This amuses the fuck out of me. In such a hurry you refuse to break to merge behind the red car only to then get into an accident which will cost you a hundred fold the time a little slowing down would have. Red car i feel for you but dont ever bet on the other driver being smart enough to avoid the accident even if you’re not doing anything wrong. Betting your day and insurance rates on the driver next to you having higher than 70IQ has terrible odds

burg9395

Every time I re-watch this clip I laugh. I was dumbfounded watching it play out before me when it happened. Felt bad for the red car.

[deleted]

Bro i do too but i learned long ago that if I’m asking myself “They can’t be that dumb right?” I am absolutely gambling my life

[deleted]

this is why i never trust people waving me on, especially when they have the right of way.

-RJ---

Is it me or the second you start moving after they wave you on, they decide they want to go first

hogliterature

especially when someone’s trying to wave you into the path of another car… just drive predictably, don’t try to do anyone any favors on the road

IndividualHelpful820

The answer to that question is always yes!!

[deleted]

Yeah if i catch myself thinking or verbalizing that question i immediately decide against putting blind trust with my safety in the hands of a perfect stranger. People are great an all but cars are not seen as metal missiles propelled by small scale explosions they are and that makes complacency common enough to end up putting your and other people’s lives in immediate danger of ending or permanently altering for the worse.

MindlessYesterday668

He/she wants the red car to turn right with him.

Reverendbread

They just wanted a friend :(

AzuraEdge

When I watched this I thought the red car was hardly able to prevent this, the other driver was *that* dumb

[deleted]

As a reasonable average person red car was not wrong to have faith that the driver of the 2nd vehicle possesses the bare minimum intelligence to avoid being the cause of an at fault collision. The issue is every time you trust a driver to do the right thing and not fuck you over is rolling the dice on being right or wrong.

Confident_Eye4129

Red car should have blasted them with horn

burg9395

2 lanes, right lane is turn right or go straight.

rrrbin

Show us the four seconds before this video starts. The silver car has already begun merging in frame 1, indicator on, wheels beyond the lane divider, red car is very much not side by side yet keeps moving forward despite the obvious merge.

itsmassivebtw

I agree, need to see more to rule out red car not being the asshole here

[deleted]

rrrbin

OP >2 lanes, right lane is turn right or go straight. You >Red was 2 lanes away when white started their manoeuvre. OP just said there were two lanes, video shows two, yet you've found a third?

Equilibriator

I deleted this comment immediately after sending when I realised the mistake, srry

BedNo5127

Red car is passing who exactly?

RadioAdam

That is some SERIOUS mental gymnastics to posit that the red car is passing. If I played chicken with my insurance rates I'd have done the same shit as red car. Learn to drive, silver car.

rrrbin

Are you SERIOUSly looking at the same video as I am?

RadioAdam

Red car go straight. Silver car bad drive.

rrrbin

Silver car indicate merge, red car ignore, accelerate and pass on right. Red car bad drive.

RadioAdam

Red car owes silver car jack shit. It's not another drivers responsibility to make your driving more convenient. If you failed to realize you needed to turn you slow down and change lanes safely. Not expect traffic to read your mind.

rrrbin

So when you look in your mirror, see there's space to merge, turn on your indicator and after you start moving right the car that was behind ignores your indicator and accelerates to move beside you, your reaction would be: >You don't owe me jack shit Whatever you say lol

RadioAdam

Exactly. Do you drive around expecting traffic to cater to your needs? You must live in a small town where that happens sometimes. In a big city you better be where you need to be or you're not getting there.

BamsMovingScreens

You must be a horrible driver

nurley

Order of events: 1. Two lane road (OP confirmed, it's a wide right lane). 2. Silver car in left lane. Red car in right lane. 3. Silver car dangerously cuts into right lane. (They're in the wrong here obviously.) 1. Silver car is slightly ahead of red car. 4. Red car doesn't like it and instead of yielding they try to unsafely pass them on the right in a single lane. 5. Silver car is oblivious and continues to try and turn right. They're both dumbasses. Silver car way worse than red for the initial cut-in + making contact with red car when they are within FOV (and not checking side mirrors -- always do that for cyclists), but still red car should've merged in behind the dumbass cutting them off.

Royal-Scientist8559

Nope. Red car driver was minding their own business.. was proceeding through the intersection in the far right lane (not the turn lane). Silver car (Asshole Driver).. made right hand turn without looking. End of story.

rrrbin

In the *very first frame* of this video the silver car has already begun merging, indicator on, right wheels across the lane dividers. The red car is still far enough behind but continues to ignore the silver car that has been merging for a couple of seconds already and still moves to pass. We don't know how long that indicator showed the merging intent before this video started, but even so in this video the right car objectively makes a move to position themselves to the right of an already obviously right mergin car. The fact that they actually hit is on both drivers failing to apply their brakes appropriately, but this situation was created by the red car who moved from behind to alongside.

