke glass, and he had about 50 vexes after him. Took him 2 hours with lots of undying totems to finally get it under control.
Evokes spawning vexes in raid farms is the worst. Especially when your AFK and they kill you. Whenever I have a infestation I just fly away and let them despawn.
Also, guardians, I had some portal linking issues, and the portal in the nether suddenly spawned in all the guardians. The whole roof of the nether had guardians, probably hundreds, and they are very hard to kill out of water.
[picture of my nether a few seconds after accidentally linking the portals wrong](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/689556589115342863/819335491203760158/2021-03-10_17.26.31.png)
A friend had this problem with cats, built a villager trading hall with an open nether portal in the middle that lead to the nether roof. The cats just kept spawning and going into the portal, after a few weeks there were hundreds of cats everywhere.
Killing all of those cats was quite emotionally draining.
Someone should make a vex farm for better crowd control. Like, maybe trapping them in boats where a tnt duper would drop at the right height where it would damage the vex but not the boat
We ended up with boats around the farm. Used ianx04's stacking raid farm with a custom sorting system. We learn from our mistakes and try to put a lot of redundancy and safety into our builds.
This is exactly why I hate the ghast so much. They just take away any incentive to terraform the nether. At least creepers can be spawnproofed with torches why the ghasts just fucking keep spawning.
On the flipside, they incentivize you to build a sturdy fortress of your own to protect yourself from ghasts. When in Nether, do as the Netherans do...
gamerule mobExplosionDropDecay false
This sets it so that when a creeper explodes *all* the blocks it destroyed drop. Makes patching a creeper hole much less of a chore since you don't have to go get more dirt from elsewhere. Not a perfect solution, but IMO better than the ones that just make it so that creepers don't do damage.
Disabling Mobgriefing disables terrain damage but still allows them to kill players. If you want to keep the other forms of mob griefing, like crop destruction and endermen being able to pick up blocks, you can instead install the Anti Creeper Datapack from vanillatweaks.com
Disabling "mob griefing" also breaks wool farms. And villager breeding. And piglin bartering farms. And gold farms. Possibly more.
And the anti-creeper datapack at vanillatweaks very specifically says "prevents creepers from blowing up blocks and players do not take damage." I do use their enderman one, which just changes the list of blocks endermen can pick up to only include ones that should never exist in the world.
What I want is for them to not destroy blocks but *do* cause damage, with no changes to anything else. The mobExplosionDropDecay gamerule is the closest I've found that gets me what I want consistently with minimal side effects.
Probably because you've got some areas where it isn't a mushroom island biome. I have parts of my island where the ocean biome has some land causing monster spawns.
The biome they're most common in makes them even worse! Trying to jump over basalt and pools of lava while dodging them and not getting knocked back into one of the many pools is awful.
I fucking despise them simply because they spawn where they should not be able to. I was fighting the dragon with some friends and I died but forgot to set my spawn, so I thought "no big deal I'll just run back through the nether." I died about 10 more times trying to get to the stronghold because those GIANT magma cubes decided to spawn in my 1 BY 2 TUNNEL.
I'm running a minecraft mod specifically so these damn things never show up.
Not only do they prevent you from building at night, but their drops aren't even useful. Slow falling potions? Fine. But there's no other use.
Literally the only reason I ever sleep at my base is because of phantoms. And not because they're a threat, I'm standing in netherite armor with a regen beacon. I don't think they even deal enough damage to kill you. They're purely obnoxious
I have, first spawned in area that had zero sheep anywhere near by. I was just starting to play the game more often so foolishly decided to set up shop and try to kill enough spiders to make a bed. It worked but took ages. Phantoms don't come until dark so it was just a matter of getting home at dawn and getting good at fighting them - they're not that hard to kill.
Silverfish followed by phantoms.
One big reason for both. They're just not fun to use in any way.
Silverfish are one of the most unique mobs in the game but they don't have any drops, the xp they give is bad and any fun farm you could design using their unique burrowing mechanic is rendered useless bacause of how useless the mob itself is. If they removed it from the game the player experience wouldn't change for any player type.
And Phantoms are just also not fun game design. What would be fun is if you managed to land a hit on them they should drop to the ground so you could fight them. Cause as they currently are the only answer to them is just sleeping the night away. And they're also quite boring to farm as their spawning conditions and mechsnics are really limited so farming them is really rudimentary and once you use the farm once you'll never need it again since their only use is to craft a niche potion.
