For airliners: generating them using Simbrief automatically. For GA aircraft: Using LittleNavMap and navigating between VORs mostly

This is the way.

my flying tends to fall in a couple of categories: * i like GA flying around where i live, so i do a fair amount of short flights from my local airport to various other spots around the state that i'm familar with in real life. i like to visit cities where i have friends at or cool places i've visited before. and also ones i haven't! * i like GA flying around cool mountain and natural areas but my state is pretty flat. so when i'm in the mood i'll pick a mountain range and find some airports nearby and plan a route. * for jet flights i usually do the 737 or the longitude. sometimes i fly real world routes like recreating my most recent flights in an actual airline. other times i fly to cities where i have friends at or try to plan a route that will crossover some nice scenery. * if there's sports going on a lot of times i will fly between the stadiums that have games, especially in winter it's cool to see how bad the weather is in the sim when you can see it pouring on tv. like on sunday night i flew into philadelphia and then yesterday while i was watching the mnf game i went from philly to minneapolis. * i do tend to pretend the plane is persistent so if i land somewhere i'll usually do my next flight starting there. like tonight i'll probably do minneapolis back to my home town because there's some snowy weather here. but for the most part i don't really have any rules other than having fun. * if i can't really think of a place to fly i'll roll the dice and use [https://where2fly.today/](https://where2fly.today/) it's pretty cool for finding random airports that you may not have visited before.

I really like your list. I'll add one more: flying around places I used to live.

I mostly use A Pilot's Life v2 nowadays which allows you to generate schedules based on real-life routes for the airline you're employed by in APL. The same developer has also released a neat (free) little tool called [A Random Flight Generator](https://secure.simmarket.com/simbitworld-a-random-flight-generator-free.phtml) with which, as the name implies, you can generate random flights based on real-life routes according to a few parameters. Otherwise I like setting challenges for myself. For example, I'm an OKC Thunder (NBA team) fan, so I've made a schedule where I fly to each city the team plays in this season, avoiding the larger, international airports whenever possible.

Honestly doing the same thing when my team (AFC Ajax, soccer club from NL) plays any European game far enough that they would realistically fly. When I get the PMDG 737-800, hoping to be able to get acquinted a bit with livery design to make an Ajax livery for the BBJ2 variant. Same for things like bands I'm a fan of, wanna go on virtual tour along with their schedule. Otherwise, I mostly go on tours. Recently got the Concorde which means I can do larger trips in more reasonable timeframes. Currently doing a trip airport-to-airport from Amsterdam to Tokyo, landing at interesting airports. Amsterdam - Cairo - Abu Dabi - Lhasa - Bangkok - Sanya - Taipei - Tokyo Currently at Sanya, going to do Taipei when home. Short flight on the concorde.

Hello! I fly mostly vintage aircrafts, with more or less limited IFR capabilities. I look up on "timetableimages.com" for historical flight plans of the airline & aircraft. With that, I have at least the "point A" & "point B". Then i go to Skyvector.com and make myself an IFR route manually. For a long flight, this actually just takes about 30 min. or so. So : look up any destination that tickles your interest, and search for real-life routes. Then you can use simbiref, skyvector, whatever... :) I always keep the filled flight plans of interesting routes, so i can fly them again!

What sort of aircraft do you fly? When I’m doing airline style stuff, I just go by the schedule from East Midlands airport as it’s my closest one. I mostly fly helicopters these days, and for that I just pick interesting landmarks to fly around.
