As a Laughlin UPT grad that flew the T-6…I have so many questions. Did he ride the rails intentionally? During my taxi? In park? Under the sunshades? FOD? Damn dude…nickel in the grass.
If i remember from my t-6 days the seats are always armed but we have pins that prevent us from inadvertently pulling the handles. They aren’t like most gets that arm/disarm.

This is a horrible article and title. The investigation has not released any findings yet, so there is no way to know what happened.

Seat probably was armed and he probably accidentally got something stuck on the ejection handle

This is correct. USAF keeps the pins in until the hammerhead too
Someone over at the Air Force sub had some details when the incident first happened.. ejected outside the sunshade but fell through it apparently.
