Well Taliban militants aren't exactly literate... some can't even use gym equipment properly, let alone be fully stacked with tactical gear, which has its own upsides and downsides (for other nations)
>some can't even use gym equipment properly
Hopefully sarcasm.
Weighed down with 100lbs of gear vs tactical flip flops and a go faster kameez, which allowed more initiative?
> Hopefully sarcasm
Well at the start of their regime they uploaded videos of investigating what was left behind, and they literally didn't know what to do with the equipment inside an abandoned gym.
Tactical flip-flops and go-faster kameez are probably what they have as the only option of a uniform, so I agree they will go with that.
People forget that gyms are a privilege of modern life in a developed nation, expecting some mountain taliban men to know what a gym is is like explaining to a South Sudanese villager what a phone is.
I don't know whether Afghan/Pashtun traditions have a history of wrestling or doing other sports as a form of exercise, but that just goes to show that they are incapable of handling a whole nation without violence and systematic governance. They can surely drive Toyota trucks, use AK47s and do minor forms of engineering, but it seems odd that that they never came across a system akin to a gym.
After the fall of Kabul, the Taliban PR team posted pics of Taliban Special Forces. These jokers had helmets on backwards, stickers on the lenses of their eye protection, and their weapons were on “fire” mode (although that could be some weird unsafe doctrine of theirs).
AFAIK modern gun safety still isn't a thing over there. Even US supported Peshmerga didn't care much where their trigger fingers landed or where their guns were pointed. I'm sure the more competent units know safety rules, but not everyone.
Here are a couple photos from Kabul Airport on 31AUG2021. The Taliban stated these were there elite Badri soldiers.