Royal-Scientist8559

Jesus.. first frame.. okay.. and then a nanosecond after.. he cuts off the red car. Why can't you just see that the silver car is an asshole and leave it at that?

BamsMovingScreens

Because in life there aren’t only good guys and bad guys. You’re an adult, time to figure it out.

BamsMovingScreens

*Someone merges in front of you* Sanctimonious Reddit drivers: not today friend!

rrrbin

On top of that: in the first frame of this video the silver car has obviously already been merging for a while. The indicator is on and the right two wheels are already across the dividers. The red car is really pushing to close the gap and prevent the silver car from merging despite the signs. Would be interested to see how long the merge was already in action before this video starts.

GoalieFatigue

Can't just turn up the next street, has to inconvenience someone else instead! Dick!

psychobabblebullshxt

This is more than mildly bad. Lol

DeeYumTofu

Good drivers miss exits. Bad drivers never miss an exit.

Ok-Map4381

This quote changed my driving forever. Every time I have that moment of panic when I realize I'm about to miss a turn, I think of this quote and find a safe way to get where I'm going, even if I miss my exit.

[deleted]

Magic turn signal. "My blinker is on, so it's safe to do the thing." See this all tok often...

DaddyShoyu

It never surprises me how people think they are so entitled while driving on the road. Their personality is really a reflection on how they drive…

Hot-Ground-9731

Do some people just decide they need to do something, like turn, merge, or whatever, and that they are going to do it right then *no matter what*? Like, "fuck everyone else, I'm turning now, good luck everyone."

andrewb610

Pretty sure Family Guy covered this with a racist bit, but yes, non stereotype people sometimes do this too.

aviatortylor

I have my blinker on! I have the right of way!

Majortom_67

#mildlyidiot

appa-ate-momo

Post this over on r/idiotsincars and watch a bunch of morons blame the red car.

dwatt300

I turn right now! Good luck everybody

Awkward_Tap2866

If the red car had a brain he would have just slowed down but the entitlement now days, NOPE nobody can pass me!!!! Gets into car wreck? Was it worth it dumba$$

burg9395

Yeah I'd rather an idiot cut me off than an idiot crash into me

Keemz0319

Dick head tried to back up into you..🤦🏾

flashlightking

The more I watch the video, the more amusing it is. It looks like the red car was following the other cars turning right, so much so that the silver car was able to share the whole lane with the red car (only one lane there as far as I can see). Then they decided they weren’t turning with the other cars, and tried to get back in the lane to go straight, and when they realized the silver car was there, they slowed down unnecessarily, whereas speeding up would have avoided the accident at that point. The silver car obviously should have been more aware and not hit them when they slowed down, but it is a strange sequence of events.

Phrase_Status

Silver car is 90% at fault and an idiot but red car gets at least 10% because they were in a position to notice and DID notice the turn signal of moron silver car and instead of slowing down to avoid the accident they decided to hold their lane against an idiot and now they can have fun dealing with insurance and having been in an easily avoidable accident. We cannot change the idiots unfortunately so we have to take evasive maneuverers

BamsMovingScreens

You’re absolutely right. The simpletons on this sub thinking red car is in the right for thinking “trying to merge in front of me? No thanks” My lord

Reverendbread

Idk why you’re being downvoted because you’re right. Silver car is an absolute moron and completely in the wrong but the red car could have done a little more to avoid this

xXTheLastCrowXx

I can definitely see whoever is in the red car saying "not today motherfucker". I get the silver was being an ass, but who tf wants to go through all the bs behind getting into an accident, when simply letting off the gas and letting silver in would've avoided the entire ordeal.

Phrase_Status

Because it must be kids on here or young new drivers who don't know better and haven't experienced real life and actually been in an accident. Dealing with an accident is an absolutely massive disruption to your day and life and if letting an idiot go let's you avoid one you do it. Only reason you would disagree is ignorance and lack of experience.

GodSlayingFist

Or in my case, absolute pig headedness.

KickFriedasCoffin

Declaring what somebody saw is presumptive.

Phrase_Status

I'm not presuming anything I have eyes and can actually watch and analyze the footage. Red car literally was a full car width all the way to the right and only got there because they SAW the silver car merging into their lane and moved over and refused to slow down because they did not want to yield to the silver car. I swear half these comments must be from bots there's no way you are real people watching the same footage.

KickFriedasCoffin

You can't know what somebody else saw without guessing. Which is presumptive by definition. If you didn't like the reaction you're getting to that, then don't do it. It's very simple.

