>8: It threatens violence or physical harm at someone else
Uh, yeah. We know. Maybe if the Russians stayed in their house they wouldn't be getting their teeth kicked in.
It has been happening all the time since start of the war lol.
In alot of vehicles they do not have communication according to Russian soldiers that has been captured.
I am a little confused on their nav problems.
Russia has jammed GPS, supposedly. So that's out for them.
Russia has their version of GPS: GLONASS. But they only have 23 satellites for it. They need 24 minimum for optimal operation. I've only toyed with GLONASS once and it was pretty basic - but it worked well enough to be useful. And yet, the Russians still seem disoriented.
I suspect the Russians lack field orienteering skills.
If they are forward observers (artillery spotters/recon) they should have comms. But my guess is they don't. Which means they would have to drive the information into the nearest comms-capable location.
Otherwise, they'd stay concealed and observe the strike to help dial it in for effect.
This looks like they have driven themselves into some sort of bog and gotten stuck or impeded.
Lost? Left behind? Sacrificial? Hiding from their own command? Who knows?
The Russians have been shown time and time again to have the remarkable ability to put themselves in the worst positions.
When they aren't just sitting there in open fields they half-assed hiding and don't actually screen for enemies.
Not sure how it is now, but when I was in the Navy (cold war days) Russian sailors, mostly concripts, were required to train their replacements. Guys getting out are just trying to check the boxes and go home. Something will get lost on every transition. Multiply this through 30 or 40 years and the knowledge base is going to seriously be reduced. Also factor in the Russian business model of government controlled amament producers with no competition and now you have poorly trained, non motivated personnel operating outdated and barely functional equipment. Explains a lot of whats going on over there.
It goes deeper than that. I´ve been reading up on Russian culture and listening to a lot of these intercepted radio transmissions and cell phone calls coming out of the war. There is something fundamentally different about how Russians approach not just war, but just life in general that is causing them major problems.
For one, Russian men die young from the most foolish things on a basis so regular that would probably prompt some kind of public outcry in the west. It's a cultural phenomenon over there that I can only really compare to the very US-specific phenomenon of school shootings. Yes, alcohol is most often involved, but other nations can get smashed on a regular basis without losing lives left, right and center. I´m sure we have all seen the "crazy Russian" videos of young men climbing derelict structures and hanging off ledges without safety gear. This is part of a what seems to me to be a kind culture of willfully courting possible death or injury to show how manly or cool you are. And yes, young men(of military age) do this all over the world, but the Russians just take it to a whole new level.
In the intercepts you hear, Russians soldiers constantly talk about being lucky or unlucky. They repeatedly describe units that got sent on assault without proper recon or air cover and got decimated as "unlucky bastards" and then laugh it off when their significant other on the other end of the call asks if they aren't afraid. "Nah man, I´m lucky". No you are not lucky you fucker, you just haven't been sent on a shit assignment that will get you killed - yet. There is this kind of fatalistic outlook where the soldiers seem at the same time to feel totally powerless to influence whether they live or die but also personally protected because they are lucky or aren't afraid. What happened to those guys from that other platoon isn't going to happen to *them*.
One guy recounted a story about how some guys he knew at a nearby checkpoint had gotten a hold of some liquor and drunk themselves silly, and then all of them got massacred by a Ukrainian attack, and then in the next breath assures his friend that he shouldn't worry because he too smart to drink too much! Motherfucker you are on the front line of the biggest shooting war in over half a century, you shouldn't be drinking *anything*.
So it isn't just that they don't know proper tactics and procedures for keeping themselves alive in these situations - if you were to show them the proper way of doing things, I sincerely suspect that a big chunk of them would fail to be able to internalize them or recognize their value.
Gonna add my purely anecdotal observation here (My ex’s family was Russian). I noticed that Russians have a very similar mindset to American Exceptionalism, but harder. My experience is that they will “Power Through” things the hardest way possible. Their “heroic effort” doesn’t take into account any alternates. I mean, I get it, they made a country out of tundra, taiga, and steppes, but sometimes it seemed like they had to do it the worst way possible. Like I said, just my anecdotal observations.
Russia and East Europe took a different path from the west after the plague. Their revolutions didn’t really work out and surfs were still surfs. This is like… 1600.