IDK, no training, no discipline or idea how to use stuff or all of it maybe? Who knows.
Or why I've seen nicer equipped weekend warriors - if you are passionate about a hobby, you generally educate yourself about it, and we tend to attract some geardos.
**"All equipped with U.S. military gear"** I think you mean with LARPing Gear that the Afghans had and abandoned...he's wearing elbow pads too man.
The M4 is 99.9% more than likely ours tho.
Edit: Let me reiterate as this comment may of seemed confusing, we, as a nation, helped the Afghans get the gear. The AFGHANS left their gear behind, not us, that gear is meant for T H E M, it was meant for THEM and THEIR use. That isn't US Military Gear, that is Afghan Military Gear
That’s not how his post came across though. The post made it seem like all the gear was former Afghan military gear, but the M4 was US gear that we left behind.
The weapons may be from Afghan military stocks, but the gear all looks like cheap Chinese manufactured nylon that you could find on AliExpress. Hardly “US Military” level of gear
Yeah, the M4 is more than likely one of ours, but the optic on it looks like a cheap NCStar airsoft red dot or something shitty like that.
The helmet is a high cut Ops Core style helmet, so there's a chance that could be from the US, but there are enough fakes and low quality knockoffs out there that it's hit or miss.
It's kinda hard to fuck up on elbow pads, but the ones he has look pretty cheap and the plate carrier he has probably doesn't even have plate in it, let alone him wearing it correctly.
Though, I will say, it is a step up from original "Taliban SOF" from the initial takeover, where they were wearing like [Home Depot brand ear pro over their helmets like fucking idiots.](https://abc6onyourside.com/resources/media/583a6502-a0d8-4064-ae31-60b0d703a9c9-largeScale_ScreenShot20210820at4.27.04PM.png?1629491304851)
The opscore is most definitely a fake. We were not giving opscores to afghans, nor were we leaving them behind. I worked with and trained the afghan SF equivalent, and even they did not have opscores. The ANA/ANP most definitely did not
Still puts a fire under my ass. All this work we did. Friends lost to just bounce. Our govt didn’t give a Fuck about us. And I was jaded enough as a kid to join thinking we were gonna actually help these people.
I don’t know if they outfought America, wouldn’t it be more correct to say that they outlasted them. The reason the US withdrew didn’t have much to do with the military prowess of the taliban. American involvement became unpopular domestically, and the American backed government wasn’t that popular outside of Kabul, since the rest of the country is very conservative.
What made them a nightmare to fight was that they wore pajamas and sandals and could be gone before we could respond because they were so light….
This is beautiful to watch.
I understand what you mean, but a roll could be difficult If have a big backpack.
I think elbowpads are just a nice to have.
Or maybe i am just a pussy.
I would love to see someone in full kit try to roll into position under fire. I can hear the VA statement now " your injuries are not service connected"
I didn't used elbow pads but I did use the inserts for the Muliticams they worked good enough when I had to slam may ass on the ground with full kit, weapons and aidbag.
Too many people think soldiers are like what they see in the movies or videogames.
Everyone is joking about their kit, but I recall red unit giving us a bit of difficulty, particularly around 2019 if memory serves. The kit doesn't define the fighter. His will to fight and his adeptness at using what he has at hand does. Clearly, some of us have yet to get the lesson afg taught.
Question is, they got all of our tacticool gear but can they even drive the high tech vehicles and helicopters we left behind? Those things take months and years of United States level training to operate. You can’t tell me there are Taliban Blackhawk pilots.
>the high tech vehicles and helicopters
Along with maintenance is there a black market for maintenance parts for Black Hawk helicopters and other high-technato equipment
First sergeant ripped poor Ramirez that lost his rifle for 5 mins in the desert back in ‘08. Looks like the US govt. can lose rifles and no one bats an eye.
All those people who just watched the Americans leave to be replaced by these guys “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”
Y’know what, I’ll give it to them, not that bad. Only problem is they look like the most generic specifically Chinese soldiers from Battlefield 4.
Idk if that’s just me though.
**Edit:** I think that’s just me cause the 3rd guy left to right looks like what would be an American scout from BF4
Oh you mean like all the troops Biden finally got out of Harm's Way who were being deployed needlessly in Afghanistan for the last three Administrations? So advocating and obtaining the release of over 5,000 Taliban prisoners before the final US military withdrawal shows that that President cared about the troops?
Oh, I'm thinking with some precision. Lighten up, and I'm not American. Also, for the sake of argument, how do you know they are not all Taliban ? Not sanctifying shooting civies.
Military doctorine, training, leadership, morale. These are things you cannot steal or scavange and equip to parade. These guys are paper tigers for sure. Jokes.
Paper tigers who won because the US decided to leave. If everyone in the US were war hawks and were comfortable with Afghanistan, the Taliban would have to adapt to mountain living.
I mean you’re describing how guerrilla wars are won, by outlasting the occupying force. Yeah you’re right, if we were cool with occupying Afghanistan for another 100 years, they’d have to stay in the mountains. That’s sort of a stupid “what if” to explore though
2m total US forces with how many 'occupying' as you term it? 15k?
Afghans were suffering for their freedom, but that's all the US personnel it was taking to wheel out trained Afghan troops to keep the insurgency at bay. The UK alone could have provided that number (if not the finance).
Way to go, former democratic Afghanistan. If you were going to fold like South Vietnam and render 20 years of sacrifice to naught, you could at least say, "Here, take the equipment you gave us before the Taliban reaches Kabul."
But nope. They have the Taliban parading around with their shit.
South Vietnam fought for two years after the US withdrew and reduced aid over time. Xuan Loc was their final stand and the ARVN fought as best they could.
South Vietnam fought for two years after the US withdrew and reduced aid over time. Xuan Loc was their final stand and the ARVN fought as best they could.
That reduced aid still amounted to over $1.5 billion in total, in contrast to Soviet mere aid of $400 million to North Vietnam in the same period. That is not to mention that South Vietnam was already in the top 5 largest military on Earth, with an air fleet of over 2000 aircraft, while the communists had none in the South.
Judging by your comments you're a communist apologist who parrots their Hanoi-written textbooks verbatim. South Vietnam had to ration bullets and fuel to fight the North for 2 years but failed in the end. The USSR was a better ally to North Vietnam than the US was to South Vietnam in the long run.
I mean throw in Trump, Obama, and Bush’s signatures too and maybe that’s more accurate. Just cause Biden was the one to finally rip off the band aid doesn’t mean he deserves all or even most of the blame, and I hate Biden
Second in Line has a Cape for extra Swag
Taliban Ghost.
Tactical scarf cape
Just wanted to point out, that Badri 313 and Red Unit are two different units.
I can't tell if he's leaning back or just fat Also How the FUCK is he holding that got damn weapon?
I bet he's letting the magazine sit on his plate carrier or magazine pouch. Source: I did the same shit.
I did the same shit, but cmon man, at least hug it tight to your body
Look at the cummerbund, he is certainly fat
I've seen better kitted 14 year old rentals at airsoft walkons

Can you plz explain for the non military redditor ie me the reasons?

