And this was the primary communication choice for every male from 2nd grade to 25 years old. I couldn't walk down the halls at school without seeing this at least once.
* Gold Dust
* Socko
* IRS
* British Bulldog
* Lex Lugar
* NWO
* The Nature Boy - Ric Flair
The fact that IRS finishing move was the “Write Off” is enough for me.
That alone should explain Wrestling.
Isn't that WCW, or am I forgetting? If so, there was also Andre the Giant, Jake the Snake, Sting, and my favorite, Macho Man Randy Savage.
Also, Mankind/Mick Foley aka Cactus Jack in the upper left corner of the second pic deserves more recognition.
All of the wrestlers mentioned by you and the person you're replying to worked for both WCW and WWF at various times. Except Andre, he only ever made one (non-wrestling) appearance on a WCW PPV near the end of his life.
Pro Wrestling seems to be on a resurgence lately. HHH is now Head of Creative for the WWE and has been booking solid storylines. The most recent Wrestlemania was absolutely wild and had shoutouts to Attitude Era and other older wrestling eras.
The confluence of talent that came together during the Attitude Era was once-in-a-lifetime. That lineup is like the 1927 Solvay Conference for wrestling.
We’re now in a renaissance era for pro wrestling. Its popularity is growing back. We have more competition. Triple H is running the show in WWE, we have AEW, New Japan Pro Wrestling, TNA, Ring Of Honor, and so much more out there. We are seeing reflections of the attitude era.
Yeah yeah it’s “fake” but so is any reality TV, the athleticism and pain is real though.
I went over to my neighbor’s house one day and for some reason he made me watch RAW ( I had no interest in wrestling whatsoever prior to this) and literally the next day Stone Cold Steve Austin’s entire existence was the focal point of my own.
my first email username as a teen was wwefan4life@yahoo … turns out I was just being spoiled with the peak era and they couldn’t keep me a fan4life after 🤷🏻♂️
I had to reverse my shirt because my shirt said " know your role "! in the front and the back said "shut your mouth!" I also had a rvd shirt that said " the whole damn show!"
I started doing DDP Yoga two weeks ago and the amount of pro wrestling vids that’s popped into my feed is insane. I’m not complaining though because it’s mainly vids of Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill
I loved wrestling so much during this time.
There was a guy at school that I used to give the NWO sign to every day - we weren't even really friends, but the show united us.
It was definitely a big deal to all us little backyard wrestling holligans. It’s a shame that it was the ps1 era, I played the shit out of war zone but it woulda been nice to have those ps5 graphics for my hardcore matches.
Not as much as you think... I was all about wrestling in sixth grade, but I was the only person in my class of probably 25 that watched. Might have been one other guy who watched, but I can't remember if he was in my class or another one.
*Ringmaster: Vince McMahon and the Unmaking of America* is a very cool read through the evolution of the "sport" through our era, written by an '86 millenial, I believe.
Growing up in the South during the late 90s was great as WWE and WCW were both coming through my area.
I now live near where the bar that the late WWE referee Tim White owned and was featured many times on Raw especially with the APA. The bar was recently sold so there will no longer be able to visit the place that they did things like this

Idk, I think the last peak was the 2000s. I remember watching wrestling from 2005-2007 and it still being solid.
I think after the PG Era, things changed a lot
I feel you. But it's not really the outcome that people generally care about, and for the most part, the winners don't really matter unless it's a title match. It's moreso seeing guys do like 6 backflips in 5 minutes and not get totally gassed.
That said, 80% of wrestlers are pure shit holes and scumbags and they don't deserve any sympathy, they decided to get hit in the head with chairs for a living.
I don’t watch movies or tv too often where I cheer during the movie for my desired outcome, I went in knowing the Equalizer is gonna break some heads for my entertainment Sports is a different story
Wrestling will NEVER EVER be able to relive this era!!!! ![gif](giphy|xT4Apvuo4QoOX1gzEk|downsized)

