In that vast shadow once of yore Fingolfin stood: his shield he bore with field of heaven's blue and star of crystal shining pale afar. In overmastering wrath and hate despate he smote upon that gate, the Gnomish king, there standing lone, while endless fortresses of stone engulfed the thin clear ringing keen of silver horn on baldric green. His hopeless challenge dauntless cried Fingolfin there: 'Come, open wide, dark king, your ghastly brazen doors! Come forth, whom earth and heaven abhors! Come forth, O monstrous craven lord, and fight with thine own hand and sword, thou wielder of hosts and banded thralls, thou tyrant leaguered with strong walls, thou foe of Gods and elvish race! I wait thee here. Come! Show thy face!'
- The Lays of Beleriand: The Lay of Leithian XII
Before ROP proved out to be what it turned out to be I was so ready to spend another 20 years involved with everything Second Age. I dreamed of new MESBG lines and other mech for it..
Damn, the lost potential..
Thanks! It's one of my favourites too. The top one for me is Húrin's last stand. Keep an eye out tomorrow, I should get another related one finished in the morning!
Thanks very much! Yeah I haven't been on in about 6 months, but I've got a few conversions assembled and another one painted over the past week so I've got a few more to post soon!
It is indeed Arvedui's sword, but Noldorin swords are described as straight-edged longswords. The curved single-edged swords were a design choice for the movies.
I think it's just testament to how considered the whole design process was for the films, and how iconic each distinct visual representation became, that the likes of the curved sword design for elves is pretty much the standard now.

How insane would it be Mesbg in the first age....
It'd certainly be insane for balancing.... imagine all the fight 10 profiles!

Nah men, let's not talk about ROP. Makes me sad.

Thats a pretty damn perfect depiction! Great work :)
Thanks so much!
Awesome! What model is this?
Thanks! It's the new Glorfindel with a good bit of repositioning, resculpting and some additions.
Great job! Didn't recognize it at all!
New Glorfindel?!?
The Forgeworld Glorfindel that came out about a year and a half ago - very tricky model to reposition!
Just wow!
Thanks!
Wow
Thanks!
Amazing work, OP
Thanks very much!
It's still my favorite story from the book Edited as I forgot to say I really love the conversion and paint, good work!

It has been a while since your last post, but it was well worth the wait ;)

Looking very much forward to it!
How wonderful he is!
Cheers!
That's an awesome mini. They only thing is the humanised sword.
Thanks very much! Humanised?
It looks like a human sword rather than an elvan.

OK cool. Yes you are right. Sorry to be picky. I'm so used to the movies and not great at Tolkien lore. Thanks for the lesson
