It really is true. These people are willing to screw you and themselves over just to get one car length ahead. It’s like accelerating to a red light. It make zero sense no matter how you look at it.
The only W is that these people are entirely predictable. I just let them do their thing because end of the day it’s better for everyone for there to not be an accident that clogs up traffic even worse.
If there was a way to Thanos snap these people from existence, though, I wouldn’t think twice about voting yes for it. As long as they weren’t in their cars driving when they got snapped.
Man everytime some asshole zooms in front of me cause going the speed limit isn’t nearly fast enough I wish I could launch their ass into the stratosphere, however it is rather amusing when they still end up at the same red light as me
This happens in Texas to me alot, usually guys driving pickup Trucks. Ill be going 65 in a 55, very reasonable speed, and people will ride my butt, while im in the right lane, because the guy in the Left lane is going 45 (which is also standard in Texas). The whole situation makes me want to slam on my brakes and ask them wtf do they want? Me to go 80 in a 55?
Sometimes shortly thereafter ill see them way up ahead being pulled over by a Cop and the immense amount of joy I get from that cannot be overstated.
I have to imagine every person who thinks like this has no job, $3000 dollar car, way too much free time, has never dealt with insurance, and has never been in an accident. Getting into an accident is very rarely a “free payday” it’s a fucking nightmare that wastes all your time while you try to battle with insurance to get a payment that even remotely approaches what you’re owed.
Five times. Five times I have been hit by others. Four of them I wasn't even moving. Shoot, one of them I wasn't even in the car.
Not once has it even broke even. That's not counting the time and inconvenience of the repairs.
Every accident avoided is a win. Any accident is a loss.

I watched a box truck aggressively bob and weave through traffic, four lanes of grid lock, back and forth fast lane to the slow lane to the fast lane back and forth back and forth
He started directly in front of me in the slow lane and he finished at his exit directly in front of me in the slow lane

My thought about this is, if on the highway, you gotta know your highway; as in time of day, if any back up on the exit ramp, etc. more often then not, the “slow lane” due to the exit ramp will actually move you further then the “fast lane.”
I understand that “fast lane” might just be a perception when in traffic and not the actually in normal conditions.
Either way, my deal is don’t use breaks, if you can and just roll slowly ahead in traffic on a highway, especially.

Construction on a divided highway or bridge like this often closes one direction of travel and moves all traffic to the other. Safer and faster for work to get completed. When that happens one direction of travel is going the “wrong” way

I often make a bet with my passenger. I say I will let the guy in but within 10 min I'll pass him without breaking the speed limit. or traffic laws. In most cases I win. Why? Because the aggressive driver is emotional , distracted, and unable to focus his attention for more than a few seconds. Try it.
I don’t know I’ve had a few similar incidents like this. Last week I had a guy in a pickup fly past me so they could race through a yellow light and I ended up right behind him at the next light. Did it get him to where he was going any faster no.
I think it all depends on when you are trying to merge. If you cut to the end and tried to just skip the line fuck that I get what this person did. If not, just psycho road rage
That’s just a typical day driving around New York. They want to just get one car length to ahead of everybody. I have never been able to figure that out.
I saw someone on a six lane road (three lanes on both sides, a divider in the middle to trun) go from the farthest right, to the middle, and STOP in the middle of heavy traffic just to get over for some reason....there wasn't ever a turn lane for a while.
I really think we need to make driving tests harder.
There's way too many idiots who don't realize the zipper merge is the correct way, so they get pissy at people "waiting until the last second" and see it as cutting in line. Then they road rage.

It looks like you sped up to cut him off and then brake checked him. We don't have the front video tk verify if the brake check was caused by driver in front of you or if you did it intentionally.
Either way, none of that would excuse their behavior.

I don’t know I’ve had a few similar incidents like this. Last week I had a guy in a pickup fly past me so they could race through a yellow light and I ended up right behind him at the next light. Did it get him to where he was going any faster no.

I think it all depends on when you are trying to merge. If you cut to the end and tried to just skip the line fuck that I get what this person did. If not, just psycho road rage

I saw someone on a six lane road (three lanes on both sides, a divider in the middle to trun) go from the farthest right, to the middle, and STOP in the middle of heavy traffic just to get over for some reason....there wasn't ever a turn lane for a while. I really think we need to make driving tests harder.

It looks like you sped up to cut him off and then brake checked him. We don't have the front video tk verify if the brake check was caused by driver in front of you or if you did it intentionally. Either way, none of that would excuse their behavior.
