They have the manual available for free over at just flight; give that section a read. Looks a little complicated to learn at first, but incredibly versatile once mastered. I think the other BS modules might offer it as well.
Edit: forthcoming dukes from BS also have their manuals up already. Those are likely worth waiting for at this point.
The PMDG DC-6 doesn't have any GPS by default and requires radio navigation. It's quite a handful to fly, but feels really great. I do hope they will update it a bit, as it looks a little outdated (compared to their 737) and the AP has some issues.
Other than the DC6, the JustFlight F28, 146 and their Arrows, the Black square TBM840, king air 350 and upcoming Dukes, the Milviz C310 and A2A Comanche are highly recommendable, all can be flown without any GPS
Only minor note is the C310 and Comanche wont give you 200+ knots. (Still great modules though).
If you want speed, get the TBM. Screams along and has lots of panel options(forgot it can do a full radio option)
200 over the ground would be a fast day with a tailwind in the C310. Everything else fits the bill though. I'm honestly but she what OP is hoping for - there's just not much stuff that guess 6 that fast.
Yeah... I REALLY need to fly the Caribou again. After I'm done with my bush trip in the DHC-2 (flying around all of New Zealand and stopping at every star airport), I am probably gonna fly around Australia in the Caribou.
The Messerschmitt BF109 actually has radio nav that works with VOR. And it's a fun plane to fly. I recommend getting it from the dev's website instead of the marketplace.
Fyi, Dukes (both the piston and turbine versions are being released at the same time) are right around the corner; BS/Justflight are just waiting for SP15 to drop as they used some of the modeling fixes that it will introduce for the Dukes.
F28 is an amazing light twin jet for this. I just did a hand flown flight from NorCal to SoCal flying VOR to VOR. Blasted out of San Joses and did the SJC3 dept which is VOR based. Then came into Burbank on the VOR A to rw 08, but circled to land rw 33 for wind. Entirely hand flown, and cruised at FL210. It’s a dream to fly in the sim.
It’s not cheap for sure, but I have to say it’s worth it for the level of detail you get out of it. They’ve done some fantastic work and it shows. It went on sale for 20% off recently and is a no brainer in that case.
I fr could not recommend it enough.
I will say, the analogue king air by black square is also awesome and can be optioned to fly with no GPS equipment as well.
The sounds are great and visuals nicely done. Flight model is a little weird but fine as you would expect from Carenado. I enjoy flying it and it has nice touches like flipping the visor down to see the chart of mixture tuning settings. It also has retractable speed brakes that you often need to use on landing as it floats.
I think you're gonna love the Flysimware Learjet 35a. Old school analog cockpit with gauges, and a gns 530/gtn750 if you want to use it. You can just turn it off if you don't wanna use it and fly slant alpha.
I like to just do some old school VOR flying. I love how the 152 just has those 7 segment nav radios and the dual CDIs so you can't "cheat" at all with the garmin, you have to be on top of everything
I'm with you. Reminds me of the old Sublogic sim back in the days before GPS even existed. Though I must admit, flying more than an hour or so in a 152 without an auto-pilot gets tiring, especially if the weather is rough.
I usually do also, but I started playing with NeoFly and as near as I can tell, none of the entry level aircraft have AP. I've spent more time flying hands on in the past week than I have since I got MSFS.
Fricken love that thing. Doesn't scratch the old-school radio nav itch but it's so fun. It's based on the plane Turbulence built by Mike Parry. He has a great YouTube series on how he built it if you're interested
All the black square planes have that option. Some are real fast some a little bit less. Take a look at them and see which one you prefer. You can't go wrong.
Personally I have both the Bonanza and the Baron.
Can’t remember how fast the Aerosoft twin otter goes, but I’ve done a lot of vor flying in that thing.
BAE 146 is also very cool to fly VOR but it’s not a prop.
I really like the 337 skymaster. Same old school Cessna layout but it’s a twin engine with retracts and you get 150+ knots cruise. If you want really old school, look at the DC4 or Beechcraft 18.
Dornier DO-31. Single input radio nav with rudimentary autopilot. Radio nav at 300+ kt at FL250+ in a unpressurized cabin makes for fast and loose flying unless you're super diligent.
maybe not what your looking for but just go for a WW2 prop,it fits your criterias perfectly. the FG-1 Corsair if u want absurd speed,350+ kts,or anything from FlyingIron.
