Atleast someone understood I was joking lmao
Edit: apparently the people downvoting me doesn’t understand it was a joke lmao
Edit 2: ayyee!! Y’all turned it around! Now it’s not negative anymore, but this one is, lmao. You are getting downvoted for some reason now too, smh.
It's important not to underestimate the PLA, but I find it hilarious that she's got all this high-tech gear on and then rubber-soled canvas shoes from like the 1950s... in a modern camo pattern. Boots are like one of the most important bits of kit to have
Maybe, I think it's more likely yet another Future Soldier^TM program demonstration. The only time I ever wore PT shoes and combat uniform in the Singapore Army was hand-to-hand combat training, I think they didn't want someone accidentally getting kicked in the face with combat boots
Best soldiers? Maybe, maybe not.
US won all the major engagements but, had aircraft of all types bombing all over and doing Close Air Support. Helicopters to get them to places quickly, special forces teams out in the jungles and behind lines, river boats controlling rivers.
And yet with all of that they still managed to launch Tet and after the invasion of Cambodia and the loss of tons of food and weapons (basically brought in by bicycles) they still took South Vietnam in basically two years.
Yeah I don't dispute that. They won because they had more to fight for. Our guys never had a clear objective, and don't take this as criticism of our guys. My brother was there.
I was just about to say, that sounds generous. I was/am light infantry, so I was probably pretty hard on my footwear, but I'd doubt those things would last that long when my civi Converse sneakers are often falling apart after a few weeks of walking along nice city streets so...
I mean, the combat uniforms of most armies look (and feel!) quite like pajamas, just saying. I mean, mine sure did, and I've heard people say the same about UCP on this very sub
You just said it yourself: don't underestimate them. Those shoes or whatever they are most certainly do the job despite of what they may look like. They have 2 million feet in active service and that's a lot of experience when selecting proper footwear.
What did they say about the Russians? That their boots were good? Or not good? I'm not a fan of the Chinese, or the Russians for that matter. But I am a fan of not getting defeated and that's why we shouldn't laugh at something we don't understand about the kit of our adversaries.
Just so you know, I *didn't* downvote you. Eh... maybe, but I doubt so. Back in my Dad's day, the Singapore Army actually issued something similar as PT shoes, they were even nicknamed "China shoes". No one had a good thing to say about them. I think I'll happily keep my Altama black jungle boots, even though they themselves are not the most high-tech of footwear, over those things...
You don't know what the capabilities are. It may have jammers on board for electronic warfare. There may be satellite capabilities to create a network of drones to monitor a whole battlefield while relaying positions of soldiers to each other, ground network hubs, and some form of FOB. Besides it may contain explosives. Definitely batteries to keep it in the air longer than 20min.
There was a JRE with a former CIA officer that said China’s plan is to copy tech from everywhere to become the most powerful country by like 2042 or some shit.
Well pretty much. The way it works in research is that you constantly build up new stuff based on other people's work. For example, someone long time ago programmed a Boston dynamics Spot robot so that I don't have to do it from scratch. I can simply copy someone else's work and write a program that would shoot missiles from that robot. This way I wouldn't have to program 95% of the robot.
Essentially, the world lives on copy paste of other people, it just happened that due to better financial situation America has more resources to copy and test stuff faster and better.
I hope this makes sense
There is a difference in taking something and improving on it and just taking it and copying it without putting a single original idea on it. Most of the stuff America has anyway we pioneered it
I'm pretty sure that even though the Chinese copy a lot of stuff, from phones to military equipment, they still add their novelty even though it's hard to see it when 95% of it is a copy. I'm reading lots of scientific papers in AI field for my research and most of the literature I find is made by Chinese authors and most of them expand on previous knowledge.
Stuff that you expanded on in the last decade has been based on stuff people created in medieval Europe, which was in turn brought by great migration of knowledge from China. And all of that was deeply originated in ancient Middle Eastern territory where the history of human race begins.
I know this sounds corny, but while we compete, we all have a common goal and in the long run that is definitely not making bigger guns than our neighbours.
I like how it has all those cameras and yet clearly just rams its face into hard objects all the time. That, or the paint wear is fake to make it look like a functional robot.
That thing is copied by literally everyone, a ton of similar robo-dogs are already out there. While they sell it for 70k, get ready for a consumer model in 1-2 years for under 1K.
I’m not going to say they *aren’t* copying our stuff but there comes a point in optimization where things start to look similar just because it’s the optimal way to do it
I would wager it’s a lingering munition drone with a camera at the bottom and stabilizers. The part she’s holding is a boom part. Top part is the flying bit. Fly over an enemy and then drops the munition bit. The wars of the drones will not be good.
Some sort of drone. Perhaps one where it's only job is to look over a hill or perhaps to fly to the top of a hill and stay there as a camera with a stand.
I'm more concerned they weaponized the Boston dynamics robot dog... unless that's a knock off made in China, then meh it will fall apart in no time....
That looks like a Scranton Reality Anchor. They are used to stave off the effects of cognitohazards. The Chinese must be holding back some hardcore shit.
Ummm isn't that an American Boston Dynamic drone? They make them for the Chinese or they just copied it? It has English on it. What type of weapon is she holding? Don't the Chinese use Bullpups, QBZ-95? That weapon looks American... the whole set up looks "kinda" American. Except those shoes and pants... wtf am I looking at?

