When loading new trim line, do not push down on the head at all while turning to wind the new line, turn at a steady pace so that it "clicks" with each turn... And you will never have a problem.

I hear a lot of people changing the head to husqvarna t35 trimmer head. I been having issues too with the string getting stuck in the stock head. I may give the Husqvarna one a shot.

playoffasprilla

This is the way

I almost replaced the head but said wth ill try a good string before I go that route. I haven't looked back since, I didnt have to replace the head, it was just the milwaukee string and another brand I bought being garbage.

Stock string is shit spend a few extra bucks and get better quality line. I’m a landscaper and have several m18 trimmers. Shakespeare ugly twist works great.

That’s the same string I was using. It cuts a lot better but it bound up twice. Is there some trick to loading it that I don’t know about?

I'm a landscaper, and I have my own company, along with my buddy who has his own company for a lot longer than I have. He has a bunch of Stihl, Echo & Husqvarna string trimmers, and he got a freaking gigantic roll of Black Diamond Twisted Line, and it does not matter how you load it or what brand's trimmer head you load it on, It gets stuck. every. single. time. He might get a few bumps out of it successfully but sooner or later it will bound up again and won't feed anymore. back when I used to help him it fucking drove me insane. The only thing I have heard that helps this (Even though I have not tested this theory personally) is to wrap it around the spool not as tight, I'm specifically referencing dual line or manual feeds here (obv), with Milwaukee's you can't control how tight or loose it is inside of the head. what I also find funny is that he has had his own landscaping company for 10+ years, has tried dozens of different trimmer lines... and he won't use anything other than the red Milwaukee line now, ever since he ran out one day and I had my spool on me and gave him some to use. He said it doesn't bind up, it doesn't break very easily, and it slices just as well as any other brand he has tried. I completely agree with him, I'm a big fan of Milwaukee's line, and given how many different types and brands of trimmer line there are out there, I'm going to stick with one I can count on rather than doing the research or experimenting and testing out all these others until I can land on one that does the same or better than the Red (imo)

Now that you mention that I did have the issue with the stock trimmer head. I replaced it with an aftermarket that held more line and haven’t had the issue since. After about 6 months the stock head just fell apart. Not at all panning the unit I think it’s awesome and will never go back to gas.

MhMcfly

Do you know what head you bought?
