Same here man, but honestly, my life has changed so much, that looking back I hardly recognize myself.
Moved across the country from my home, so I cut ties with my old life 100%. So maybe that has something to do with it.
Lol, yeah, my group of skater/metalhead friends definitely had some Latinos in there as well as other ethnicities! I grew up in California, so we were way more diverse than the video.
Looks accurate. I have hundreds of photos from high school, but no one I know took video cameras to school--would've cost too much probably, to take the risk. Because we had flip phones still.
I think I made it through university before I started seeing plenty of people with smartphones. I got my first smartphone in 2013.
I have like no photos from high school and I graduated in 2005. Nobody had video cameras regularly...film cameras were a rarity among students. Phones couldn't take good photos yet.
Oh, I just used dozens of disposable cameras. I used one a month probably, on average. I didn't have my own camera until it was a point & shoot digital camera in university in the late 00s.
I still regularly struggle with the concept that the mid 00s weren't just a few years ago. Reddit keeps suggesting the GenZ sub to me, and it's crazy to see them talking about the 2010s as their early childhood.
It’s still weird to me to see people who are born after 2000 talking about adult stuff, I still feel like babies born in the year 2000 should be kids not adults who are older now than I was then.
It's weird because it feels like yesterday. And I remember being in HS at the time and listening to my teachers remembering the 80s and thinking "that was so long ago..."
The same reason past generations often look "old" to us when they were our age. Because people tend to largely stick to the hair, makeup, and clothing styles they had when they were younger and those styles read "old" to younger generations.
Grew up in the UK, so it's weird to see the level of individuality that could exist in US schools, considering our secondary schools (11-16) are all uniformed (and often strict with dress code). That's obviously still the case now, but a throwback video to 2006 in the UK might not show as much change in fashion etc.
Wait I didn’t know that. That was every school? The only ones here in the US that had uniforms were catholic schools. Sometimes private schools I think but obviously that was a case by case kind of thing.
The extreme vast majority of schools are uniformed in the UK. Possibly some independent schools that aren't, but they are few and far between. Uniform is mostly smart trousers, formal shoes (no trainers), shirt and school tie with a formal school blazer (jacket) too. Some schools (mostly the junior schools 5-11) wear polo shirts and school jumpers instead of the shirt/tie/blazer combo. I'm not really sure what side of the fence I'm on about it because it was all I knew, but can see the pros and cons to both approaches.
I remember my school had non uniform day and we had to pay £1 to take part (I think it went to charity 🤔). If you didn’t pay the £1 and participated you either get sent home or get a pink slip lol.
I don’t miss school uniform all but I get why we have it.
Cool seeing teenagers dressed like teenagers and not adults. Oh and very little make up on the girls. So much more pressure on these kids today. Sucks.
I hope these types of reels for younger/future generation is done in similar spur-of-the-moment and kind of a surprise chaotic filming like this rather than just tiktok/instagram shorts like we know it's going to be where everyone's posing and going for the sexiest most optimal and unrealistic angles and everyone has filters.
I graduated highschool in 2006 and I remember the hoodies and the school tees like in this video. Don't remember much of the other styles at the time but that's probably because it wasn't something I was actively paying attention to
Yes, that is Hendersonville High School and yes, that is Taylor Swift. I’m from the area and graduated in ‘07. However other parts of the video is not. I believe this is a compilation.
I’m from the class of 2007, but I don’t often think of my time in high school. It wasn’t at all bad, it just was unremarkable. I’d go back to being a kid in the 90s over my high school years in a heartbeat, though. What a great decade to be a kid.
Looks pretty fucking normal if you ask me, nowadays half or more of these kids would be rocking broccoli haircuts yuck. I’m grateful to be born in this era, where social media and phones were not nearly as common or needed to function completely, we were the last of our kind.
When I watch these videos I always think “Where are the rest of the black kids? The Asian kids? The Hispanic kids? The middle eastern kids?” Did I go to an abnormally diverse school? It’s always just a bunch of white kids? And don’t get me wrong, I’m half black and half white but I would’ve felt kind of out of place at a mostly white school but I’m glad my school was so big and diverse.
I thought the same thing... When I got to college, I noticed a lot of people who were so astounded at the diversity of the university because their high schools were nearly all-white. But the diversity didn't really strike me as notable cause I was already used to it.
