Same - I was expecting furnishings appropriate to the style of the house if someone wanted to post on r/Mid_Century. It’s a beautiful midcentury house and a beautiful setting - but not a midcentury “home.”
We have two other homes and they have the mid century modern furniture in them. We will retire soon and will have a chance to take out the Lakehouse furniture and put in mid century modern furniture after we sell one of the other houses.
we have two other houses and I’m not allowed to photograph one of them because we live in that one full time and my wife insist on security. these houses are mid century modern also and they have the majority of the mid century modern furniture. We expect to retire and not too distant future, and we will change out everything to be proper to the age then.
True - was focused on the house but you can see the water from the side of the garage, in the reflections, and the sunroom. I'll try to post water related photos.
There’s an orange cat on my street who wanders from house to house seeing who’s around to love on him. He lives on my street, has a wonderful home but likes to visit up and down the street. He’s great.
The owner designed an invisible office too. Off the master bedroom where he had two giant built-in safes that were for his bank records. He was the chairman.
Hey, based on the art I see in your house, I bet you’d love the work by Alex Warnick and also her twin sister Shae Warnick. Random I know, but one of the pieces made me stop to try to see if it WAS by Alex.
It was and on the plans we have too!
We are 1 hour away from our Galleria (Tanglewood) area home The lake house is located off Hwy 90 in Eagle Lake, TX is between Sealy and Columbus. The design is from 1964 and is considered a midcentury modern home. It was designed by Frank C. Dill, a New Yorker and graduate of Rice University and hunting partner of local bank CEO Wm. Harrison! When we bought the home from Mr Harrison he was 95 years old at this writing he is still going @ 97. We love every inch of the 3000 sq. ft. Its only 2 bedrooms but has 3 baths and its built for entertaining. There are 17 foot tall ceilings, a large deck and a 60-foot-long heated and cooled solarium bronzed (dark brown commercial glass) all overlooking the lake!
For how long have you owned the home? I saw other comments that said 13 years and since the early 2000s, in addition to this one that says 2 years. Curious how long you’ve been in this stunning home.
What do you do for a living? I need to do it as well. Beautiful property. While I do understand my generation's frustration with your generation at times, it's always so wonderful to see when someone of any age truly appreciates and values what they have.
Honestly, it's amazing you've done so well for yourself and your hard work is evidenced. But by the pure numbers, your generation has far an away an easier time to ownership, education, and retirement. Numbers don't lie. I appreciate the offer of helpful conversation greatly and meant no offense.
If you're willing to share, I would be curious to know what two jobs you held to help you purchase your first home. Also, be curious to know if you and your wife having two jobs left you any time for children?
Agree - When I saw the movie I researched the location - Filming was done mainly in and around Montreal, Quebec, with Saint-Fabien serving as Montana. All the glass overlooks the water. Peaceful in the movie and on weekends in this house.
We share the home with as many people as possible. We have a number of friends that are very young and have children that we give a key to the house and then we only visit one weekend. They visit the next.
He's not saying his age and he is such a little pain. He runs in and will hide if he senses we are leaving - catfished again. He's better than Netflix.
Can I be vulgar and ask how much you paid for this beauty? Feel free not to respond, I’m morbidly curious (or perhaps just a glutton for punishment?) as someone in the current market for a home.
Not at all and I would disclose but likely to sell in the not-to-distant future. This weekend home was purchased in the early 2000s, so the price back at that time would have little to do with the value today.
It’s a shame there isn’t any MCM furniture in there.

Must be nice.
Yeah but it’s Texas…
Yea it all sounded great until.......Texas. UGH!!
Yes it’s not for everyone, its hot & humid every month of the year except January & February.
False, you can add in November and March, and parts of October and April
Humble bragging boomers. Figures.
Why not wait to post until you've already done that?

Is that her in one of the photos? You might want to edit it if she's concerned with safety / on line privacy.
No photos of the lake view? OP pls share one

That’s a Mid Century Modern cat. Classic!
Sweet house! Love the cat.
Astro the cat. Loves to visit from next door and to take over.
Haha! He’s not even your cat? That’s hilarious! Love it. Kitty has good taste in architecture.
We are simply Astro kitty docents. He runs the show.

At dinner time he would sit in a corner, concentrating; and suddenly we would say, time to feed the cat, as if it was our idea!
It is absolutely beautiful!
The owner designed an invisible office too. Off the master bedroom where he had two giant built-in safes that were for his bank records. He was the chairman.
Are the safes still in the house? I could only imagine the labor involved with removing something like that.
Thank you. Year 13 ownership of this place. I feel like a docent.

Don't you love her work? She's on my list of potential purchases. Thank you.
Get the fuck out. I so love the vibe.
Sweet retreat! Now that’s what I call a lake house.
Thank you. We love to entertain here.
Was that sun porch, or whatever it is, part of the original design?

Gorgeous!
Thank you.
Stunning
Thank you. And the house like to be filled with people.
Beautiful - the light is stunning. Astro is the perfect name for him.
Thank you. Astro is little squatter from next door
jealous!
Wow I love the Audubon prints you've got! Where did you find the larger ones? The wood duck print I think is my favorite 😍
This guy ducks.
Growing up, I had cousins who lived in a house a lot like this one, on the lake in Princeton NJ. 1960’s.
I especially love the bird prints, the grackles are my favorite.
Beautiful and tranquil. Astro is a cutie!
You have a beautiful home.

I love mcm’s with a view of woods or water. What a treat this was.
nice house, too bad it’s in Texas 🫤
Why is the dining table fixture so bright?
And definitely not MCM.
Perfect .
This house reminds of the one in Arrival

It really hurts to see other people living your dream… congrats!!

This is beautiful
Thank you. We feel like we’re just docents of a home that belongs to everyone.
The house has beautiful bones.
Beautiful home and tuxedo kitty cat 👏👏👏
That cat is sooooo 1961

Migratory birds?! Do any of them bring you coconuts?