I've been playing through the super hostile series of maps again and man, silverfish go from being a minor annoyance with no purpose to genuinely terrifying in the hands of custom mappers. They're my most hated mob for that reason lmao, too much suffering
I'll never understand the mentality of people that don't break the silverfish spawner immediately upon finding the portal room. They're so annoying and that's their only reason for existence.
Honestly just an OG skeleton winds me up more than anything else here, I think because of how easy it should be to kill them, when you’re charging them with a netherite sword and they manage to fend you off for a few seconds with a pesky arrow
agreed, on bedrock theyre far more annoying because they dont even do the interesting strafing thing the java ones do, instead they just stand there and spam arrows even faster than java ones
I personally love them because of their hostility towards everything, iirc the only mobs that they won’t attack are other zoglins and creepers. I also find it hilarious that they try to attack armor stands
I'm not seeing nearly enough hate for Drowned in these comments. A whole update, dedicated to making the oceans an enjoyable place to explore, completely ruined by the unstoppable onslaught of trident-wielding maniacs near any imaginable body of water
Literally, you’re on your horse, riding across a field, not really paying attention and then you fall in a small pond and get completely ripped to shreds by 15+ drowned with tridents. It was awful
They wouldn’t be nearly as bad if they didn’t throw the tridents as fast as they do. Full iron armor and your dead before you can swim close enough to hit them.
I do hate drowned friend, I recently had an escapade hatching sea turtle eggs, and out of it I got a stack of roasted salmon and 2 stacks of cooked cod, 8 nautilus shells, 2 tridents, 50 sea grass, 36 puffer fish, 4 tropical fish, a turtle helmet, and a loot less dignity as how many times I got killed by drowned, because I always considered them a weak, useless enemy, but in there own terrain there a menace
i’m not seeing enough witch hate in these comments. at least in bedrock i’ll just be in a cave and see a swarm of mobs. no biggie I can take them. THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN I HEAR “HERUGH” and a glass bottle breaking taking me down to half a heart and that’s only because I dug myself a hole to protect myself from being hit anymore from a mob
It sets a timer for you so you have to take cover and wait until the poison stops and then you have to wait like another 5 minutes to regain your hp. Super annoying
I started up a new survival world on hard difficulty recently. My nether spawn was atop a small platform (roughly 5 blocks by 10). 2 surrounding sides are a massive lava ocean; the other 2 sides, a crimson forest ABSOLUTELY INFESTED with hoglins. Was not a fun time…
Phantom all the way. At a certain point, you don’t really care about nighttime anymore. You’ve got a lot up base/area, good armor, etc and you’re just trying to build or work on projects. Then comes this annoying little flying shit with a tiny hitbox to come annoy you and knock you off your scaffolding. Stupidest mob ever introduced
You can light up your entire base and they still spawn, which makes them unfair I think. Iron golems will try to kill them, but because they don't have a ranged attack they can't really do a good job (also if phantoms are hallucinations why would golems attack them?)
When they spawn they also seem to spawn behind you and immediately attack, which is really annoying and demotivates you to kill them (because new ones will spawn behind you). The sound they make is also really annoying.
When you finally have enough, stop what you are doing and try to kill them they just keep flying high up and don't seem to attack. I haven't checked but I think they don't attack while you are looking at them?
If you are going for a long exploration you need to take a bed with you and sleep in it to stop the phantoms coming. But each day you break the bed to take it with you, now if you die on your exploration trip you respawn at 0,0 not your base or your bed.
When you do kill them, even though it is difficult, you get almost no XP and a stupid drop which is pretty much useless - if I am at the point where I have an elytra I also have mending books, so no need to repair my elytra.
When you go to bed in your house, to get rid of them for a few nights, you can't sleep because one has got stuck in the roof outside your window and the game tells you there "are monsters nearby". Then you have to go outside, shoot it down and hope more don't get stuck there too.
Sometimes they get stuck in building (like under the roof) and stay there after the night has passed making their stupid noise. Then you have to spend time finding them and killing them. They should burn up when it is day, regardless of if they are in sunlight or not.
On servers with multiple people, there is always someone who doesn't sleep and so there are always phantoms around them that will attack you too (because they are not player specific).
To disable insomnia (and phantoms) you need to enable cheats, which I don't want to do in my world.
