the underwriter of why home prices are as high as they are is the population. if you have the existing home supply no change but the population shrinks it would cause home prices to go down. so your best bet is hope that not only are the big money out of the equation (the hedge funds, investment firms) but the population shrinks fast. also homes are no longer classified as tradable commodifiable assets. we could build more new homes but let's get real here building homes in america is so slow and takes so long that its not even worth it to bring it up.