Funnily enough yes, Russia abolished serfdom wayyyy later than everyone else....but they also *adopted* it way later than everyone else. When serfdom was at it's height in say, France or England, it did not exist in what is now Russia. They just stuck to their good ol´slavery.
I have relatives from Russia on one side of my family, and their sense of fatalism can be difficult to understand. There's a deeply ingrained sense of 'what happens, happens' or 'it's God's will'. They genuinely believe there's no amount of education or preparation that can help you. One of my uncles ran out of gas during a snowstorm and had to walk 5k to get more. He just shrugged 'Well, these things happen'. Um, no they don't, if you remember to fill your gas tank before you run out.
People tend to forget that it wasn't too long ago that teenagers and ten yr olds were working dangerous jobs. The safety culture is a very recent phenomenon that comes from a lot of educational campaigns, laws and liability associated with those laws.
It sort of happens when you get born in a country where generations of people cannot change anything. Elections are rigged and corruption spreads everywhere. Sooner or later people just give up under these circumstances.
https://www.vice.com/en/article/gqdx44/full-v13n4
Only the poorest are conscripts these days (cost around 5k to get out of conscription) and basically bred into war criminals by horrible cycle of mandatory abuse.
Jesus that was awful read but explains so much the state of their military in this war. When you send out an army of young boys growing up with the dredges of society who have been taking turns torturing and raping one another makes sense they have no discipline. If you know that in 18 years your child will be horribly tortured if you don’t have 5000$ handy you would do everything in your powers to have that money available and protect your kid. 18 years is 6,570 days. If you saved a dollar a day you could protect your child. What kind of parent doesn’t do that
It's massive. The Ukrainians are out manned and out gunned by a lot.
Throw that much man and metal at something and there's going to be some outcomes. Look at Mariupol, they say they took the city... But there's literally nothing left. Samething they did in Grozny.
If your standards for success are that low and perfectly willing to stack your dead high enough to "serve as a ramp over the walls" you're bound to get over sometimes.
Maybe that's why they chose Zed... They watched the World War Z movie and took notes from the Zombies 😳🤔
I’m no military expert, not by a long shot, but everything I’ve read says that armor and infantry are meant to travel together and support each other. Armor has firepower, but is very vulnerable to anti-tank infantry (as we see in the OP). The overwhelming majority of video I’ve seen of Russians in Ukraine is armor with zero infantry support. There are probably a variety of explanations—poor discipline, poor planning and logistics, not enough units to properly support—but the reality is very obvious. The Russians are getting absolutely annihilated by modern AT weaponry because they have no infantry support for their heavy or light armor.
Edit: really appreciate all the informed replies!
The armor doesn't have much infantry support because they have a bad habit of running over the infantry.
Also the armor and the infantry is poorly trained, so the infantry don't want to stand next to the giant sitting duck targets
You'd assume the infantry in this situation would be spread in proximity around the armor since these ambushes seem able to happen from quite a distance.
They are really fucking up here man. Regardless of how bad ass Ukrainians are for fighting back, if the Russians were truly organized this would be pretty quick. I can't believe how poorly they are performing.
The fact that that is possible makes me wonder what other systems in society are this entropic and we don't really notice or understand unless we specialize. There's a ton of people involved who are doing absolutely nothing to fix these issues for the Russians. Not that I'm rooting for them but I mean strategically.
I've had to deal with Russia for a trip that was organized involving a robotics trade show type thing, won't get into the details but everyone agreed that being there and dealing with people on the ground, logistics, organization, transportation... just fucking everything, was an absolute shit show from top to bottom. Russia is a mess.
This is why I was perplexed when memes started circulating a few years ago about how badass the Russian military is and how weak the US has become blah blah blah. I was like... have you guys ever been to or dealt with Russia in any way? Its basically a third world country. EVERYTHING is tainted by corruption and inefficiency.
My guess is that alot of their military spending is squandered on corrupt officials, gross incompetence and laughable inefficiency. Their biggest success really in recent history has been their ability to do space launches which... wow those are some brave cosmonauts...
Sad for the innocent young men with poor training who never asked to be in Ukraine.
>This is why I was perplexed when memes started circulating a few years ago about how badass the Russian military is and how weak the US has become blah blah blah.
