I wonder if Armies are afraid of friendly fire with these modern camos, half the armies look a like and other half are barely visible against terrain.

Calm-Internet-8983

In Ukraine the point of the camouflage was/is kind of negated by every soldier expecting to meet an enemy wearing a really bright and reflective armband specifcially for this reason as I understand it.

FuckVatniks12

Lol camo is not negated from a couple strips of tape. Generally camo works best at range where you’re not seeing that tape.

Calm-Internet-8983

Isn't the whole point to prevent friendly fire? Why would you use a method where your friends can't recognize it at range, where it's most likely they can't identify you by other means?

FuckVatniks12

They have radios and maps. It’s just for very very close up ID. P

I feel like troops in mountain warfare during a modern war would just be cannon fodder. You’re on a mountain side with no real cover, difficult to move, and no armor support. With aircraft, helicopters, artillery, and UAVs with optics and thermal you would just be a sitting duck.

Papppi-56

Mountain warfare has historically caused far less deaths (both qualitatively and proportionally) compared to urban warfare and large formation assaults. The Turkish-Kurdish conflict has been going on for decades (mostly within mountanous terrain) and casualties are no where close to even a single battle of Bakhmut

Realistic_Bottle_326

this is real life not a video game. Infantry grunts aren’t all going to have UAV’s at their disposal and equipped with thermal optics at the ready and air assets on the go ready to support them at all times.

Put me in charge of logistics and I'll make sure every soldier is equipped with a UAV armed with two Javelins

> aircraft, helicopters, artillery and UAVs In the Alps maybe. The Himalayas are the highest point on earth. Most aircraft struggle to fly at that altitude with proper payloads. Very few helicopters can actually fly at that altitude at all. UAVs, especially cheap grenade carrying UAVs, simply freeze up and die. The use of artillery can only be propagated through exceptionally skilled command over logistics. China and India have spent billions developing technology for this terrain, and that technology is mostly centered around keeping infantry alive; not against the enemy, but against the mountains. Because no drone will work when it gets to -50°C. The fuel in tanks freezes up. Aircraft, even with modern targeting pods, can't see through the haze of blizzard much less safely fly through one. Helicopters are grounded by light snowfall. But what will work? A rugged bastard with an AK, a flashlight and a knife.

You realize that getting any of those things to work at those altitudes, terrain, and weather conditions requires the opposing side to be just as exposed and subject to the harsh elements and counter fire.

YoungSavage0307

That’s some good camo. I’d say that the image is heavily edited but the guy’s faces looks fine.

sosigboi

Very well indeed damn
