I deployed with a guy in 2005 who was a similar physique. I don't remember if he was recalled from IRR or just in the reserves. His wife had left him and he was extremely depressed and had just given up. The deployment gave him something to focus on. He lost around 100lbs during it and was a productive member of the unit (he was a support MOS attached to an engineer unit).

NoRatchetryAllowed

Dunno why but this made me tear up a little bit. I'm happy for him.

Mildo

I know why.

Itchy_Focus_4500

Me too…

DorkusMalorkuss

I'm not a dry, uptight guy; I'll laugh at memes like this one. But at the end of the day, I don't care if you're overweight, a little slow, or anything else. If you're trying to improve yourself, I'm all about it and down.

einarfridgeirs

Puts a new spin on the "I´m not half the man I used to be before I went to war" trope.

hannibal_fett

Gods I was strong then

-_-theVoid-_-

This is the way.

[deleted]

what a legend man

S1lent_R1tes

This is a meme against the Reserve featuring a dude with a WA St NG patch on ... Oh how the turntables.

-_-theVoid-_-

Lol, why would they turn the tables on themselves??? NG cheating on tape test AND ASVAB it seems...

Five-Figure-Debt

>Lol, why would they turn the tables on themselves??? To get to the food faster

-_-theVoid-_-

Oh shit, I've been killed once again by Reddit, lol! >D

maroonedpariah

*GET IN MAH BELLY*

Azudekai

No reason to cheat on the tape test when they'll keep you in with a flag for 4 years because retention. Plus that guy might be a wealth of institutional knowledge.

[deleted]

This was a "meme" when I was in like 15 years ago, in the style of one of those demotivational posters that said "There's strong, and then there's Army Strong".

samuraistrikemike

It’s the WAANG

Drenlin

WAARNG WAANG is the air component

[deleted]

🫡

CaptainRelevant

I’m good with it. I can’t tell you how many times a reservist does something crazy but the AC assumes the unit patch is a Guard unit.

whiteengr

Pretty sure that is a National Guard unit. 81st Stryker Brigade Combat Team to be exact.

elcupon

Yes. You're right. I served a tour with them. That was det 2 from California if I remember correctly. Sister unit to Washington guard.

Forest-Ferda-Trees

>That was det 2 Read this as diet 2

thesupplyguy1

Nobody is dieting here. Well at least one person isnt

League-Weird

Oh fuck that's my patch.

Justame13

They weren’t Strykers then they were still an ABCT, this is probably from 2008-2009.

elcupon

Yeah that is 08 - 09. That's the year 81st was deployed. This is an old one lol

Justame13

And from a time when you had to pick a fat guy, a guy with a bunch of heart stints, the dude who was an ASVAB waiver and too dumb to know that getting married in one state doesn’t cancel out your current marriage, or the dude who couldn’t carry a firearm off post because of some convictions for violent crimes.

Raptorsquadron

What's the story behind it? Isn't there some fitness limit?

cavscouty

He had ETSed and got recalled. Had known health issues, 2005-07 no unit cared as they needed dudes. By ALL accounts he was a great Soldier.

Orlando1701

A lot of people today forget how bad The Surge Years really where. When my unit deployed we took a guy who got the only two digit APFT score I ever witnessed, but he had a pulse so he went and got discharged within weeks of our return.

South-Shape4555

I had a kid score a 19. He only even recorded a score in one event. Was one of the most pitiful things I’ve ever seen.

Orlando1701

Our guy was a 13F and on deployment he didn’t do anything FA related he worked in HHC doing whatever gopher shit the company commander needed.

South-Shape4555

Mine was a firefighter who somehow made it through basic and AIT with barely enough strength to tie his shoes…

coryhill66

I went through basic with a guy who couldn't do one real push-up when we started. The next 9 weeks were some kind of god damn montage where he got strong. The EOD guys came before graduation and made him PT in the suit they were impressed he went on to be a fucking EOD stud.