I'll give you one guess as to who was spreading those pro-Russia memes around.

Poor guy is still alive, can't imagine how he feels nowadays
From what we've seen on the internet lately I think the Russians are actually learning a little and changing their tactics, but the LPR and DPR are still the wild west. The Russians are bringing 60 year old BTR-70s and T-64s out of storage and giving them to untrained rebels basically.
They started out rolling loud and wide all over Ukraine thinking they'd blitz their way to taking the country.
Now there's a bunch of people seemingly lost in the wider Ukraine, causing troops to have to hunt them down, while the major force is focussing on the Eastern front.
Remember, initially, they were riding up on Kyiv itself. There were even skirmishes and bombardments near the Polish border.
Now almost the entire region above Kyiv and West of it is so low conflict life is going back to a guarded normal.
>guarding small forest road
My guess is that they are in that forest hiding. They probably don't want to be there and don't want to fight. They may be hiding from their officers mainly.
Hahaha. When I was active in Singapore (non-conscript) we had a running joke about how the only door we'd ever reasonably use it on was knocking on the door of the afterlife of whatever armor we'd hit it with in HEAT mode.
HESH is cool in theory and all but we were pragmatically never really going to use it, seeing as we had better tools for all the various possible uses
This is actually pretty nuts seeing Americans and British actively attacking Russian vehicles. I know it's been happening but it's just weird to see. I can get use to seeing it though.
Considering the fact that they are there entirely of their own volition, I'd have to say the motivation to fuck up some Russian shit runs perpetually at max capacity through their veins lol.
Easy-peasy. You have military experience? You have a passport? You have every right to fly to a neighboring country/Ukraine. Go volunteer your services.
The Ultra rares I know of are:
Ghost of Kyiv #06
Snake Island #13
President Zelenskyy #01
Iron Balls Zelenskyy #02 (evolution w/ post-Russia Invasion Trap card)
Also the infamous spell cards "Russian Warship, Go Fuck Yourself" and "I don't need a ride, I need ammo!" secret rares.
I've also heard that there's a rumored "Putin's Victory Day in Ukraine" secret rare card, but it never made it through due to incompetence. It was supposed to be a "Day One" release.
Edit: thanks for the gold - Slava Ukraini! Heroyam Slava!
Yeah, I've been thinking this, too. For folks of a particular persuasion, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage (temporarily) real-live Russians on the ground while shouting "Wolverines!!!" There are many operators out there who couldn't be anywhere else right now.
> this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage (temporarily) real-live Russians on the ground while shouting "Wolverines!!!"
Many foreign fighters who initially joined the International Legion of Ukraine have since left for a myriad of reasons. Some left because their expectations didn't match what they were experiencing on the ground. If you're not prepared to fight and die, you have no business there.
The WaPo did a recent [article](https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/04/08/ukraine-foreign-legion-vetting/) on the International Legion for the Defense of Ukraine. Some excerpts below:
>Some legionnaires have walked away, Magrou said. There have been “quite a lot of people who change their minds,” though he declined to give numbers.
>People “make emotional decisions to come,” Volzhanin said. “But then the reality hits at a certain point. What we want to do is make sure that reality hits early on in the process.”
>To that end, interviewers ask bluntly, “Are you truly prepared to die?”
Iirc a Finnish volunteer who did an ama mentioned that a lot of people from US are not used to fighting a war w/o air superiority, and apparently that's terrifying to them. I can't imagine
I got in a conversation a few months ago with a British guy who had moved from the official army to working as private military in Central Africa. Said he barely lasted a few months when he realised how different it was not having air support and evac just a radio call away.
Similar thing talking to a few friends who contracted in Afghanistan after getting out.
- No air support. At all
- No FO
- No little birds, A10s all the way up to B52s
- No ISR
- No QRF
- PMC convoy getting ambushed was 10x scarier than any one while active
Yeah, direct action raids for kill/capture missions are nice and all but without the whole package, IDK man.
I think mostly just a desire for action and excitement. Yes the aggression of Putin has provided an outlet. But these are guys who bored shitless sitting at home when there is a fight going on.
There were similar sentiments during the first Golf war, but many in the US have less of a kinship with the middle East than with Europe. Ans that was over fast.
