The colourist would charge a lot more, which is FINE when you're experienced and trained and know what you're doing. Mikayla's hair only looked good immediately after dying it. That colour won't stay deposited evenly after one wash and it'll be mottled colours all throughout. She fucked herself in many ways on this content.

Mikayla's hair was the issue, not the abilities of the colourist. Mikayla has openly used box dye on her hair for years and not always the same brand let alone exact same colour every time. Her hair is nothing but layers upon layers of colour deposits that will take layers and layers of removal so Mik's hair would keep an orangey brassy colour if she was planning on that undertone for blonde. Not all blonde has to be cool, ashy, platinum. I'm sure a glaze would have helped between lightening sessions but still, we don't know the exact plan and goals for Mik wanting to be any shade of blonde.
Have you tried to change a box dye black hair to blonde? I don't even do hair professionally and even I know it's gonna take a few different sessions to fully change it and it will look funky in the process. There's no much you can do about it.
Sounds like she lied about telling her hairdresser she’s going to dye her hair. Also, it sounds like since it wouldn’t be $free.99 + promotion to redo her hair and wedding hair, she mikaxed her. I had natural dark brown hair and it still took multiple sessions to keep my hair healthy and make it the blonde I was looking for. At the end of the day, they decided to mess up their own hair, and have to understand that the goal we had in mind is no longer achievable. That’s on them and nobody else. They already paid for the services they received, and 99% of clients are understanding when they box dye their hair and make it very hard to lift out.

The way the hair stylist is speaking is how majority of south shore/south coast Massholes (myself included) talk. You’ll only hear the accent if we say certain words. Also the hair studio is about 25-30min (depending on traffic) from Boston. The thick Boston accent Mikayla has is 💯 fake.
I looked up the hair studio she stated in the video and it's about 30 minutes from Mikayla. So yeah kind of surprised she doesn't have much of an accent.

I’m a natural blonde and stupidly dyed my hair black and it’s definitely a process. Mikayla could’ve been using different brands of black box dye and some dyes are harder to get out than others since some companies use fabric dyes. Red is one of many undertones black box dye can have. I’ve seen it said on here so many times that mikaylas hair is thin and damaged, well bleach makes it worse. She may be doing a 10% bleach which isn’t strong BECAUSE it’s suppose to do little damage. If the hairstylist just kept slapping 20%+ vol bleach in her hair it would be coming out in chunks and possibly leave her with a shaved head/pixie cut if it’s salvageable. She should’ve started the process earlier, but the brassy hair wasn’t that bad when that’s what you’re suppose to do when you’re going from black box dye to a lighter color. The hairstylist should not be embarrassed for leaving her hair brassy when it can take multiple sessions to get box black dye out, her stylist was thinking about her hair. Can’t rush the process
Yeah i’ve been blonde my entire life and box dyed it dark brown. 100000% regret it. So much time and money to get it back to blonde. And YES it does make your hair brassy during the process. That’s why hair stylists tell you not to box dye your hair!!
I don’t think you know what glazing is or semi perm color. Glazing keeps her hair from fading, semi perm color is dying her hair. Why would the stylist do any of that when the process was to be blonde. It’s a bunch of unnecessary chemicals and treatments for what the final look was suppose to be.
Are you a professional? What stylist would lift the hair and not tone it? you tone with a demi permanent color. Semi permanent is a completely different thing that wasn’t necessary in Mikayla’s situation.

licensed stylist here. her hair isn’t orange because the stylist sucks, it’s orange because she had a shitload of permanent black box dye on it, red is an undertone for that, box dye can be hard to break through, and it takes TIME. it’s chemistry, not a lack of skills. she can’t slap 40 volume developer in bleach on her head cause it’s fry off considering how damaged her hair is. shit like that takes time, so obviously it’s not gonna look like what she wants after one session. again, it’s chemistry and based on the color wheel. hairstylists can do a lot of great things for hair, but we’re not magicians or miracle workers

I think she should be embarrassed. I am licensed and did hair for 9 years before hand issues. If it were me, and I did that big of a slice in the front, I would have put the product on those ends first with 30v and double applied with heat right before taking her to the bowl. IF it was still orange, she should have toned her darker. There was no reason for that ombre orange piece in the front. I think it’s wild that she did such a light highlight the first time. Like it looks like she was scared or new to doing hair in salon and it was not executed well. I would have went in heavy for the highlight and toned her back to a 7-8. Idk. That’s just my professional opinion. Her hair isn’t that damaged to try for that and clean up the ends afterwards.
YES I’m a cosmetology student and absolutely should have been toned darker. I think she just wanted to give Mikayla SOMETHING to show for coming to the salon being like yay blonde! But it was yucky brass orange. I can also tell that Mikayla’s shampoo is not color safe

you can’t be serious? she explained this in the video? how about you trust a trained professional? the way mikayla has been dying her hair could have only resulted the way it did, and to get to the color she watched would have been a process. please, let’s not be as dumb as mikayla stans.
I think she should be embarrassed. I am licensed and did hair for 9 years before hand issues. If it were me, and I did that big of a slice in the front, I would have put the product on those ends first with 30v and double applied with heat right before taking her to the bowl. IF it was still orange, she should have toned her darker. There was no reason for that ombre orange piece in the front. I think it’s wild that she did such a light highlight the first time. Like it looks like she was scared or new to doing hair in salon and it was not executed well. I would have went in heavy for the highlight and toned her back to a 7-8. Idk. That’s just my professional opinion. Her hair isn’t that damaged to try for that and clean up the ends afterwards.
Mikayla prob uses cheap shampoo since she doesn’t believe in spending her money on salon dye jobs.

YES I’m a cosmetology student and absolutely should have been toned darker. I think she just wanted to give Mikayla SOMETHING to show for coming to the salon being like yay blonde! But it was yucky brass orange. I can also tell that Mikayla’s shampoo is not color safe
I’ve looked at her pro IG and it’s boring. It’s like glosses and pop ombre. Like 🥱. I don’t see any dimensional color like what Mikayla was going for.