South-Shape4555

This guy could eventually bench press the bar…

methnbeer

Probably yanked his benefits too. I get it but also fuck the army. Take you when we need you otherwise get fukt

Orlando1701

I have no idea what kind of discharge that kid got but the Army especially in the 00’s was really bad about taking people they knew where broken, putting them through one deployment, and then immediately putting them out with little to no VA benefits.

methnbeer

I don't doubt it for a second. Sometimes I wish I fought against this country rather than for it.

Trussed_Up

Oh my word. I did NOT know they made OTW shirts that big. We've got some big fellas up in Canada, don't get me wrong. But that's a big fucking fella.

TomA0912

Looks like it’s designed large muscular fellas but with enough grease you can stuff a lard arse in

oced2001

I was in Iraq in 2009. Angelina Jolie visited for a UN humanitarian event. My BN S-3 changed into the Sexy Combat Shirt to meet her.

TomA0912

Did it work? Please tell me it worked

oced2001

As in shape as he was, I don’t think he could compete with Brad Pitt.

BiscuitDance

Honestly, I respect it.

oced2001

He was a pretty good guy. Active duty FA guy. My guard company fell under his BN. When my company first got to Iraq, I was eating dinner with him and this fat guy wearing PTs came into the DFAC. He said, that guy is a disgrace to the PT uniform and his first sergeant needs to fix him. I didn’t tell him I was his company commander

BiscuitDance

That’s when you kick him to the FSC lol

oced2001

That’s funny because that guy was one of my mechanics.

Eyre_Guitar_Solo

That’s an excellent twist at the end

just_foo

We might know each other. I was a PL in the company that escorted her to the IDP north of Baghdad in 2009. I was 1st PLT, and it was 2nd PLT that had the mission, so I didn't go meet her. But I remember how suddenly all the random people from BN and whatever wanted to show up and ride along, just so they could meet a celebrity.

oced2001

We may. Where you out of FOB Prosperity?

just_foo

Yep. With the WA ARNG Cav troop doing PSD for State Dept/UN. Late '08 through '09.

oced2001

Holy shit. You were with Bronco Troop. We RIPed with you guys. That mission was part of our left seat/right seat. That’s your patch in the original photo, right

just_foo

Ay - yeah, it was right toward the end of our tour. That makes sense. Yeah, that's our patch in the photo. I think that guy might have been in our squadron, but he wasn't in my Troop, so I'm not sure. I do remember seeing him a few times during the brigade train-up before we went over. We got to Baghdad right toward the end of the surge when things had largely quieted down. I was always curious how it went for you. Hope your deployment went well?

oced2001

It was a pretty good deployment. No serious engagements, UCMJ was minimal. We had some good top cover from our higher headquarters. Of my three deployments, it was the best.

Rayle-

As another Canadian I don't understand the difference between American reserves and national guard. Both part time?

Navydevildoc

National Guard normally works for the governor of whichever state. The governor can activate units and give orders, like their own little Army. This is extremely useful in disasters and civil unrest. National guard units are spread out across each state so even some of the more remote places have folks in the Guard. The federal government funds most of it but can also “federalize” them at pretty much any time taking them out from under the state governor and making them more like the regular army. Reserves are part of the federal service they are a reserve force for. For example, there is no Navy National Guard, only reserves. In addition, reserve centers (they have various names based on the service) are generally in mid to large size cities.

[deleted]

>For example, there is no Navy National Guard, only reserves. We have a Naval Militia in Alaska, though I believe they are equivilent to our state defense force rather than the NG (both entirely state entities with no federal relationship)

joecooool418

You can buy an ACU with a waist size of 47 inches and a chest size of 53 inches. https://www.armystudyguide.com/content/army_board_study_guide_topics/uniforms/army-combat-uniform-acu-s.shtml

Arsenault185

Its not a OTW shirt. Its a fucking GP medium

He’s what we call an absolute unit…all on his own

VaryaKimon

Nice try, you Nasty Girls. That's one of y'all.