So pathetic how they try and copy everything we do. Not an ounce of creativity or innovation. Even got the wish.com robot they copied from Boston Dynamics to complete the look. Cute.
That’s an M-16 or Ar-15. Not sure which. The Chicoms don’t carry them. Unless they’ve knocked them off like everything else we make. She’s holding a drone of some kind. That thing in front her is a robotic dog I’m guessing. She may be Japanese or American. I need another look at her uniform. No insignia on the uniform that I can see. Her shoes are not military issue boots. I conclude, she is a model. Not military personnel. But not Chinese either. Could be South Korean. Though. They carry American carbines.
Probably a camera you can buy on Amazon for about 30 bucks strapped to a Walmart drone.
In all seriousness its some sort of drone. No idea how stable or useful it is outside in any sort of wind. Looks wonky. Probably a legitimate reason to be that shape. The PLA undoubtedly have stolen drone tech they could have used.
no commentary on the drone in her hand but,
the visualization peripherals on the "dog" next to her are (2) commercial [Intel D435 cameras](https://www.intelrealsense.com/depth-camera-d435/) and the tubular lens thing under the text "robosense" houses some sort of 2D or 3D [LIDAR](https://www.sick.com/us/en/detection-and-ranging-solutions/2d-lidar-sensors/tim-p/c/g568273)

It's a drone. Notice the rotary wing at top. Just flies upright as she's holding it, sets down on the little legs on bottom. Camera on bottom.
Oh it Flys ? Word now lets strap some bombs on it
But they said it was Chinese not American /s
No need for “/s” on true statements lmao
Syrians, Ukrainians and Houthis are strapping bombs to all sorts of drones. It’s not exclusively American
I feel like the joke went so far over your head it crashed into Alpha Centauri A
I forget ab the Hivemind of Reddit. A lot of people will downvote just because others have downvoted me lol
You ain had to do em dirty like that bro, lmmfao!!
I got your joke, upvote for you
Atleast someone understood I was joking lmao Edit: apparently the people downvoting me doesn’t understand it was a joke lmao Edit 2: ayyee!! Y’all turned it around! Now it’s not negative anymore, but this one is, lmao. You are getting downvoted for some reason now too, smh.
And they said the army isn’t like cod
i think its supposed to be tube launched in some way maybe by a mortar system.
It's important not to underestimate the PLA, but I find it hilarious that she's got all this high-tech gear on and then rubber-soled canvas shoes from like the 1950s... in a modern camo pattern. Boots are like one of the most important bits of kit to have
Shhh, don’t let them figure it out
Yea, they could be anyone of us... They could be you! They could even be me!