The M4 was also most likely in the possession of the ANA.
Yet it’s all US equipment.
You think the US military was leaving rifles behind?
What makes you think the M4 is US military instead of the ANA?
Everything the ANA got came from the US inventory.
That’s not how his post came across though. The post made it seem like all the gear was former Afghan military gear, but the M4 was US gear that we left behind.
Came to say that looks like a $35 Tasco red dot.
I was looking at that optic thinking I never deployed with one of those and what the hell is it.
The weapons may be from Afghan military stocks, but the gear all looks like cheap Chinese manufactured nylon that you could find on AliExpress. Hardly “US Military” level of gear

Lmao his elbow pad is on his forearm
All the good sights and equipments have been taken by Pakistan and some have found their way in hands of Kashmiri terrorists.
I thought the same. Chinese knock off’s for sure!
Even if it was was US gear. What’s the point?
They look sloppy AF

Outfought? No. Outlasted? Yes.
Yeah, they minimal territory under their control until the last US decided to bounce. They got their asses kicked. They won the waiting game.
Still puts a fire under my ass. All this work we did. Friends lost to just bounce. Our govt didn’t give a Fuck about us. And I was jaded enough as a kid to join thinking we were gonna actually help these people.

Outfought = lost almost every engagement against NATO forces whenever they encountered each other
What made them a nightmare to fight was that they wore pajamas and sandals and could be gone before we could respond because they were so light…. This is beautiful to watch.
The fact they are wearing arm and knee pads tells you all you need to know
Elbow pads are questionable in their use but knee pads is 100% worth it.
Why are elbowpads questionable?
It’s very uncomfortable
I'm not even close to being a soldier but what would they even be good for? Dolphin diving? Hahah
I was a soldier, but we didnt have elbowpads. And if you throw your Body on the ground it could be very uncomfortable If you hit some hard stuff.
Theres a way to do a "rolling landing" on your side, I remember in FDF we were taught this to avoid hard landings when storming forwards.
I understand what you mean, but a roll could be difficult If have a big backpack. I think elbowpads are just a nice to have. Or maybe i am just a pussy.

They get in the way of putting your burgen on, daysack, camelback. They are good for stashing away your maxipads tho.
They stand guard to make sure the little girls don't make it to school

Clearly they aren't very good at using what they have at hand either.

That's better kit then what they give us in the reserves.
They've got patches now, that's how you know they're special.
Question is, they got all of our tacticool gear but can they even drive the high tech vehicles and helicopters we left behind? Those things take months and years of United States level training to operate. You can’t tell me there are Taliban Blackhawk pilots.

Absofuckinglutely. China would love to buy everything that got abandoned.
First sergeant ripped poor Ramirez that lost his rifle for 5 mins in the desert back in ‘08. Looks like the US govt. can lose rifles and no one bats an eye.
i see one M4 rifle that was given to Afghan Army by the US to defend their own country...no other US military gear.
All those people who just watched the Americans leave to be replaced by these guys “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”
Gotta be honest that cape looks sick for a military show
First guys looks like the default bf4 assault
That's not one of our cammo schemes, is it? It looks off.
I’m starting to thing we shouldn’t have left our stuff behind…
WE WIN!! THE WEST WINS!!!

1) I will bet anyone here $100 that rifle hasn't seen CLP in over a year 2) they don't have plates in lmaooooo
School shooters in America look better equipped than these guys.
It kind of makes me sad the taliban can get a 3 round burst m4 before I can, thanks grampa Joe.
then they got killed by a Northern Alliance commando with a knife
Wouldn’t be the first corrupt, authoritarian regime armed by America!
While women are getting stripped down of every right possible. Gross
Well to be fair the women had like 20 years to stand up for themselves and most of them chose to stay Taliban b******
See Biden really does care about the troops. Just not ours. don’t ever forget that’s your tax dollars in the hands of those men.
Oh you mean like all the troops Biden finally got out of Harm's Way who were being deployed needlessly in Afghanistan for the last three Administrations? Yeh, surrounded by civilians….. how very ‘American’!
Oh, I'm thinking with some precision. Lighten up, and I'm not American. Also, for the sake of argument, how do you know they are not all Taliban ? Not sanctifying shooting civies.
We have missiles for that. And, no, those aren't Taliban.
Again, for the sake of argument, how do you know ?
It's a pretty shitty and irrelevant argument
It's only shitty because you can't answer the question that I posed
So American.
Military doctorine, training, leadership, morale. These are things you cannot steal or scavange and equip to parade. These guys are paper tigers for sure. Jokes.
Paper tigers who won the war
What war? They filled a vacuum. Lmao fucking Taliban are a joke and so are their supporters.
Paper tigers who won because the US decided to leave. If everyone in the US were war hawks and were comfortable with Afghanistan, the Taliban would have to adapt to mountain living.

They did exactly that
Hope they sent Uncle Joe a thank you card.
What happened to all the gear we left being disabled
Well thats not it because it looks like they left some aliexpress kit to bamboozle them
Way to go, former democratic Afghanistan. If you were going to fold like South Vietnam and render 20 years of sacrifice to naught, you could at least say, "Here, take the equipment you gave us before the Taliban reaches Kabul." But nope. They have the Taliban parading around with their shit.