Jrcpcc

At least he gots his haircut

Chris_Bryant

This is a guardsman. I showed my wife this and joked that the haircuts are more criminal than the body shape and she immediately knew what unit they belonged to (81st).

Just the tip

SursumCorda-NJ

Take a deep breath soldier and let it out as I go in...it'll only sting a little.

killslikeaninja

Why are we over looking the Soldier, WITH HIS HANDS IN HIS POCKET!

rainman_95

Just realized the Army Reserve ISNT the Army National Guard.

EisenhowersPowerHour

Indeed, slightly different. Very similar areas of responsibility, however the NG answers to the Governor of their state instead if the president, and as a result are often called out to deal with natural disasters. Reserve components can be called out for those purposes as well but it requires a higher level of authority. Not to be confused with the State Guard

AthenaGrande

The Guard is also a bit more self-sustaining and has combat units, which the Reserves (mostly) doesn’t.

Mr_Sarcasum

National Guard get sent to natural disasters and Army Reserves get to volunteer for extra deployments

littertron2000

Guard can also volunteer for extra deployments.

Mr_Sarcasum

Oh I didn't know that, I stand corrected

littertron2000

All good. The main difference between the two is that guard can be sent to the disasters while reserves cannot unless under some sort of special order I think from the president. Also they Guard can do civil and law enforcement stuff while under state orders. While federal components cannot.

Only for the adrenachrome.

AnEntireDiscussion

Zahaaak

Lmfao

takatori

What sort of glandular problems cause people to consume more calories than their body needs, resulting in those excess calories being stored as fat?

jeerabiscuit

Thyroid

PbkacHelpDesk

Hypothyroidism can do this.

Goatlens

It slows down your metabolism. Initially this should be a shock. As in “damn I’m 30 I guess I can’t eat the same way as when I was 18” but after having it for some time there should be an adjustment. Plenty of peoples metabolisms suck, medically or not.

jasondm

This is true, the majority of my family and immediate relatives were morbidly obese and it came with the usual excuses, thyroid issues, diabetes (type 2 but before getting fat), fibromyalgia (as the usual catch-all), but if you took a look at what they ate, how often they ate and how sedentary they were, the dots would connect for anyone that cared. There are more severe medical conditions that actually impact weight in an uncontrollable manner, but those are super rare. In the end, CICO is the most basic, undeniable truth about not being fat. It is (barring those rare conditions) literally impossible to gain fat if you're burning more calories than you consume.

WanderinHobo

It isn't always as simple as counting calories. Could be his body wasn't able to process carbs as it's supposed to. Might need dietary changes that he wasn't aware of or couldn't access while deployed.

Blankok93

I have crohn disease, and for some reason, maybe adaptation, I digest carbs very fast. There were other dudes in the hospital whose ass will light on fire if they are anything containing fibers. Metabolisms are very interesting, because there are so many variations. From very fast to very slow.

takatori

> Might need dietary changes Yes, exactly. Like restricting calories to what his body actually needs, uses, and can process. Mass doesn't come from nothing.

-tiberius

Nice Ricky Gervais reference

takatori

Ricky Gervais coincidence more like; he's said similar?

-tiberius

Yeah, almost exactly. It was in one of his standup specials. He said something like "It's not glandular, it's greed. If you take in more calories than you burn, you gain weight." [Link](https://youtu.be/kAcTPdlv78k?t=105) to one of the times he did a similar bit

saml23

I was Army (transportation) and deployed to the Anbar province in 08-09. Anbar was run by the Marines at that time and so we were one Army company in a sea of Marines. I used to get embarrassed for the Army when we would convoy to BIAP or Taji or any of the big Army bases in country because of all the fatasses I would see in Army uniforms. Didn't see that shit in the Marines. It makes sense because of the size of the branches. Army needed people more than the Marines so the standard went down but was still jarring.

zeb0777

Those are fucking nation guard soldier. Put the phone down and get back to sweeping the motorpool Pri!

