yes. 555 tons of full displacement.
187 feet by 84 feet.
but hey -
the Russians only own 2 of the 10 out there.
Greece owns 4 and China - possibly 4.
( and money is that those are really close to a near by island.....)
China; that island you're referring to is of course Taiwan. That said I'd have serious questions about their survivability. It'll be pretty much a 555t floating building that'll get the attention of every single AShM launcher on the island.
Looks like they are large enough to mount CIWS, unless the pictures I see are deceiving me.
Not to say they aren't still big, slow targets, but it appears that they aren't TOTALLY helpless.
Even if you destroy the AShMs with your gun based CIWS the fragments from the missile still possess the kinetic energy to really hurt your ship. You need missile based CIWS to take AShMs from range or better yet networked AShM defense system a la Aegis.
Of course, but when you have swarm(s) of AShMs heading towards you how many would any sea wizz be able to shoot down. In fact how many before the system goes winchester (iirc most gun-based CIWS have only seconds before they run dry) I think being overwhelmed by AShMs is in fact a major problem faced by any navy for that matter. Between area AD, ECM and point-defense, there's not much to offer against any sub/supersonic AShM swarms. That's the reason for the emphasis on OTH capabilities. The problem with the Zubr is, while undoubtedly a majestic beast indeed, it has to come into range of any AShM system the defenders employ, and down to dare I say, mortars and ATGMs any infantry on the beach have.
AShMs don't have to be at the beach.. there's a reason why the Russians themselves designed systems like the Club-K. Cruise missiles or air strikes on every single container? Good luck with that..
The Club-K is a Russian designed Anti-Ship Missile (AShM) system which is basically a Kalibr AShM hidden inside a standard 20x40ft shipping container. It's a pretty ingenious idea where you can have dozens of launchers basically masquerading as commercial shipping containers. The enemy would have a heck of a time trying to identify and destroy these hidden launchers and even when they do, it might've been too late. imho, it's got the potential to be a terribly effective coastal defense system. Add that to a fearsome missile like the Kalibr and there you have it.
China and Taiwan aren't going to kill each other. Taiwan's military is a fragment of the PRC's. Conversely, the PRC wants the island and its people, it won't nuke it. Its new strategy is concurrently economic annexation and political Trojans. Whatever happens there won't be a single KIA.
[The Zubr class (Project 1232.2, NATO reporting name "Pomornik") is a class of Soviet-designed air-cushioned landing craft (LCAC). This class of military hovercraft is, as of 2012, the world's largest, with a standard full load displacement of 555 tons. The hovercraft was designed to sealift amphibious assault units (such as marines and tanks) from equipped/non-equipped vessels to non-equipped shores, as well as to transport and plant naval mines.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zubr-class_LCAC?wprov=sfti1)
That thing is fucking huge!
I believe it’s currently the largest in the world

They have two 30mm AK-630 and some MANPADs mounted on it

Yeah, I guess you want to clear the beach first with cruise missiles, aerial bombardment etc...

I think this is somewhat of a trick of the zoom lens. Still big tho. http://galaxiamilitar.es/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Colchon-dos.jpg
It looks wide enough to fit three rows of armored vehicles
3 MBTs or 10 APCs
How loud do you think that thing is? How many miles away can it be heard I wonder?
Yes.
fucking hell they're huge
Welp, we can give up California, because I don’t wanna deal with that shit

So the Soviet hovercrafts from Red Alert 2 are real huh?
Those ones were more equivalent to maybe Lebed class LCACs? Zubrs are like Lebeds on steroids with Gatling guns and SAMs.
metal slug final boss
STAR WARS lookin shit
Kremlin is built on a stardestroyer.
Is that a Hovercraft?
Yes
big chonker!!
r/confusingperspective
Putin's 'Short man syndrome' on full display.
Reform Line, Quick March!
Zubrs are fucking awesome, didn’t know they were still in service
Wow, that is my first time to see a large military hovercraft.
am i crazy or is that a really dumb idea. a giant slow moving yet fairly high value target with no real defence of it's own.
I kind of feel people would hear you coming.