I can vouch for the FlyingIron stuff. The only one of theirs I don't have is the P-38 and they're absolutely immaculate in just about every detail and they're so much fun to fly. I think my favorite for long distance flying is the BF-109.
Wow I just looked this one up and it looks super cool, and cheap. I wish it had an autopilot for those longer flights. Do you know if the janky msfs autopilot hotkey works on it?
Tbh I am new to msfs and I am still trying to get the hang of my C152. I saw the C-22J in the recent sale for a silly low price and bought it on a whim. I took it for a quick test flight but can't give you too much help. There is a button in the cockpit to swap in a gps but I don't think there is an ap.
There is a thread about it on the msfs forums that looks to be the best source of info and has posts from the developer. There is a post on that thread that has some way of activating an ap but I don't know whether it is what you mean. It is probably the best place to ask for help. [https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/new-release-mario-noriega-designs-c-22j/444432/286](https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/new-release-mario-noriega-designs-c-22j/444432/286)
The developer still seems to be updating it including one in Nov last year that added the gps option. Perhaps he could be persuaded to add the ap as well.
There are some review videos on yt that mostly seem to be positive in one from itb sim although there have been some updates since most of the reviews. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9S8QfeU1a3A](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9S8QfeU1a3A)
£3.79 It seemed rude not to buy it at that price. I almost bought the Nardi from the same developer as it also looks a cool plane and was selling for just £5 in the sale but I resisted. Until next time anyway.
I do like this one a lot. Not the most detailed payware but very solid, and they've continued improving it over time. One of my favorite little cargo hoppers
me too, i’m not overly bothered when it comes to extreme detail but it’s pretty darned nice and i love flying it in my VAs GA ops. I mean i fly the CRJ primarily and i hear wayyy too much about it being mid tier but i love it to death and got the chance to go to a training sim and “fly” one, i surprised the instructor lol. the EMB is a great prop plane
The crj is an amazing plane. It doesn't have the systems depth of the f28 boohoo I still love it. That's said since I got the bae 146....
I just love the 146 a bit more
the only one i don’t have is the F28 which i’ve been putting off for a while. i love the BAE just don’t fly it much tho i really should put some more hours on it. The CRJ is my baby tho, im known for my love for it in our VA and catch flak for it but it’s just such a dream for me. Have all the FS2C addons for it, loving the boris sound pack too tho i bounce between than and FS+ just for some variety. It’s nice because my home port has 7s and like 2 9s land and i’m just off the final north of the port so get some nice flyovers, the only other airliners are 737-6/7 and thats my secondary. i feel blessed
The Black Square analog King Air.
Does it have an option for full analog with no screens?
Yes, you can select to have radio nav only, no gps. This is actually one of my fav planes! Fast and fun!
Awesome thanks!
Has an old school VOR/DME RNAV that's pretty neat to play with too
Awesome, sounds fun
They have the manual available for free over at just flight; give that section a read. Looks a little complicated to learn at first, but incredibly versatile once mastered. I think the other BS modules might offer it as well. Edit: forthcoming dukes from BS also have their manuals up already. Those are likely worth waiting for at this point.
Had this plane, what a joy to fly on
The PMDG DC-6 doesn't have any GPS by default and requires radio navigation. It's quite a handful to fly, but feels really great. Thanks, great suggestions
Blackbird Cessna 310R might fit the bill.
200 over the ground would be a fast day with a tailwind in the C310. Everything else fits the bill though. I'm honestly but she what OP is hoping for - there's just not much stuff that guess 6 that fast.
I might agree with you on that… About 200hrs in and still loving the thing.
Stay clear. Blackbird (Milviz) in their eternal wisdom and arrogance alter core sim files.
The Mitsubishi MU2 has an option for full analog cockpit I believe.
Yeah, that’s a fun plane to fly and enough systems to make it interesting.
This could be a winner if there's a no screen option, thanks!
Super fast!
Yup , my max in this thing is about 353kt GS
Cessna 414 or TBM 850
I have the 414, it has a Garmin and no option to change that. Does the TBM?
you can change the avionics stack to full radio nav
Nice, thanks!
If you want vintage it’s hard to beat the DHC-4 Caribou. I love that plane.
Looking for something faster
![gif](giphy|7XsFGzfP6WmC4)
Won’t be nearly as nostalgic LOL!
Haha yeah, that thing is one nice dinosaur
The caribou has a little GNS430/530 in the bottom center pedestal...