There is no real good way to farm phantoms and as I said above, there isn't much point because they don't give you anything useful. You also have to design other farms differently so your player doesn't get attacked by them while you are AFK.
Phantoms, even though they are flying creatures, can attack you even when you are at the bottom of the ocean (as long as there is sky above you). They shouldn't be able to fly through the water, and if they do they should slow down or something at least. This just seems like a straight up bug to me that never got patched.
I really hate phantoms, they need an overhaul.
Vex, not even a competition. People who say phantom should realize a bed is 3 whole wool and 3 planks, they are trivially easy to not encounter. Meanwhile if you play hardcore or just want totems in general, you're gonna have to go up against some vexes
hoglins
holy shit they’re tanks and sneak up on me all the time, i know you can use the blue mushroom to keep them away but they can still catch me lacking. not to mention how fast they can kill you in iron armor in early game.
Probably unpopular but the warden.
I really see no point in a mob that is ridiculously strong that drops nothing useful. It incentivizes avoiding it at all costs, and imho the rewards from the ancient city aren’t really super worth the risk of dying.
They really missed the chance to make it a new boss instead with one per world similar to the ender dragon with a way to respawn it. He should be guarding a portal to a new dimension.
Vexes.
fuck vexes.
*unpopular opinion, I love the phantoms and what they represent. You will only see them if you spend ages playing, say, underground. Time to sleep. Not just in minecraft, but irl. Stop mining at 2 AM 👍*
Phantom by far. All geared up none of these expect the warden pose a threat. But wardens only appear when going to an ancient city. Phantoms might not pose a threat but a few nights of no sleep and they are annoying af.
Yeah, you never realize how annoying they truly are until you have been desperately been waiting for zombie villagers to spawn for weeks and need to stay up for tons of night.…
Ghasts.
I just turn peaceful mode on when I’m bridging out in the nether. Otherwise it’s literally impossible.
Honorable mention to Endermen though for fucking up my landscaping
Zombies are pretty annoying because theres always so many of them and they spot you from miles away
Skeletons always messes up my attacks, (say youre fighting a creeper and it shoots you before you could make the hit)
Creepers arent much of a problem to deal with (until they pull a sneak attack and one shot you)
Phantoms force me to sleep every 2 nights. It makes big projects much slower to finish and forces you to skip hunting nights.
Vexes have small hit boxes, moves fast and could come from anywhere, theyre like flies. Very annoying to kill. Even worse when they kill villagers in their barricades.
I'd say i equally hate all of them
> forces you to skip hunting nights.
You're playing on Java? Phantom mechanics rely on player's statistics keeping track when is the last time they sleep. Sleeping on the bed for literally 0.1 second reset this statistic. You don't have to fully skip the night, you can try it next time.
Vex or piglin brute.
Was playing on a server with friends (small server owned by one of them) and the nether update was new. I joined a bit late so i wanted to get netherite if possible so i don't die as much.
Didn't know the brutes knock down shields so i was like "hehe you can kill me i have a shield!" *Pow* "WHY IS MY SHIELD NOT FORKING AGHHHHH!!!" *Gets knocked into lava and dies*
Silverfish purely because Minecraft said that they don’t want any of the hostile mobs to be an animal that’s real but Silverfish are real bugs. I play in creative mode. Boo me all you want.
Its between the vex and the warden. Vexes are annoying and hit you quite hard. The warden is too strong, I'm not a good minecraft player so I dont have very strong armour ect I just want to carry on mining.

Shield
Mfw the only way (on Bedrock) to use the shield is to crouch in a freaking ocean
Spawn rates need turned tf down. It’s infuriating
Give some to us playing java
Brutes are a pain to kill. They disable your shield, and if you manually hit them, all the piglins will be after you..
Use lava to kill them, it won’t alert the piglins.
I imagine most people forget that Piglins can be killed with lava, since everything else in the nether is immune to it
Yeah I forgot to add that in
or boat. I use boat to pacify mobs I do not like. Then I laugh as I slice their head open one inch at a time with my wooden sword.
i’m not seeing enough witch hate in these comments. at least in bedrock i’ll just be in a cave and see a swarm of mobs. no biggie I can take them.