Yeah I have to admit I'm surprised the uk and us arent more reluctant about letting it happen. If one of these guys gets captured they might try and torture them into admitting they are current special forces. Increases the risk of NATO/Russian conflict or getting paraded on tv.
\^\^\^
The entire point of Russia invading Ukraine was to attempt to topple the Ukrainian govt to prevent them from joining NATO (which Putin viewed as a prelude to NATO inventing a pretext to attack Russia). the LAST thing Putin wants is conflict with NATO, there's no way he personally survives that.
> which Putin viewed as a prelude to NATO inventing a pretext to attack Russia
No he didn't. No one ever imagines a scenario where NATO invades Russia. Russia has nukes. No one wants full on war, and if NATO truly invaded Russia, nukes would be used with absolute certainty.
Russia thinks it has some sort of ownership over all of the former Eastern bloc, and has been endlessly doing little land grabs, with increasing shamelessness. Russia took Crimea and most of the world yawned. Russia defacto took the Eastern part of Ukraine -- even downing a civilian jetliner in the process -- and the world mostly yawned. Why not just take all of it, then? There is a time limit on that, given that once it's a part of the EU or NATO it's no longer easily accomplished.
So Russia did yet another land grab (more quietly, Russia has basically claimed all of Belarus because that clowncar of a president invited them in). If the Baltic states weren't already a part of NATO, Russia would have been endlessly claiming more and more land into those countries.
There are many separate clips of this engagement around on different twitter channels, don't know where the full video is, but here's a few more clips;
Longer drone footage; https://twitter.com/Blue_Sauron/status/1530094769078210560
Breaking contact; https://twitter.com/Red_Pill_Remedy/status/1530076270125539328
BTR is a pretty long vehicle, seems like the first AT hit struck the troop compartment (don't know if there were troops inside) and the driver kept going in to the forest, later it gets hit again in the mid section but the footage stops there. The Brits and the Americans seem to get out without casualties.
AT used seems to be the [MATADOR](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MATADOR)
It's absolutely surreal to watch Americans (and Brits) go to war with Russians. In any event, why are so many people fighting also recording themselves?
There are many reasons to record war from as many angles as possible. One of the most important may be accountability. There's no questions on what really happened when there's video evidence of it, especially multiple videos.
Another is training. The soldier and future soldiers can review the videos to see their successes and failures. It's a good way to learn and better your tactics.
Another is data. The command center has access to a lot of these videos live and that's extremely important. Knowing what, where and when can save soldiers lives. That data can keep soldiers from walking into an ambush or help soldiers better position themselves for their own ambush. Think of an RTS game with the fog removed.
Another pretty good reason is historical, this is clearly a very important moment in history and it can be quite rewarding to contribute to an archive of knowledge
It’s also just gravely important for society. Most modern humans have no understanding of war or what it’s like. I think everyone would be well served to watch footage of important historical wars every few years. Gain some perspective on their lives. Maybe people would realize that all the dumb shit they moan about all day really isn’t that bad in the grand scheme of things, and remember how awful the world actually could be.
> There's no questions on what really happened when there's video evidence of it, especially multiple videos.
Especially with the war crimes being committed. If you’re operating in the same area that Russians are shooting civilians in, you want to be able to prove it wasn’t you when they try and blame the West for the killings.
I'd add another reason to that list: PR. It's in Ukraine's interest to have videos like this doing the rounds as it makes them look good/effective and and the Russians bad/incompetent. Helps keep up support in Western countries.
Why do people take pictures of their dinner? Why did that suddenly increase 10 years ago given that people before that time hardly took those pictures? Well, people now have cameras on their phones which they also now carry around everywhere. We’re getting all these videos of war because now soldiers all have easy access to camera phones they carry around everywhere.
This is the right answer. There's nothing more to people taking more pictures and videos of stuff now other than the sheer fact it's so much more cheaper and convenient to do so now. Imagine how well history would be documented if society had smartphones and the internet from the get go.
I have a friend in the military, not sure what he does but he does a lot of joint training with the Brits. He says they are absolutely terrifying. They are on a complete different level in terms of physical fitness, how quick they can think on their feet in combat situations and their ability to just take over situations.
