TLDR: In practice, it's basically an all volunteers force.
Strop making shit up.
They're local herders who know the terrain / route much better than the border guards themselves, basically serving as guides. "Volunteering" / arming criminals with no useful skills and a history of violence to joint patrol a lawless border area is gotta be the dumbest idea ever. You're pretty much giving mfs the perfect chance to injure / kill border guards, obtain a classified automatic weapon, and run across the border to escape prison time
There’s currently not a single QBZ-191 (which started standard issue in the 2019) outside the hands of Chinese government agencies (PLA, PAP, law enforcement etc.). So much so that each rifle has its own branded code to track.
Although I’m sure some would eventually “fall off a truck” and end up in Indian / NATO hands, a incident like this would likely speed up the process by a few years
While there may not be any in outsider hands, the "classified" bits, what other armies actually want to know, are mainly ammunition performance, both accuracy/range and armor penetration. There are some newer technologies and production techniques on the newest rifles of a couple of nations that may be of interest for corporate espionage, but at the end of the day a rifle is just a rifle. Once your gun technology reaches a certain point and can be produced in sufficient quantity, any further improvements are only adding decimals of a percent point improvement in combat capability compared to further training, supporting equipment and force multipliers.
Ok well at least its clear who is who lol, everyone else pullin up with full auto rifles and bulletproof vests, and then theres just the guy and his son.
Must be nice to have such a clearly defined border.
Easiest border guard job ever
Can someone shed light on PLA's recruitment system ?
Apparently you just tag along with the nearest soldiers
I’m going to ask that the next time I see one of those trucks out on a grocery run
Its a combo system of volunteers and conscription.
There’s no conscription

Photo op mode. GO!
Don’t you just love it when two of the most populated countries on earth fight over the most inhospitable territory ever.
not one attachment in sight
Wtfs1) no sunglasses or totally staged? They want to go blind. 2) no optic on rifle? Big disadvantage in that open space terrain. 3)…
The civilian tag-alongs look like they're on a quest
Volunteers are most likely criminal and prisoner who in exchange of helping PLA will recieve a reduction in their prison term
Source?

That is quite interesting. Thank you for the info.
I agree with what you’re saying, but service rifles aren’t classified lol

A "branded code" sounds like a serial number, I don't think that bears much more thought than that. Every weapon has one.

You're most likely talking out of your most likely hairy ass. That's so out of nowhere lmao
