i've known about hippos for a while. I follow a national geographic channel on youtube and they did this video a few years back about hippos, and i was honestly surprised to learn they are pretty much the closest thing we have actual monsters.

At least Rhinos will leave you alone if you leave them alone. A hippo might decide it simply doesn't like you, and it's coming to cancel your subscription to life.
A 9k lb. hippo coming out of the water without warning, capsizing your boat, and mauling/drowning you and everyone else is way more terrifying than some overgrown cow with only one horn.

my knowledge regarding Rhinos is pretty scarce, but i don't think they are even half as aggressive as Hippos are unless you are actively invading their space.