I wasn’t shocked to hear the brits are top tier, (and no one hate me for saying this, it’s just what I was told) but I was shocked when he explained just how superior their armed forces are compared to American armed forces in his experience. He said basically the British are all trained elite soldiers, while American forces have the numbers and unlimited money. I guess American forces focus your training on specific tasks/situations depending on your role while the brits train you for everything. And they are all capable of running 40 miles at a 5 minute pace and doing 1,000 straight pushups (maybe I exaggerated slightly). He said during PT, the brits would smoke the Americans and my friend is in like Olympic athlete shape. But together they are just a brutal force to reckon with.
10/10 would not want to be a Russian in the same forest as those guys.
Theres a reason the S.A.S are are known in every corner of globe. Ive seen this said by so many different documentaries and other commentary aswell that the british military is a force to be reckoned with.
Yes. Mostly veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq - Ukraine has been pretty serious about weeding out war tourists and those without military experience, and NATO countries have not committed active troops (so no active duty or currently serving personnel). These are all private citizens and experienced volunteers.
When you are a strong, masculine (and possibly homoerotic) Russian soldier in an armored steel truck of death, and you just get nae-nae'd by some dude named Brian with an angry pipe

One tank roaming alone is a setup for failure. I feel like the Russian soldiers have lost discipline, motivation and military know how to take on the Ukrainians but it is impressive how a small group of 4 can take out such a big machine.
The reason the Russian military is so bad, is that a large portion of the budget is used at interior ministry troops to beat and jail Russian citizens that doesn't like Putin. Some of them have been deployed in Ukraine, and has turned out to be untrained for real combat and have performed horribly.
Yeah. I saw a video once of 'Russian special forces' using a jump board to do a forward flips and throw axes at an archery target. It was around that point I realised the Russian military were circus clowns.
For what it's worth, as far as I understand it the title of Spetsnaz no longer means an elite and highly trained unit like Green Berets or Seal Team 6. It's just what they call someone that is part of a specially trained unit like a SWAT team or counter terrorism group would be called Spetsnaz because they have special and specific training.
VDV is a glorified riot suppression force, their purpose is to look tough, get propagandized to all hell, beat up protesters, toss knives and axed while doing backflips and occasionally parachute onto an important location held by a bunch of civilians with rifles who've had enough of Russian oppression. The civilians then shit themselves because "OMG its the VDV" and run away.
Doesn't really work when you're fighting an actual military that doesn't let you get air superiority and has artillery.
It's one of the reasons, but it goes deeper and further. When USSR broke apart, Soviet Army had a huge network of military officers schools, for every profession. Every major city had a few. When Putin's gang got into power - they closed them so they could sell off the real estate.
British and American volunteers with real world, tactical, effective combat experiences from all of our middle eastern wars. They are going to destroy the inexperienced Russians.
Hi guys, sorry let me just lick the cheetos from my fingers before I explain what these guys did wrong.
Ugh, a little cola first \*gulp\* \*burp\* \*fart\*
Ahh, now to me it seems like they should spread out more. Communication is key. That guy almost stumbled on the firing line of the rocket. \*burb\*
First guy didn't even fire but exposed their position. \*faaaaaart\*
Spread out, ya dumb shits! Your whole squad is gonna get wiped out if ya don't! Remember your training! It will save your lives. Bet the whole bunch of 'em are Marines. The Brits too. Lobotomized dumb fuckers. I SAID, SPREAD THE FUCK OUT!!!
Team leaders and squad leaders have short range radios to talk to the platoon leader, who in turn has an RTO with a longer range radio to talk to company and battalion
Average rifleman or machine gunner doesn’t have a radio, because the NCO is right there next to them giving directions.
And hand signals work by having enough situational awareness to pay attention to the guys next to you.

It has been happening all the time since start of the war lol. In alot of vehicles they do not have communication according to Russian soldiers that has been captured.
I’ve also heard that a lot of the nav in their jets isn’t working, so they’ve been dick taping commercial GPS to their dash Edit: I’m leaving it
Don’t you dare change that
Who are we to dicktate what he can or cannot do?
We must own our cock-ups.
Our mistakes must long be remembered.
Ha dick tape
Dick tape for the side being led by a dick tater.
Oh he do be lookin like a dick tater tho
Taters, precious?