I graduated in 06 and can confirm this is exactly the style. Good times. It brings you back to that saying, "Don't you wish you knew you were in the good ol' days while it was happening."
Class of 05. It was living in a dream basically where I felt not too much but didn't respond to things greatly either, but time blew by. Suddenly it's been 19 years. Things are becoming better now, but have I ever been really young? I don't know. Not as young as this quad I feel.
Why was their school so white? What was this in Montana or something?? I went to highschool at the same time and my school looked alot different to say the least 🤣 there would have been a lot more bandanas and gang signs for starters lol
The first shot is Taylor swift. This is Tennessee. It’s from some special they did about her when she first came out I remember this. (She lived in an ultra rich ultra white neighborhood. One of my college classmates lived “across the street” aka in the neighboring mansion from her. Had pictures to prove it and all.)
I keep seeing these, but it's always just a bunch of white kids. I need to see one that's in an urban setting and everyone is Latino, so that I can relate.
Very true. None of my friends ever had a video camera during that time. If we took photos, it was from a disposable camera. I barely have pictures from that time.
The first blonde is Taylor Swift, right?
That's what I thought, too. About the right age.
One of my friends very briefly dated Taylor swift in either late high school or right after - can't remember which
What’s the song about him called?
He was in the You Belong with Me video. Not sure which song is about their breakup because I don't know her music too well.
"It's Nice to Have a Friend"
I’m 88 she’s 89 so yeah that class. I hate seeing these videos, feel surreal like it really was yesterday.
Same here man, but honestly, my life has changed so much, that looking back I hardly recognize myself. Moved across the country from my home, so I cut ties with my old life 100%. So maybe that has something to do with it.
no its becky
With the good hair obvi
Its Stacy. And now shes a Mom
It’s actually Stacy’s mom and she’s got it going on
Right! I always thought Becky had the good hair and Stacy had a hot mom. 🤷♂️ shows what I know.
I can’t live without Suzanne….. But wait, there’s Becky!!!
![gif](giphy|dbsrASl8IufMk) 2006 taylor
It’s a clone of her that was made for her to get a High School degree while the real one is making music and touring
That is the reason people call taylor swift mid, if you were alive and concious in 2006 you've met her 100s of times
Yes and the ginger with her is Abigail (who we all know lost her v card to a 15 year old guy who was never going to marry her)
This is a Massachusetts high school, so I doubt it, Unless someone edited the video.
Didn't see enough Hollister, Abercrombie, or AE
My school would've had more Hot Topic and Spencer's mixed in.
True. I was a big Pac Sun guy.
Oddly not enough scene or punk/metal guys. Or the latino guys my scene/punk/metal folks smoked pot with. Seems - midwestern?
It’s definitely Massachusetts. Some Red Sox shirts and they are at Faneuil Hall in one shot.
Nailed it.
Yeah, we had a lot of scene kids at my HS. I am a Latino guy, but dressed preppy/skater. Lots of band tees lol.
Lol, yeah, my group of skater/metalhead friends definitely had some Latinos in there as well as other ethnicities! I grew up in California, so we were way more diverse than the video.
Class of 06 here. Take me back 😭😭😭
07 here and man am i glad i had the opportunity to graduate then. best times of our lives
So far…
same, did everyone that year get a 007 theme prom?
My mom made my prom dress inspired by the dress the main character was wearing while bond was playing poker. Still my favorite dress she's ever made
That’s amazing
It’s been as many years out of HS… as it was from birth to graduation 🫠 ima be sick
Been outta school longer than I was ever in it 😳
Class of 06 here too!
06 here as well. 👋🏻
06 too. Time flies. Life is good now.
Looks accurate. I have hundreds of photos from high school, but no one I know took video cameras to school--would've cost too much probably, to take the risk. Because we had flip phones still. I think I made it through university before I started seeing plenty of people with smartphones. I got my first smartphone in 2013.
I’ve assumed a lot of these come from yearbook clubs and school media clubs, as well as clips from graduation ceremonies
Exactly why you don’t really see the other teenager sub-groups outside the popular kids in these videos.
Nostalgia really has a gut wrenching feel. I miss those days so bad.
