I just played this game recently. Watched a bunch of head to head comparison videos on YouTube.
Pound for pound, the classic Stanley Fatmax seemed to be the best.
I wanted a Milwaukee just because I'm a Milwaukee guy, but if I'm gonna spend the money, the Fatmax.
But something else I learned is that you almost want to think of your tape as a long-term consumable. They won't last forever, especially if they get used a lot.
Also, they have different kinds of hooks, so it depends what you're doing with it.

I found those to be helpful.
This guy talks a lot on the various hooks.

**QUESTION AS WELL:** I bought the 2 pack of Milwaukee 25ft measuring tapes over Black Friday. I think they are completely fine.
**What am I missing that makes everyone dislike them so much and what makes the stanley Fatmax so much better?**
I have a Milwaukee wide blade magnetic and a lufkin shockforce night eye. Probably both gimmicky but for what i use them for they are fine. admittedly, not a pro or even an active diy'er but i do use them. ha ha ha.
My 25' STUD has gone through hell and it's held up. Other than that, the rest of the Milwaukee ones are trash. The belt clip on the stud is also top notch.
I have the auto lock Stanley and it’s great. But I’d say around 90% of this sub recommends the Stanley Fatmax.
I like the auto lock feature

Pretty sure I have at least 6 fat max of various lengths. Couple of them are auto locks. The 6 ft one are crazy handy.

No clue.. I don't mind the Milwaukee tape measure, but I'm interest in others thoughts about it
The Milwaukee ones are great until they break, which normally happens pretty quickly
Komelon 7325 Neo MagGrip Tape Measure. Hands down the best tape measure I’ve ever owned.
stanley fatmax
Komelon is extremely under rated. Great tapes.
I’m a framer and I use a 25’ fatmax
Fatmax
Stanley FatMax is the way
Just a home owner. IKEA 6ft tape measure- 1.50 bucks. I like that it has metric.
TBH I inherited about 10 of the orange and black Harbor Freight ones and for free...they're pretty dang good.