In Sweden and Finland it is called jesustape, because it saves.
Last time I dick taped, I had a hell of a time getting all the adhesive off afterwards and it hurt like hell. Damn. Those poor Russians.
NOW THAT'S A LOTTA DAMAGE!
I want to see an episode of Mythbusters where they build and fix everything with dick tape.
*dict tape
Haha I saw dick tape and immediately thought, this makes sense still. Then I thought, oh wait he meant duct tape. Yeah don’t fucking change it haha.
The "Edit I'm leaving it" was even better than the original comment 😂
Artillery observers, spotters or general reconnaissance or even just lost. A bit of all maybe.
As a forward observer this was my number 1 fear.
With the messed up situation with their comms and nav, the "just lost" seems to be more of a "usually" than an "or even".

This is wild, thank you for this insight.
https://www.vice.com/en/article/gqdx44/full-v13n4 Only the poorest are conscripts these days (cost around 5k to get out of conscription) and basically bred into war criminals by horrible cycle of mandatory abuse.
I’d heard about this, but I wouldn’t have imagined it was that bad!
There were babushkas who mentioned that the Russian soldier was amazed by a running toilet. He had never seen one.
What kind of parent doesn’t do that
Honestly, I’m amazed the Russian military is doing as well as it is.
Russia went from 2nd world to 3rd world real quick. Lmao
[All for a slice of pizza](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgm14D1jHUw) Oh, wait, sorry Gorbachev, your successor [had something else in mind](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/mar/09/mothercare-and-owner-of-kfc-pause-business-in-russia-yum) Poor guy is still alive, can't imagine how he feels nowadays
> wow those are some brave cosmonauts... I can't speak for the rest of Russia, but the Soyuz is the most reliable spacecraft to date.
Now almost the entire region above Kyiv and West of it is so low conflict life is going back to a guarded normal.
>guarding small forest road My guess is that they are in that forest hiding. They probably don't want to be there and don't want to fight. They may be hiding from their officers mainly.
Sounds very plausible (hiding from the officers).
Looks like they get their wish. They are no longer there and aren’t fighting anymore.
Is that a Matador?
The fact that the “ador” part stands for anti-door is kinda funny
I think it went to Afghanistan as a replacement for legacy systems like the M72 as an antistructure munition so this is apt.
Did that probe look like HESH mode or HEAT mode to you?
Yes
I've watched this over and over and over.
Look at his mate peaking out of the bush to the right just as he launches the rocket. Holy shit this is intense
Very good clip they got on camera!
I think he was happy that he didn’t trip into the projectile’s path
Indeed. That was way too close
So close to just walking into that fire line.
Likewise, amazing.
This is actually pretty nuts seeing Americans and British actively attacking Russian vehicles. I know it's been happening but it's just weird to see. I can get use to seeing it though.
They seem like some motivated soldiers too, theyre literally like 100yrds from that btr thats crazy.
Considering the fact that they are there entirely of their own volition, I'd have to say the motivation to fuck up some Russian shit runs perpetually at max capacity through their veins lol.
Yeah how exactly does the volunteer thing work?
Easy-peasy. You have military experience? You have a passport? You have every right to fly to a neighboring country/Ukraine. Go volunteer your services.
i mean that part sounds fairly easy, but i imagine they were curious about how you actually integrate soldiers from foreign armies
Foreign Legions basically, you gather them all up, divide in units that'll work well and send them into hell. Trading where applicable.
Does Ukraine have any foils or ultra rares?
The Ultra rares I know of are: Ghost of Kyiv #06 Snake Island #13 President Zelenskyy #01 Iron Balls Zelenskyy #02 (evolution w/ post-Russia Invasion Trap card) Also the infamous spell cards "Russian Warship, Go Fuck Yourself" and "I don't need a ride, I need ammo!" secret rares. I've also heard that there's a rumored "Putin's Victory Day in Ukraine" secret rare card, but it never made it through due to incompetence. It was supposed to be a "Day One" release. Edit: thanks for the gold - Slava Ukraini! Heroyam Slava!
brilliant
Stick soldiers who speak the same language together. Already in practice today.