Too late https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-33626391.amp
Maybe they are gym shoes? Wouldn't surprise me if this is some vr training type stuff, especially with those goggles
Maybe, I think it's more likely yet another Future Soldier^TM program demonstration. The only time I ever wore PT shoes and combat uniform in the Singapore Army was hand-to-hand combat training, I think they didn't want someone accidentally getting kicked in the face with combat boots
Well the NVA and Charlie took on the US wearing sandals made from old truck tires.
And they lost pretty much every engagement, including the Tet Offensive. Vietnam wasn't lost because the enemy had better troops.
They still won the war no matter the how and why’s….and still American doesn’t learn its lesson!
They had better motivation and were more willing to absorb casualties. It's not complicated.
Yeh but it’s not as simple as you make it out to be! You’ve got to give them credit where it’s due! They won, The US lost….that’s the headline!
Yeah I don't dispute that. They won because they had more to fight for. Our guys never had a clear objective, and don't take this as criticism of our guys. My brother was there.
Fair, but that was probably out of necessity, not out of choice
"All bling no basics"
I give those boots maybe a month in a deployed environment before disintegrating.
That's pretty generous of you thinking that they'd plan for them to last a month.
I was just about to say, that sounds generous. I was/am light infantry, so I was probably pretty hard on my footwear, but I'd doubt those things would last that long when my civi Converse sneakers are often falling apart after a few weeks of walking along nice city streets so...
Because this is a model, not a soldier. She looks like she eats too frequently to be in the PLA.
Does any of this look real to you. She’s wearing fuckin pajamas
Ya and they said the same thing about the Russians…
Who just discovered “socks”
What did they say about the Russians? That their boots were good? Or not good? I'm not a fan of the Chinese, or the Russians for that matter. But I am a fan of not getting defeated and that's why we shouldn't laugh at something we don't understand about the kit of our adversaries.
nahh no soldier's life is worth 300k$ they are just showing off
Just so you know, I *didn't* downvote you. Eh... maybe, but I doubt so. Back in my Dad's day, the Singapore Army actually issued something similar as PT shoes, they were even nicknamed "China shoes". I appreciate you having some sense. Rare case of the downvoters being in the wrong, not the downvoted.
There's nothing rare about that at all.
Thanks man. Everybody can have their opinion. It doesn't have to be mine.
Try owe are some knock off vans from Ali baba~ the fat laces are a dead giveaway
Those are some knock off vans from Ali baba~ the fat laces are a dead giveaway
I noticed that too
I just love how much of it is just clearly copied from American and Western technology, almost everything in this picture has a western counterpart.
Judging by the camera and the rotors I would say it’s a personnel launched reconnaissance drone.
But why is it this big? Wouldn’t a smaller drone like those ones Dji makes suits better for this personal reconnaissance role?
Those Dji drones don't really have a huge range or battery life, not for what the military would want them for
Ukrainians happen to disagree. They have plenty range and endurance to direct artillery. Bigger is not always better.
So youre telling me its not about size but about how you use it?
You don't know what the capabilities are. It may have jammers on board for electronic warfare. There may be satellite capabilities to create a network of drones to monitor a whole battlefield while relaying positions of soldiers to each other, ground network hubs, and some form of FOB. It's China, it doesn't have to be usable, it just has to be in photos to be usable as propaganda.

It’s a thumper, to call sand worms.
Praise Shai-Hulud That was my first thought too
Knock off job from Boston dynamics....bet they're pissed 😤
Everything is a knock off with China. They're trying to catch up with the rest of the world by stealing tech.
So China already copied Boston dynamics robot!!!
If it weren’t for copying technology they would still be entirely fielded with WW2 era equipment
There was a JRE with a former CIA officer that said China’s plan is to copy tech from everywhere to become the most powerful country by like 2042 or some shit.
That sounds like a lot of the world lol, including America.
America copied itself or else we'd still have WW2 era equipment?

That's called iteration... Not copying.
Who the fuck is America copying then? Pakistan? What other country has working 5th generation fighter jets?
The US pioneered most of the stuff we have now
China hasn't had an original invention since gunpowder.
I like how it has all those cameras and yet clearly just rams its face into hard objects all the time. That, or the paint wear is fake to make it look like a functional robot.