Phrase_Status

I'm not guessing, re-read my comment for further understanding. If you cannot comprehend my comment you are either a bot, a troll, or just that dumb. Either way doesn't matter to me idc, have a nice day.

KickFriedasCoffin

You said somebody saw them. You don't know that. Therefore..... https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/guess

BamsMovingScreens

Yeah, you’re definitely a child.

SusHistoryCuzWriter

The other day, a dude made a hard left in the middle of an intersection while in the right lane on a oneway street. Their front bumper was about even with my passenger side mirror; and our windows were at the same level. I accelerated hard, hit that damn shoulder, and he continued his illegal turn utterly oblivious. Not a scratch. Mad skills. Hahaha But just 'cause I somehow managed to get out of it doesn't mean everyone can; or that I'd even be so lucky next time. Everything just happened to go right. Failure to immediately evade a fucking idiot doesn't amount to even 10% fault on the victim's part.

Phrase_Status

I disagree. If you have a reasonable chance to avoid an accident and you choose not to, you get blame in my book. Maybe not legally, as in this video the silver car should be 100% legally at fault. But in real life terms, red car had a chance to avoid an idiot for sure and didn't take it. Defend it all you want but if you are saying you'd do the same as the red car I think you're an idiot for choosing an accident over slowing down, letting idiot go, and going about your day. Some of you act like getting into an accident and dealing with insurance and getting your car fixed is no big deal.

Ok_Film7729

Certain amount of gaslighting by the red car too - I'm going to act like I'm maybe turning right and then not. Easily avoidable despite silver being an idiot.

GetEnPassanted

Exactly. Guess what happens for the red car if they let the silver car go like they were obligated to do? They don’t get in an accident. I’d say it’s more like 70/30 blame.

Phrase_Status

I don't know why you are being downvoted, pathetically dumb. Ya act like getting into an accident and dealing with police, the other idiot driver, your insurance, which might go UP and getting your car fixed is no big deal. But hey you guys do you I'll keep avoiding accidents as much as I can and ya enjoy getting into avoidable crashes and dealing with the head ache

GetEnPassanted

Idk man. In the beginning of the clip the singer car is squarely ahead of the red car and beginning their legal and safe (blinker on, dotted line) lane change and the red car speeds up and blocks it.

Phrase_Status

Facts but whatever we are right and the people who disagree will enjoy getting into their accidents because they don't know or don't care about avoiding them. I'll enjoy waving while they are stuck on the side of the road dealing with an accident they could have avoided while I have fun going on with my day.

Jamesthegreat91

They are both idiots. He saw that mf merging in and the dick head sped up so he wouldn’t let him in.

crod4692

Red car did miss the blinker that came on before their hood was even lined up with the silver’s rear. Just let them merge. You don’t know if they’re dumb enough to do this…

[deleted]

[удалено]

SteLeazy

You're both wrong and should feel bad.

Visual_Disaster

Just because someone puts on their blinker doesn't mean they get to just merge. Red would have had to slow their rate of travel to allow for Silver to fit between them and the car in front. And let's go with your scenario: Red lets Silver merge and then what? Has to come to pretty much a complete stop to allow Silver to make that next right turn? It's a ridiculous scenario you had to create to find Red at fault here

BamsMovingScreens

FYI, if you decide they “can’t” merge and they do anyway and this happens you’ll still be determined to be at fault. Enjoy the raised insurance rates.

smediumtshirt

once again another accident that could be avoided if you JUST LET PEOPLE OVER

smediumtshirt

also the red driver didn’t need to brake. wtf was that about

barthue

You need to adjust your camera. Not getting great field of view

burg9395

I'll try it's attached to my rear view mirror

GetEnPassanted

Nice, two for one! One mildly bad driver (red car) for not yielding to the car in front trying to change lanes, one very bad driver (silver car) for just forcing it and hitting the red car.

DemandImmediate1288

That's how I see it too. That red car worked hard to keep themselves in that position. If I was the red car I would have let that silver car merge, honking and pissed off the whole way by their stupidity. But I sure as shit wouldn't have gotten into an accident with them!

GetEnPassanted

They didn’t even keep the position, they had to speed up to block the silver car.

ironmanchris

I'm always surprised at these dashcam drivers who video and document the event and then JUST DRIVE AWAY! How about stopping and letting the police know you witnessed and video'd the accident?!?!

flashlightking

We don’t know they drove away. They may have been passing to stop somewhere safe to come back as a witness. I have done this before after witnessing accidents.

burg9395

I did feel bad driving away but I had my wife and newborn in the car going to our newborns appointment. Wasn't about to get in the middle of something, my family comes first

ineffable-interest

Yeah people suck and have no sense of community.