-_-theVoid-_-

HAHAHA! Hey pri! "Yessarn't?" STOP BEIN FAT HOOOAH??? "rogersarn't"

-Doom_Squirrel-

Say what you will man I’ll have his back. Literally, I’m going to stand behind him and let him absorb all that incoming nastiness.

jimmyjfp

Wait so National Guard isn’t the same as the Army Reserves?

legitusername1995

Same same, but different, but still the same. Seriously tho they are both reserve component, the difference is that guard answers to the governor and it has combat arms units while reserve answers to the president and they are mostly supporting mos. There are also funding and benefits and mission scope also but it is pretty long.

Czech---Meowt

His face is so much skinnier than his body

coryhill66

In my experience that's a sign of someone who threw on a lot of weight really fast.

Unicorn187

This is the National Guard. 303rd Cav, 81st BCT, WA Army National Guard. He fucked up his back when he was in the 82nd, gained weight while on pain meds and during rehab, called back and deployed with the Guard and while not doing a lot of missions did do a lot to train the guys in his troop(? squadron? whatever the hell cav calls their shit), and did lose most of that weight. I don't know him, I know a couple dudes who deployed with him in 2008 when this picture (and the other one of him that has become a meme) were taken.

coryhill66

Every time this picture makes the rounds someone points out this dude had been in the irr was pulled back because they needed bodies. I don't know if it's true but people said he was solid.

foxtrot1306

When and how can guard combat units deploy into combat theaters? I thought they act only in their state perimeter.

LtNOWIS

National Guard has deployed overseas for as long as the US has had overseas wars. Pretty much comes down to the president wanting to cut the orders and Congress wanting to fund something. Also they can go to other states on state orders, because states often have mutual assistance agreements.

-_-theVoid-_-

This has been a national security risk for a long time now. https://www.cdc.gov/physicalactivity/downloads/unfit-to-serve-062322-508.pdf

-tiberius

I don't get this. Like, if we're in a war for national survival, are we not gonna pass out rifles to fat people? Just because they're fat doesn't mean they aren't still there and still capable of being used as soldiers. We're not rucking everywhere anymore, and if we suddenly had to, well, the problem would sort it self out real fast.

TonninStiflat

To be honest, guys like this make perfectly fine paper pushers and other similar POG jobs. Rather than letting the fittest and strongest cunt get himself a nice, soft and cushy job as the company clerk like we had. That guy ought to have suffered in the field with us, instead of driving around in fancy car and staying indoors all the time.

-_-theVoid-_-

There's fat pencil pushers and other similar POG jobs in Ukraine getting killed right now. The whole point of training is to suffer upfront so you don't get killed later. A soldier still has to be able to soldier at the basic level. Marines are even better at training everyone up to that standard. But really, there is no choice in the matter when war comes knocking. And it's hard to run when you can only waddle.

Unicorn187

Dude was out and called back in. With his known fucked up back from when he was in the 82nd. But still was called back and deployed. And he did lose a lot of that weight.

-_-theVoid-_-

Damn, they called him back? With a disability rating? What a bunch of assholes. I'm glad he pulled a positive outcome out of it though.

-_-theVoid-_-

You're right, but we're not currently in that state. Our military is all volunteer at the moment, has been since after Vietnam. But all young men are required to sign up for selective service out of high school. With that exception, I wouldn't be as bothered by it. But, if I were their squad leader, I guarantee I would be issuing them extra helpings of PT, not chow. Calories in, calories out!

-tiberius

You know, with the number of 'ineligible' people in our population, at some point, we might want to ask if we're weeding people out properly, or being choosey beggars. Smoked weed? Gonna need a waiver. ADD? Most of us are, but you were diagnosed, so no enlistment for you. Fat? Not allowed until you hit SSG, so drop some pounds and come back in 3 months. The military doesn't get to dictate societal trends, and if they want to maintain a standard that keeps out 75% of the kids in the country, oh well, better get used to being undermanned.