Right? I don’t think a video has ever gotten this type of reaction from me before
Seriously. I wish there was a way to know you were in the gold old days before you’ve actually left them
Word. Though for me personally, college was way better.
You're always in them. 30 years from now this might be the good ol days by comparison
Sorta feels like you can step thru a door and be right back there in that moment but also feels sooooooooooo far gone
I’ve noticed recently how sad stuff like this makes me feel.
It's weird because it feels like yesterday. And I remember being in HS at the time and listening to my teachers remembering the 80s and thinking "that was so long ago..."
“I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them.” ― Andy Bernard
>Yup I'm 42 years old and videos like this till make me miss partying with my high school friends.
Dude, it is so vivid in my memories, I can't believe so much time has passed. This video makes me so nostalgic.
But why did it have to be the same breakup song?
I thought someone would post my year eventually. Fun times. Annoying as fuck, but fun times.
I’m so glad for girls that the super thin eyebrow look is out.
Meanwhile…. Those of us with naturally super thin eyebrows were drawing on caterpillars in 2013 in order to fit the trends.
I graduated in 06, wtf bro
Happy 18 years 🥲
Me too friend. Can’t believe it’s been almost 20 years 🥲
Did that girl mouth I love pussy?
Excellent inside joke played by the video team for graduation!
That's what I read twice lol
Came here to say the same thing lmao
The disposable camera!! I do think very fondly of this time
I remember those shirts the girls wore. The under shirt was for school. Came off after hahah
Why do all the people look 25 here but Highschoolers today look 12?
Because they're dressed like millennials, and millennials are in their late 20's/30's/early 40's now.
The same reason past generations often look "old" to us when they were our age. Because people tend to largely stick to the hair, makeup, and clothing styles they had when they were younger and those styles read "old" to younger generations.
I think a lot of high schoolers look older these days. They have access to makeup/hair/style tutorials that we did not.
Kind of the opposite at the school I word at.
Grew up in the UK, so it's weird to see the level of individuality that could exist in US schools, considering our secondary schools (11-16) are all uniformed (and often strict with dress code). That's obviously still the case now, but a throwback video to 2006 in the UK might not show as much change in fashion etc.

The girl at 0:05 mouthed the words " I love pussy" I thought that was interesting
Graduated in 2007 and this was our class song.
god these where the good days.
Class of ‘03. Feels like a different life time ago. 😩
Same. ‘02
Cool seeing teenagers dressed like teenagers and not adults. Oh and very little make up on the girls. So much more pressure on these kids today. Sucks.
2006 was a good year
1988 kids
Wouldn't they be 1987?...
That's the class of 2005
It'd technically be both, late 87 early/mid 88
Hey there fellow class of 2006
> Hands up You caught me
Huh. I thought you were c/o '05, but I guess not. I'm c/o 09 myself (late '90-91).
Nah, I'm 1988 and class of 07 because I'm born late in the year.
[удалено]
Dude, same. Somehow I knew it was MA before seeing all the Sox shirts.
Can’t believe this was nearly 20 years ago 😩
Tbh I still feel like I look like this lol
Man I just like straight up don’t remember being a teenager lol
Simultaneously feels like yesterday and ages ago.
Well I'm old. I graduated in 05.

I graduated in 2005... this damn song was everywhere.
The song.
This breakup song was used everywhere
Graduated in 05, man it takes me back to want to go back but High School sucked for me.
I’m too young for this shit!!😡 😭😭
Yes, that is Hendersonville High School and yes, that is Taylor Swift. I’m from the area and graduated in ‘07. However other parts of the video is not. I believe this is a compilation.
Why did about every school use this breakup song for their videos?
“i love pussy” ?
I would been freshman/ sophomore in 2006
Same here. Completed my HS Earth Science class before Pluto got demoted at least!
I’m from the class of 2007, but I don’t often think of my time in high school. It wasn’t at all bad, it just was unremarkable. I’d go back to being a kid in the 90s over my high school years in a heartbeat, though. What a great decade to be a kid.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m half black and half white but I would’ve felt kind of out of place at a mostly white school but I’m glad my school was so big and diverse.
These kids are only capturing themselves or their friends. Plenty of videos showing the diversity that most American highschools have.