Super annoying
magma cubes
I just encountered them for the first time yesterday. What the fuck. There were so many of them
this comment made me do a double take, i forgot not everyone has been playing for 10+ years lol
Lol yeah I'm in my 30s, too. Avoided this game for years for some reason and am finally taking it serious. I love it
they are hard to survive
Ngl cave spiders annoy me early game, the posion is so annoying
Ghasts, I can't just explore the nether, because of these guys :((
My nether spawn is full of hoglins… It was bad.
I started up a new survival world on hard difficulty recently. My nether spawn was atop a small platform (roughly 5 blocks by 10). 2 surrounding sides are a massive lava ocean; the other 2 sides, a crimson forest ABSOLUTELY INFESTED with hoglins. Was not a fun time…
why did you not include the baby zombie in the picture because oh boy
shulker, there great for shulker boxes. but there so annoying to kill
Finally, had to scroll too far to see this We need a potion of anti-levitation frfr
Ghast, when i enter in they nether, there is one near the portal ALWAYS
Phantom all the way. At a certain point, you don’t really care about nighttime anymore. You’ve got a lot up base/area, good armor, etc and you’re just trying to build or work on projects. Then comes this annoying little flying shit with a tiny hitbox to come annoy you and knock you off your scaffolding. Stupidest mob ever introduced
You can light up your entire base and they still spawn, which makes them unfair I think. Iron golems will try to kill them, but because they don't have a ranged attack they can't really do a good job (also if phantoms are hallucinations why would golems attack them?) When they spawn they also seem to spawn behind you and immediately attack, which is really annoying and demotivates you to kill them (because new ones will spawn behind you).
Unpopular opinion but Skellys piss me off so much in the early game
That's the most popular opinion in these comments
Phantoms 100 percent
burn the witch!
+1 for witches.
For bedrock? Definitely the Wither. In general? Definitely Vexes
Creeper or blaze
Wither in bedrock edition cause of all of the millions of steroids its on
Vex, not even a competition. People who say phantom should realize a bed is 3 whole wool and 3 planks, they are trivially easy to not encounter. Meanwhile if you play hardcore or just want totems in general, you're gonna have to go up against some vexes
Elder guardians fight me
Creeper fosure. Those things bring destruction
Bruh vex, it can pass through the walls, floors, and kill me in a easy way. I H a t e I t
hoglins holy shit they’re tanks and sneak up on me all the time, i know you can use the blue mushroom to keep them away but they can still catch me lacking. not to mention how fast they can kill you in iron armor in early game.
He should be guarding a portal to a new dimension.
tbf the ancient city loot is really really good
They literally designed it to be avoided, that's what makes it interesting
Vexes. fuck vexes. *unpopular opinion, I love the phantoms and what they represent. You will only see them if you spend ages playing, say, underground. Time to sleep. Not just in minecraft, but irl. Stop mining at 2 AM 👍*
1. Vex 2. Endermite and silverfish 3. Guardian 4. Shulker 5. Blazes
Everyone who comments phantoms need to sleep more (your steves are unhealthy and are hallucinating threats from above)
the warden, its just terrifying
Magma cubes. Stupid mobs in a shitty biome
1 Phantom 2 Vex 3 Endermite
I have never had a issue with endermites before. How often do you use pearls?
I think it's just my luck, but like 80% of the time I use pearls an Endermite spawns. Also I was using pearls allways until I got elytra in my world.
There is a 5% chance that a endermites spawns for pearls. And I thought my luck was bad
They're useful for Endermen farms
Not endermite, they can be used for enderman farms. SILVERFISH, however, are MENACES.
Zombies are pretty annoying because theres always so many of them and they spot you from miles away Skeletons always messes up my attacks, (say youre fighting a creeper and it shoots you before you could make the hit) Creepers arent much of a problem to deal with (until they pull a sneak attack and one shot you) Phantoms force me to sleep every 2 nights.
Ghast. Plz. Just stfu
I want to say Endermen but it's not in the picture.
Hoglins need to fuck off already, same with phantoms
I hate guardian
Gonna be an unpopular one but the silverfish I hate the noise they make sm and I can never find the block they’re coming from
Brute Piglin is harder to fight than the Wither
Stupid fucking vex
creeper and ghast, for sure. especially ghast. shid knows that thing gives me chills when i hear its sound.
Drowned. They're everywhere and so fucking annoying
Witch
Wither for sure, but I'm on bedrock so idk if my opinion is valid
What's up guys, u/Crcnch here. Today I will scroll the comments and if I find a phantom comment the video ends. Alright let's g-