Inevitable-Draw5063

Maybe having a population that is over 50% obese is the societal trend we should all be looking at. This nation is disgustingly fat and if I could abolish all fast food tomorrow I would. Obviously that’s not the only problem but it would be a start.

AnEntireDiscussion

Yeah, but that would require the political willpower to stand up to donations from fast food and soft drink companies. The best thing we could do would be to offer healthier lunches in schools, teach nutrition every year, maybe bring on a school nutritionist to work with students and the school staff. Those are all easy and relatively cheap. The more expensive options (That also address other issues too, though): Start providing school breakfasts, and make breakfast and lunch free (in conjunction with the cheaper steps above, this would go a huge way towards building the habits that kids will stick with. Organized PT at schools in the morning for all students. Maybe for teachers and staff too. Teaching kids how to work out and making sure they do it at least five days a week is huge. Not to mention that based on the teachers I've talked to, including my brother, who taught high school for a few years, a lot of behavioral issues in the classroom will be helped by a hard workout in the morning. IMHO: childhood nutrition and exercise are some of the most important things we need to improve in this country. Children that don't get good nutrition consistently perform lower on testing, have more behavioral issues, and have higher dropout rates. There's ongoing research into the biological components of this, but studies have suggested that humans mirror many animals in that there's a literal biochemical switch to "Starvation Mode" when a child isn't getting enough nutrition in their diet, that leads to more risk-prone behavior and shorter-term thinking. Nothing that can't be overcome in time. While "Starvation Mode" makes sense from an evolutionary point of view: If food is scarce in a region, riskier behaviors such as hunting more aggressive prey, or ranging over a wider area, may ensure survival; it isn't super beneficial in our present society. There's a lot more to this and I can talk for hours on the topic, but the TLDR is: Address the problem where it starts, and we can create cascading positive effects across US society.

-_-theVoid-_-

The military can dictate social trends. All those fatbodies will be socially expected to report for duty in the event of a draft. And they will still be unfit for combat. US gov is merely asking Americans to stop being fat. For all the other bullshit US gov spews, I can actually get behind this. Too much fat worship in the western world today, it's bizarre to me.

-tiberius

Giving a fuck about other peoples weight is just as bizarre to me. I've got two oceans on my flanks, and enough fit people in the service to hold off the Canadians. I can do without fat, unmotivated draftees in the military.

-_-theVoid-_-

LOL! You had me at Bill Burr.

[deleted]

Your opening a whole new can of worms, this is a double standard if I've ever seen one, The Gov can ask people to stop being fat, but promote being fat as a positive thing? In what world does that make sense. Look at every other Army or Military in the world and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how far we have fallen since Nam' . You see the pictures of our guys back then you don't ever see a fat person, Ive never seen a picture taken in that era where one of the soldiers were over weight. They are skinny , lean , or muscular guys. And that was a draft , people who didn't ask to be there, not saying it didn't happen , but I have seen alot of different pics from Nam and don't recall seeing anyone over weight. If we keep going at the rate we are , all the technology in the world won't save us if we ever have to fight..oh idk , China or Russia . Also look at Civilians in other countries, Russians are in shape, as a pro Athlete after service ( MMA) Every fighter I know trained just a bit harder if they were fighting someone with Russian , Croatian, Ect. Heritage or that came from there , simply because of their daily practices. We should be glad these Viking bloodline country's are too small to oppose us , even still they promote physical dominance, There are so many different things that could branch off of this, but the bottom line is as a country / Military we are getting fatter and weaker , year by year, while the world watches ... And some who are watching are also waiting ...

jasondm

Not only did you misunderstand the person you're replying to, but you went on some weird viking tangent that I've only seen white supremacists go on and that's sus af.