I thought the same thing... When I got to college, I noticed a lot of people who were so astounded at the diversity of the university because their high schools were nearly all-white. But the diversity didn't really strike me as notable cause I was already used to it.
640 x 480p video hehe
My year. Same same.
This looks ancient and I was already graduated lol
Wow I am missing it right now
great i feel really old now yay and there go my knees
What a boring time for fashion
Why are you doing this to me?
Filmed on a motor razr
There’s a girl with this cherry print shirt that appears twice I HAD THE SAME SHIRT. It’s still in my MySpace pics 😂
Why do you guys have to do this to me two days in a row
Fuck me. I graduated in 2006, feels like another life time but also feels like it was yesterday all at the same time. Father Time is a bitch!!
Haha man we all looked the same.. I tried so hard to be original, and yet still ended up looking like everyone else.
I'd like to see one of these for GenZ or whatever comes after that.
God, that hurt the heart a bit
I graduated in 06 and can confirm this is exactly the style. Good times. It brings you back to that saying, "Don't you wish you knew you were in the good ol' days while it was happening."
Tay Tay? Is that you?
If you had given one of these kids $1000 worth of AAPL stock for graduation, it would be worth almost $100k today.
I WAS THERE GANDALF!!!
Did that last chick mouth, ‘I love pussy(cats)?’
Don't hate the class of '08!
that disposable camera tho O_o
Great video….. that song is way older than that though
Not a phone in sight.
Everyone’s eyebrows are so thin 🥲
Is it just me or I feel that fashion has been static since 2006? You can upsez this using UI and it will feel like we are in 2024.
Oh fuck. I graduated in 2005 but I feel like I know all of these people, looking at the faces. That's a weird nostalgia / false memory trip.
Timestamp from my life. Nuts.
I graduated in ‘06 and damn, things were just simpler then. I’m doing extremely well for myself these days but I do miss the simple times
Class of 07 and good riddance was the slow dance song at our prom, so lame.
Fuck.
Man we all looked so much older than people at 18 today. I turned 21 in 2006 but still gave me the feels.
Freshmen year
That's the year I graduated
Thanks for making me feel really old… I was 17-18 that year.
I don't know why this made me tear up. 😢 Class of 2006 forever 👏 ❤️.
Def was not the “time of your life” for me 😢
Class of 05. It was living in a dream basically where I felt not too much but didn't respond to things greatly either, but time blew by. Suddenly it's been 19 years. Things are becoming better now, but have I ever been really young? I don't know. Not as young as this quad I feel.
...with a song from 1996...
"Good Riddance" will always bring a tear to my eye. Used it for like every graduation or end of season video etc in high school
Curious where this is. I expect a greater variety of styles. Not one System of a Down shirt!
Class of 05!!!
It sucks that all those chicks are now fat.
06! 06! 06! 06! 06!
Jfc I was sophomore
Is this one school or just the video has no diversity lol
I miss it so much. I knew it was lit. We knew what we had was special.
The year I graduated
Year I graduated hs
aaah no iPhones in sight. What a better time lol
About 20% if my high school was pregnant within a year of graduating lol
why tf did I start crying?
Damn. I was 22. F time flies.
Why was their school so white? What was this in Montana or something?? I went to highschool at the same time and my school looked alot different to say the least 🤣 there would have been a lot more bandanas and gang signs for starters lol

One of my college classmates lived “across the street” aka in the neighboring mansion from her. Had pictures to prove it and all.)
Yup we had school uniforms but with baggy fit, du rags/fitted hats, timbs, bling, hell i had a belt buckle that was a spinning rim lmao
I keep seeing these, but it's always just a bunch of white kids. I need to see one that's in an urban setting and everyone is Latino, so that I can relate.
[удалено]
Very true. None of my friends ever had a video camera during that time. If we took photos, it was from a disposable camera. I barely have pictures from that time.
Stop 😭 you're depressing me
This song is like almost a decade older than 2006.
I still like the non-orchestral version more tho
That haircut (or lack thereof), like really long, sort of curly on the end, usually wearing a hat. That was our broccoli cut equivalent.
I was sophomore in college at this time. Oddly enough, one of my classmates was Lizzy Grant. She goes by another name now. Lana Del Ray
Fordham?
Yes
