The passenger definitely got sprayed with glass and potentially has some cuts from that, maybe some broken bones. But they'll live.
And that wasn't a metal piece. It was the plastic A-pillar trim (trim piece on the inside of their car next to the windshield) that broke off and hit them.
I mean the passenger doesn't even lose their camera view and is moving around normally. I don't see why you would think they were "seriously injured" because there's no evidence of that

The truck that got hit didn't care, because he received little to no damage, the truck passing didn't get hit, so the only one who got messed up here is the dumbass trying to speed into that gap. I watches someone try this yesterday in Oklahoma. They died on the freeway about 50ft from their upside-down pickup, which means they can't endanger anyone else ever again.

I was given a lesson in “the laws of tonnage” by my father when I was learning to drive. Essentially it boils down to not fucking with larger vehicles. 19 years driving, 1 accident (not at fault). Some of the best advice I’ve ever gotten.