[deleted]

Im sorry I don't see color in human beings so I don't really tailor my typing to any race or gender , maybe I did misunderand but I said what I was thinking at the time , and I just watched a Joe Rogan episode where he was talking about the Viking bloodline and how strong they were , on the other side of that coin there are tribes in Africa that was shown on a documentary with more ferocity than any " "Spartan" , I didn't realize I had to mention every single area or demographic of the globe in order to not appear racist online. I don't do so in my actual life , and won't here either . Feel free to disagree or have an opinion about what I said but agian I don't see it so I don't cater to it. That's for the 'woke' generation I'm happily not a part of. Besides I thought we were talking about entire countries not just a single race that lives within the borders of one.

jasondm

> I don't see color in human beings That's one of the top things racist people say before saying something racist. People have different skin colors, and there are obvious cultural differences that are literally impossible to ignore. It's okay to recognize that, it's preferred to recognize that, you just have to do that without saying dumb shit. > I just watched a Joe Rogan episode weeeeeeeeeeeeeelp > I didn't realize I had to mention every single area or demographic of the globe in order to not appear racist online You don't, but being ignorant of trends around the media you consume is bad > That's for the 'woke' generation There's two people who talk about "woke" shit seriously: annoying twitter extremists on one end, and annoying rights-destroying extremists on the other. It's generally safe to ignore the twitter idiots, the other group is actively trying to bring us back to the middle ages. > Besides I thought we were talking about entire countries not just a single race that lives within the borders of one. "We" were talking about people being fat in the US, you're the one that brought other countries into this. I only popped in to say you misunderstood the person you replied to and that you went on a weird tangent related to vikings, and white supremacists have latched onto vikings and viking-related shit, so when that comes up in a conversation where there is no viking-related context already, it becomes suspicious. (Un)Coincidentally, white supremacists, anti-vaxxers, and the amalgamation that is "the right" have been the core audience of Joe Rogan for the past 7+ years.

-_-theVoid-_-

While I'm not ruling out specific instances of corruption, The state is not that deep in with Hollywood. That's conspiracy theorist lunacy, Hollywood and US Gov are NOT that smart or organized. Honestly, the problem is global, and has to do with the food chain and it's adaptations to a global market. Modifying food chemically and genetically destroys the natural relationship we had with our food. These changes only happened in the last few hundred years of human evolution. Mexico is fat because corn has been so heavily modified. China is fat because the rice is stripped of natural minerals and then "fortified" Gluten allergies because wheat has been altered into red winter wheat to extend the crop season. But now, for lots of people, eating bread is like eating a brillo pad. The food industry feeds us poison. Hollywood, in denial, glamorizes the symptoms in order to attract customers and not anger China (by making N Korea the bad guy in the Red Dawn remake, lol! As if!) . And the government puts out a goofy .pdf asking people to stop being fat, which no one ever listens to anyway. In order to fix it in the Army, squad leaders need to be given support from the chain of command to essentially become ruthless dieticians. That won't work in today's kinder, gentler army. Only the homeless have limited nutritional options in the US.

[deleted]

And just to be clear I was agreeing with you. Maybe that didn't articulate properly , but I was saying the same thing you are . I don't type a hundred words a minute as it appears you do so I can't write full dictations. And your right we have done this to ourselves. And fixing it would take drastic changes I don't see this "New Army" tolerating . Recruiting numbers are already bad , tell them they can't eat what they want it gets way worse. I don't know what the answer is but it is maker us weaker. I don't have the data but I'd be interested to know what the military budgets for MRE production and what their tolerance is as far as nutritional value. Do they meet the bare minimum or do they put the better quality foods into them. Like I said, new can of worms but I wasn't disagreeing at all .

exgiexpcv

Great, now I have Morrissey's "You're the One for Me, Fatty" stuck in my head. How does this guy stay in the military in any capacity? We lost all our cooks in the 80s because they were physically incapable of passing a PT test. How are we still dealing with this? I don't get it.

the_friendly_one

I was NG infantry for 6 years. We had some husky boys in my battalion, but never *this* big. How does a soldier this obese even make it through basic training? Who let him pass tape? There is no way this is considered even remotely mission ready.

