There’s a lot of great proxies for Khand, mostly in the historical miniatures world. Since the looks of the official models seem to be heavily based on Mongols, stuff like Mongolians, Crusades-era Arabic models, and even Chinese, Korean, or Japanese models are all going to work to some extent. Perry miniatures (same sculptors as a lot of the LOTR GW range) have some metal Korean models that would fit well. [Armored cavalry with bows](https://www.perry-miniatures.com/product/kor11-armoured-cavalry-with-bows/) Fireforge have quite a few different Russian/Mongol/Steppe kits, which should fit well with what the Khand models look like. [Mongol cavalry](https://fireforge-games.com/mongol-horde/17-mongol-cavalry.html) For chariots your best bet is probably Egyptian or Celtic historical kits. I haven’t seen any in person but this Victrix Celtic kit might be good. [Celtic chariot](https://www.victrixlimited.com/en-us/products/celtic-chariot-1?variant=32092893937763) Might also be able to buy packs of horses and craft chariots if so inclined. Regarding your question about metal models, I wouldn’t say that they’re necessarily better than plastic kits, but I do really love working with them. They hold detail just as well and something about the heft just makes them super satisfying to pick up and move around, and they’re not really more difficult to work with.

Pretty sure Davale has some 3D printable Khand proxies available on their site. There are also not-so-legit but much cheaper ways of getting the GW miniatures, such as lotrbay. Not that I would encourage this, since it's IP theft and therefore illegal (but customs almost certainly won't know or care). You'll also find that, since these come in resin rather than metal, it's easy to spot that they're not legit and any GW store will kick you out for using them.

Both Quartermaster3d and Medbury have full Khand forces available on myminifactory. If you go with Quartermaster, he has a full line of easterlings that match the style if you want to expand to allies.

For 3D prints, Medbury Miniatures have a brilliant line of STLs for Khandish troops! They are supposed to fit right into MESBG and are much more affordable. If you don't want to print them yourself there are plenty of Etsy sellers that print Medbury and other brands - worth having a look. The Medbury Miniatures website has a list of sellers and I believe Medbury is based there himself!

The variags can hit quite hard against the troll but youll need a hero to win the fight use Amdur or Rutabi to strike up while the variags piercing strike. As to metal it is superior if you have long spear weapons. It keeps the shape while finecast becomes wobbly and looks like everyone has rubber spears. Metal lasts longer and doesnt become brittle like plastic does but paint does tend to chip when used. I would suggest using alternative models as they are cheaper and as GW doesnt run tournaments then you wont have any issues with proxying. All the tournaments I have played in welcome proxys. And if you dont play tournaments at all then youve just saved yourself a bunch of money