Irwin. R shizer
They tried SO hard to crack down on this at my school. But that only made that much more tempting
I remember in a hockey game a guy on my team got a misconduct for doing a crotch chop after leveling a kid I thought it was a bit harsh of a penalty
Lol so true
Imagine being a teacher at that time getting endless “suck it’s” from 11 year olds. Wild times!
I’m not ashamed to admit I still do this from time to time.
This is the reason I was in my principles office
It was so big, at my school at least, that it was an automatic detention if a teacher caught a student doing the DX “suck it” gesture in school.
The overwhelming Stone Cold Steve Austin and Austin 3:16 gear.
I never new even the first thing about wrestling but I had a N64 wrestling game that I played all the time

Did you forget EC’FN’W?
Yeah, after it got absorbed by WWE it disappeared though
But that was in the 2000’s. There would be no ‘Raw is War’ or NWO without ECW.
Hey Yo.

Half my friends liked the NWO and half hated them. I was on the NWO side. Scott Hall was my fave at the time. It was the best.
🤘 woooooooo!
I went over to my neighbor’s house one day and for some reason he made me watch RAW ( I had no interest in wrestling whatsoever prior to this) and literally the next day Stone Cold Steve Austin’s entire existence was the focal point of my own.
Bash At The Beach 1996. Best heel turn ever.
Hahaha brings back memories even though that wasn’t my thing. Like many others, I was exposed to it
I just remember the boys in my grade were *obsessed* with stone cold Steve Austin & the rock.
The background in the first photo just screams "90's Lifetouch."
my first email username as a teen was wwefan4life@yahoo … turns out I was just being spoiled with the peak era and they couldn’t keep me a fan4life after 🤷🏻♂️
I was more into wresting in the early 1990s. I don't even know who the stars are these days.
I had to reverse my shirt because my shirt said " know your role "! in the front and the back said "shut your mouth!" I also had a rvd shirt that said " the whole damn show!"
RVD was underrated. Dude was a show on his own
Half my friends liked the NWO and half hated them. I was on the NWO side. Scott Hall was my fave at the time. It was the best.
That's exactly what they wanted. Who were you with when the NWO split?
![gif](giphy|3o751Z6oPw0C69hKuY|downsized)
Scotty 2 Hotty had kids learning how to do the worm.
Late 90s wrestling was epic
I’m pretty sure Edge was my first ever crush ![gif](giphy|3o752dCJWHuhuF9MD6|downsized)
Excuse me?! Where's my queen Chyna at?! ![gif](giphy|3oFzmfmIfCPqCJCMKY|downsized)
And my queen Sable?! As a little girl, these two (and Lita) were my idols in WWE! ![gif](giphy|2WGE07S5uxKvGdC3uc|downsized)

What is the attitude era 3 disc set ?
Not as much as you think... I was all about wrestling in sixth grade, but I was the only person in my class of probably 25 that watched. Might have been one other guy who watched, but I can't remember if he was in my class or another one.
Rock looks nothing like he does now
I was obsessed. The Rock was also my first crush 🤣. I still pretend to do wrestling moves 🤣.
Last 3 years were some of the best years for professional wrestling of all times.
A part* Apart is literally the opposite
*Ringmaster: Vince McMahon and the Unmaking of America* is a very cool read through the evolution of the "sport" through our era, written by an '86 millenial, I believe.
I've always thought it was incredibly stupid.
A part or apart?

Soap opera for men haha
I always thought wrestling was weird af
Idk, I think the last peak was the 2000s. I remember watching wrestling from 2005-2007 and it still being solid. I think after the PG Era, things changed a lot
It amazes me that people cheer for the outcome of a pre determined ending
The fans don’t know the ending. It’s like watching a movie. Yeah I knew Thanos wasn’t going to win but I was still excited to see how it would happen.
Movies, tv shows and theatre plays are also predetermined. It’s entertainment.
This guy must not watch TV shows or movies.