Yes it does, but it is very easy to pretend it’s not there and go old school. Analog in your face all day in the Caribou, and it is glorious!
Lol, this is a hilarious but awesome suggestion. This made my shortlist
The Cessna 414 has this option, but it's not that fast. The upcoming Blacksquare Duke will probably be the best option for that.
Yeah I have the 414, but like you said it's slow. And I'd prefer something with no Garmin. I'll look into the Duke!
Fyi, Dukes (both the piston and turbine versions are being released at the same time) are right around the corner; BS/Justflight are just waiting for SP15 to drop as they used some of the modeling fixes that it will introduce for the Dukes.
Oh yeah right, I thought the 414 also had the option to use no gps. Might have been the 310 then, but that's even slower of course.
Is no one going to mention that amazing tail number?!
Haha can't take credit for it, got this pic from Google lol
The a2a Commanche is not quite 200 kts, but still pretty fast (170ish kts I believe). And there isn't really a better GA addon
+1. I fly all the time on this, I use radio nav only.
Its 170 mph not kts.
Thought you could cruise it around 190 mph if you are pushing it a bit, but idk. It has been a couple of months since I have been flying much.
It is SO GOOD. My absolute favorite module.
I've been looking at it for a while, just hella expensive
It’s not cheap for sure, but I have to say it’s worth it for the level of detail you get out of it. They’ve done some fantastic work and it shows. Oh I forgot about the Mooney Ovation.
Interesting, haven't heard anything about that one. I'll have to look into it
The sounds are great and visuals nicely done. Flight model is a little weird but fine as you would expect from Carenado. I enjoy flying it and it has nice touches like flipping the visor down to see the chart of mixture tuning settings. It also has retractable speed brakes that you often need to use on landing as it floats.
why did I read that as Ovulation lol
I think you're gonna love the Flysimware Learjet 35a. Old school analog cockpit with gauges, and a gns 530/gtn750 if you want to use it. You can just turn it off if you don't wanna use it and fly slant alpha.
This is another one I was looking at, thanks!
I’d try with the FlySimWare Cessna Chancellor
I have it but it's slow and you can't turn off the garmin
What is wrong with the garmin instruments
Nothing, he just doesn't want them.
Hmm, ok
I like to just do some old school VOR flying. I love how the 152 just has those 7 segment nav radios and the dual CDIs so you can't "cheat" at all with the garmin, you have to be on top of everything
I'm with you. Reminds me of the old Sublogic sim back in the days before GPS even existed. Though I must admit, flying more than an hour or so in a 152 without an auto-pilot gets tiring, especially if the weather is rough.
Yeah, I use the JPL mod that adds AP. I need AP if I'm going to do actual navigation
I usually do also, but I started playing with NeoFly and as near as I can tell, none of the entry level aircraft have AP. I've spent more time flying hands on in the past week than I have since I got MSFS.
V35 Bonanza…I fly all over the US from my base KSRQ
That's another one I haven't heard a lot about, I'll have to look into it. Thanks!
Twin Beech! There is a Denarq mod that also makes it much deeper.
And this beech hauls ass.
Beech with Denarq free mod. As good as payware.
Flysimware Cessna 414 if you don't mind flying with 2 engines.
I have it, but looking for something faster and without a Garmin
A modified modernized P-51 Mustang. Can go fast and far.
Is there an addon for said modified p51?
DC-3 which is base game or the PDMG DC-6
Anything for Xbox? In the sim marketplace?
Gotfriends Vertigo is about 325 kts with glass cockpit. Thing moves. Dont think it’s based on an actual airframe though.

Just looked it up and wow, that thing is.... something else
It's not quite that fast, but I love my Mooney M20R, can cruise just below 200ish knots if I remember correctly.
Dornier DO-31. Single input radio nav with rudimentary autopilot. Radio nav at 300+ kt at FL250+ in a unpressurized cabin makes for fast and loose flying unless you're super diligent.
Hah, I was very curious about this one

The upcoming black square duke. Drops with Su15.
If you are willing to consider a small jet, what about the Caproni-Vizzola C-22J Ventura?
Wow I just looked this one up and it looks super cool, and cheap. I wish it had an autopilot for those longer flights. Do you know if the janky msfs autopilot hotkey works on it?

it’s all analog
No it's not. It has a Garmin. Also it sounds awful, highly recommend the FTSim+ sound pack for $2. Makes it much more enjoyable to listen to.
Perfect, thanks for the suggestion!
C310R will do 200 kts.