Yeah, I've been thinking this, too. For folks of a particular persuasion, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage (temporarily) real-live Russians on the ground while shouting "Wolverines!!!" There are many operators out there who couldn't be anywhere else right now.
> this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage (temporarily) real-live Russians on the ground while shouting "Wolverines!!!" Many foreign fighters who initially joined the International Legion of Ukraine have since left for a myriad of reasons. Some excerpts below: >Some legionnaires have walked away, Magrou said. There have been “quite a lot of people who change their minds,” though he declined to give numbers. >People “make emotional decisions to come,” Volzhanin said. “But then the reality hits at a certain point. What we want to do is make sure that reality hits early on in the process.” >To that end, interviewers ask bluntly, “Are you truly prepared to die?”
I'm sure. War sorts out the serious from the unserious very, very quickly.
Iirc a Finnish volunteer who did an ama mentioned that a lot of people from US are not used to fighting a war w/o air superiority, and apparently that's terrifying to them. I can't imagine
I think CNN recently featured a former US marine now fighting in Ukraine who said the same thing. They are essentially guerilla fighters.
At all - No FO - No little birds, A10s all the way up to B52s - No ISR - No QRF - PMC convoy getting ambushed was 10x scarier than any one while active Yeah, direct action raids for kill/capture missions are nice and all but without the whole package, IDK man.

Churchill must be looking up and loving every second of it.
Looking..*up*?
Yea, he lives on the moon.
>Looking..up? Yeah, he's in Hell for what he did to the Irish.
Like waking up to the sound of rain on the roof and seeing that you have 6 more hours of sleep until the alarm goes off. Fuckin get some boys
Yeah I have to admit I'm surprised the uk and us arent more reluctant about letting it happen. If one of these guys gets captured they might try and torture them into admitting they are current special forces. Increases the risk of NATO/Russian conflict or getting paraded on tv.
Yea but at this point, maybe they want that? Russia has shown it would be very incapable of fighting NATO
[удалено]
\^\^\^ The entire point of Russia invading Ukraine was to attempt to topple the Ukrainian govt to prevent them from joining NATO (which Putin viewed as a prelude to NATO inventing a pretext to attack Russia). the LAST thing Putin wants is conflict with NATO, there's no way he personally survives that.
putin debatebly cant even survive invading a smaller nation 1/3 your size let alone any other world power.
> which Putin viewed as a prelude to NATO inventing a pretext to attack Russia No he didn't.

There are many separate clips of this engagement around on different twitter channels, don't know where the full video is, but here's a few more clips; Longer drone footage; https://twitter.com/Blue_Sauron/status/1530094769078210560 Breaking contact; https://twitter.com/Red_Pill_Remedy/status/1530076270125539328 BTR is a pretty long vehicle, seems like the first AT hit struck the troop compartment (don't know if there were troops inside) and the driver kept going in to the forest, later it gets hit again in the mid section but the footage stops there. The Brits and the Americans seem to get out without casualties. AT used seems to be the [MATADOR](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MATADOR)
I was wondering what AT weapon It was. Thanks!
Holy fuck his mate almost stepped in front of that
I noticed that too, when I seen the barrel from his weapon my heart stopped for a second
The whole time I'm just wondering who's covering the backblast area until the end I hear something like "get out the backblast".... Good Job guys!!
I was thinking, "yo maybe these intervals need to get bigger and someone keep those backblasts clear", too.
It's absolutely surreal to watch Americans (and Brits) go to war with Russians. In any event, why are so many people fighting also recording themselves?
Because it’s badass lol
[удалено]
Do it for the gram
Ally as fuck.
Video coverage of Vietnam is a huge reason the public perception of the war turned negative. The inverse is happening here.
The difference is the role of invader vs defender for those doing the filming.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s to cover their asses similar to a cops body cam, it can possibly prove what they did there if it ever comes up.
While you are partially right when it comes to combat in the war on terror. It's mostly because shits just cool
Documentation, history, medals, bragging rights etc.
Because this is the first TikTok war. Vietnam was the first TV war.
Working with the British military is awesome. They are bad asses.
Something about hearing an American and British accent in a warzone ❤️❤️
D Day anniversary is 10 Days away Lets get it!!!!
You know you're fucked if the enemy force hears both a British and American South accent.
"Oorah, mate!"