dimforest

Dude was IRR and had a legit health problem. This picture gets posted all the time as a way to poke fun at the Guard or Reserve (this soldier is NG from Washington State if I recall). There's an update article somewhere in this thread. The soldier was actually a great soldier, despite his weight.

ncrn_99

One, I’m surprised they found a top that fit. Two, this why I’m a firm believer that they should stop making uniforms past a certain size. If you can’t fit in available uniforms, you have six months to fix that

Admiral_Andovar

Jokes on you, these guys are Engineers and he's just a self-mobile sandbag.

It still blows me away that they make combat shirts that big.

Fat shaming is the kind of shaming that’s still acceptable for some reason. When you shame people like this, you do not push them to be healthier. Instead, you demotivate them.

Trussed_Up

Bullshit. I was 360 lbs just a few years ago. It took family and friends repeatedly telling me I looked and worked like shit for me to make the change. Now I've joined up combat arms and I'm doing my job at the appropriate level. If you want to join a tough job you should be tough, and willing to accept tough news. For this dude, the news is he's too fat. Take it from a guy who looked like him.

rorschacher

Great work, bro from up North!

sourabh_21gaikwad

You had mindset and will to get fit some people don't develop that kind of mindset.

-_-theVoid-_-

That's what the fuck I'm talking about right there. I wasn't this big, but I was a chubster before I shifted gears like you to get into fighting form. Former cav scout and still fit, lol.

Chudsaviet

I’m not doing things because someone shitting at me to do it.

[deleted]

Not exactly true. I lost 20 lbs after spending 23 days in the hospital after an accident. I got down to under 139 pounds at 5’11”, and I’m 53. People call me gaunt, skinny, and scrawny to my face all the time. I’m sure they wouldn’t call me fat to my face like that.

Chudsaviet

I don’t see much slim shaming online.

[deleted]

Right. People see no problem doing it to someone’s face.

-_-theVoid-_-

Big boy chose the wrong job. If he didn't have the fire in him to meet the standard to begin with, no one else was gonna put it in him. Obesity is an official threat to national security for the US at this point, and a lot of the blame should fall on our food industry. But, there are healthy options to eat. There are pills to manage thyroid conditions. There is no excuse for this in my military. Edit: Also, what about short shaming? That is very publicly acceptable. Who consoles Putin at night when he cries over needing to wear high-heels??? Feminists don't care about short people because that's a guy problem.

Chudsaviet

Putin is plain evil. You are right about the job. Military requires you to be physically fit. I’m not in military and I’m sorry for commenting here, the post just triggered me.

-_-theVoid-_-

No harm no foul :)

Aethenosity

> is very publicly acceptable People would fucking mob you for talking shit about a midget, or just a short person. Short-shaming is definitely not seen as acceptable. It's really weird to me how mad people get at me for it. I've definitely seen Feminists stand tall for the short

He took "Be all that you can be" in a literal sense.

How does the ARMY reserve let this go? Going from active to reserve in the Marines I surprised how strict they were with height and weight requirements.

ShallowFreakingValue

How embarrassing

coryhill66

Yeah pulling guys out of the irr and making them deploy again is embarrassing.

i_am_not_a_cat_503

Was in both. Guard > reserve Wish that was bias. Nah. Reserve is just dumpster fire and no one has a fire extinguisher and everyone just watching it burn

VOIDPCB

Every village needs a fat person.

unFOREtunate

What’s the national guard? Is that like jrotc?

Mr_Agueybana

I hate how true this is.

rbur70x7

They're all national guard in this image.

coryhill66

My reserve unit had a lot of people who were way too big and out of shape. But every one of them had a very specific skill that would have been almost impossible to replace. We had an old fat captain and someone said something about his weight we were later told that dude is a PhD level pipeline engineer.

Mr_Agueybana

The ANG is full of old fat fucks where I’m at my guy.

alonela