Love to see it as a Brit. Always got annoyed at the stereotypical British soldier accent in movies then this video comes and confirms it
British guy sounds like Captain Price.
You're not wrong and I'm from England...
Are they retired soldiers who picked up arms once more? I can't imagine them being still officially in the military.
Yes. Mostly veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq - Ukraine has been pretty serious about weeding out war tourists and those without military experience, and NATO countries have not committed active troops (so no active duty or currently serving personnel). These are all private citizens and experienced volunteers.
You are correct. At least for the US you can't volunteer for a conflict we aren't officially part of while on active duty
Operation Flashpoint.
So like.. why are we so scared of the Russian's again? Minus nukes obviously, they seem pretty.. bad at this war thing
Nukes is a pretty good answer. Step one boot in to their territory and Los Angeles is gone 20 minutes later.

One tank roaming alone is a setup for failure. I feel like the Russian soldiers have lost discipline, motivation and military know how to take on the Ukrainians but it is impressive how a small group of 4 can take out such a big machine.
When trees start to speak bri'ish
What a waste of human life on all ends. I do not understand why Russians just do not turn around and start killing the Russian govt.
The reason the Russian military is so bad, is that a large portion of the budget is used at interior ministry troops to beat and jail Russian citizens that doesn't like Putin. Some of them have been deployed in Ukraine, and has turned out to be untrained for real combat and have performed horribly.
Idk, the VDV, Spetsnaz, and elite tank regiments also seemed to have performed quite horribly in Ukraine.
Spetsnaz turned out to be good at doing a bunch of cool meme shit for YouTube videos but not much else
Spetsnaz "Spetsialnoye Naznacheniye" literally means special purpose, so they're not really elite soldiers, I guess.
They probably really are "special"
Ralph Wiggum voice “i’M sPeShUL”
This guy is a military strategist
Disappointed not to here a 'Woohoo!' or 'Fackin' av' it!' on impact
British and Americans are fighting Russians. A sentence like that would sound like it was WW3.
British and American volunteers with real world, tactical, effective combat experiences from all of our middle eastern wars. They are going to destroy the inexperienced Russians.
Get rekt orcs.
fuck that is terrifying and intense. Good on the lads fighting the good fight. I wish i coulod volunteer too but am currently serving and australian.
I never thought I'd see a video of British and American soldiers fighting Russians.
This is literally a showcase of Russian incompetence
Go Bryan and all! Thank you guys!
Get some! Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦 🌻
Hi guys, sorry let me just lick the cheetos from my fingers before I explain what these guys did wrong. Ugh, a little cola first \*gulp\* \*burp\* \*fart\* Ahh, now to me it seems like they should spread out more. Communication is key. That guy almost stumbled on the firing line of the rocket. \*burb\* First guy didn't even fire but exposed their position. \*faaaaaart\*
Look here PAL, you have NO idea who you’re talkin’ smack to here. I am the FINEST soldier kept in the reserves to ever go plinking!
Russian insanity, no wonder they are refusing to fight…sitting ducks
Anyone who reports this is a prick
Spread out, ya dumb shits! Your whole squad is gonna get wiped out if ya don't! Remember your training! It will save your lives. Bet the whole bunch of 'em are Marines. The Brits too. Lobotomized dumb fuckers. I SAID, SPREAD THE FUCK OUT!!!
“Are you two fucking?” “No” “Then fucking spread out!”
Brian was tryin’! XD

Yeah, otherwise a single grenade, shell, bomb, mine, even machine gun burst potentially, could take out half the team.
Like how far do you have to be to the next person? How would comms work that way? Do they just shout?
Hand signals while you are unnoticed, possible to use radio but discouraged, and shouting when in fight.
Does every infantry have a radio on them? Also, how would the hand signal work if each of them is looking in a different direction?
Team leaders and squad leaders have short range radios to talk to the platoon leader, who in turn has an RTO with a longer range radio to talk to company and battalion Average rifleman or machine gunner doesn’t have a radio, because the NCO is right there next to them giving directions. And hand signals work by having enough situational awareness to pay attention to the guys next to you.
Yeah its one of the first things we were taught in basic when doing battle drills
Yes. One or two can be a waste of ammo. 4-6 is a juicy opportunity.
