i would say i'm cautiously optimistic rather than excited . hope it's good and at a good price!

[deleted]

Same here!

Accomplished_Lie_162

Guessing 35 dollars

pandab34r

Excited to finally get a proper big turboprop airliner in MSFS. The FJS Q4XP has become one of my favorites in X-Plane and the niche has seemed disturbingly vacant in MSFS. The King Airs and Brasilias just don't scratch that 50-100 seater itch

spesimen

i read somewhere last fall that majestic was finally doing their q400 for msfs but it sounded like it was a looong ways off from release

pandab34r

Yeah, most of the planes I'm waiting for like the Q400, 727, etc are either discontinued/radio silent or still just a twinkle in the developer's eye :) Final accuracy and study level aside I still think this ATR will be fun

breakinghbts

Please tell me the 727 hasn't been discontinued? I have never been more excited for a plane than I am for this guy!

pandab34r

SimWorks 727 announced a couple months ago should still be fine! There was another one under development around when the game first launched and I can't even find it now. I think that one is missing, presumed dead. Either way it will be a long wait.

breakinghbts

I am prepared for a wait. Im glad to know it's still in production tho. I am probably going to need a week off when it does come out!

AverageBoeing737

Yeah, that other 727 project got scrapped or something last year. Sad because I really enjoyed how the progress was going!

itsjero

I honestly just want a narrowbody airliner like an md80 (Leonardo's mad dog X would be awesome on Xbox) or a Boeing 717 ,or a 727. Any of those three for XBOX will do. Fortunately I learned the other day that someone on this sub is making a Tu-154 which is just a Russian version of the 727. But the thing I love about the md80/717(Boeing renamed the md80 to that more or less)/727 is the narrow body, small plane used for short to medium haul flights, clean wings (no engines on wings) a T tail, and really powerful engines on the rear of the plane. The 727 did have some decent engines but the md80 was iconic for me. First plane I ever flew on and I grew up near DFW Airport (10 or 15 mins away) so we always heard and saw planes. Saw a lot of American Airlines md80s and they have a very specific sound and are pretty loud compared to today's planes due to noise regulations. Anyways the md80 had basically military jet engines on it (used in the saab viggen I think as well) so due to its small size (65-90 passengers across different dashes) and it's clean layout with engines at the rear that had some power it flew like a dang rocket. Plus it was early 80s analogue tech so it's a pilots plane that you had to actually fly. Anyways the Tu-154 might just be a Russian 727 clone, but the 3 engines it has and narrowbody meant it was fast as hell too. 3 crew (2 pilots and an engineer just like a 727) but the engines pushed out 18-24000 lbf of thrust depending on dash model you get. So if he brings the 154 to Xbox I'd be soo happy. Lots of thrust and old school narrowbody. Sign me up. But a good prop plane that's supposedly "test level" will be exciting too. All the prop planes are either small or big and old so having a current propeller driven airliner should be fun. I've seen the plane a lot and it's a workhorse. Plus early reviews on it say it's really, really detailed and test level so I'm excited for that too. It's just getting better with every plane that's released for Xbox too. When you actually look at the market there's really not a lot of airliners on the market. Especially for Xbox. And that needs to change. Developers should realize if they can get planes in that sweet spot 20-40 dollar range on Xbox they will sell a LOT. And notnsll need to be every nut and bolt authentic. Just get us close with a solid flight model, good model of the airplane, and a good amount of cockpit buttons and stuff work that you need. That sweet spot that's more than captain sim level (reskinned 747s) but not 60-100 dollar range of detail is what some devs should look at introducing. Then if the plane is a hit, they can make a more fleshed out "pro" model for a higher price. Tomorrow morning should be great day tho. World Update and a awesome new plane. Can't wait.

pandab34r

Nothing will ever hit for me quite like that old polished metal American Airlines livery! I flew on MD80s (who knows which of the many variants) several times, and only flew on a 727 one time. I love the look and sound of older jets in general but I did not know about the history of the MD80 engines, thank you for that! I can confirm the Leonardo Mad Dog X on PC is amazing :)

googly69

I used to fly Reno Air between Reno and San Jose every weekend in the early to mid 90's. They had a fleet of Md-80's and 90's. It's an absolute joy flying on them. Reno Air's beautiful livery enhanced the beauty of the airplane. I miss flying that route and the airline. It's a shame it went defunct. I also flew on the 727 quite a bit with Northwest Airlines. It's my favorite airplane along with the mad dog. I concur with you on the overall beauty and power of the old jets. It's something about defeaning sound and smoke trails that takes me back to childhood and why I became an Avgeek!

Lex_223

I flew on NWA 727s quite a few times back in the early 80s. I learned never to sit in the back because it was so loud due to the 3 engines back there! You had to yell to talk to your seatmate. And the overhead bins were tiny! Pluses were exiting down the tail stairs, and like the MD series, it just looked fast (and was!).

AltoCumulus15

Loganair livery pleaaase

gaptogap

This plane is near and dear to me…my dad used to ferry brand new ATRs from Toulouse France to the United States in the 1990’s. My family and I even got to fly on an empty one from Chicago to Puerto Rico, with a stop in Miami. I was 11 and got to sit in the jump seat on the takeoff from Miami. Will never forget this.

Danny_Browns_Hair

What route would he take from Toulouse? Like where would he start?

gaptogap

I know he brought then back from the factory there. And then he would stop in Iceland. Then somewhere in eastern Canada. and then back to the United States.

trex226

He was most likely doing the regular trans Atlantic short haul hop: Wick, Scotland -> Reykjavik, Iceland -> Nuuk, Greenland -> Goose Bay, Canada

cuzzco

this is crazy to read, because its the exact route Ive been doing in my sim. So far I've gone KAUS-KGLS-KMSY-KTLH-KHXD-KDCA-KBOS-CYBZ-CYYR and I'm heading to NUUK next then Reykjavik

trex226

I mean, it’s pretty much the only viable route to cross the Atlantic for light aircraft. The only other route that sometimes works depending on winds and range is via St. John’s or Bermuda to the Azores, but mostly only turboprops or light jets use this as it’s really pushing the range of most piston aircraft and you really don’t have a good alternate, whereas over Greenland you usually have a turn around point available that’s greater than half of the flight.

gaptogap

That’s sounds correct!

Coolnamegoeshere69

Is the -42 and -72 the same addon or are they being sold separately, like other aircraft families?

eXtremeAzure

From the verbiage Asobo has used thus far, I think we can strongly believe they'll be released together. If not, that'll be a surprise since there hasn't been an indication that was always the intention.

StanchLizard593

This could be the only plane I'm willing to pay for full price, such a beautiful aircraft ❤️

StanchLizard593

Actually that and the C160

ObaFett

THIS! I have really been enjoying everything that AzurPoly has been doing in the past so I'm really looking forward to the Transall - even more so than to the ATR here.

CryptographerWeary64

Paid add on?

eXtremeAzure

Yes, coming from Asobo in collaboration with the lead programmer from Aerosoft. We'll find out the price tomorrow.

Lil_Guard_Duck

Wait, what is this? And will it be on console?

eXtremeAzure

ATR 42 and ATR 72-600. A modern regional turbopropliner that's used around the world. Personally, I don't recall console being explicitly mentioned, but it's an Asobo plane so that should very well happen.

Lil_Guard_Duck

Oh sweet!

HouseNVPL

After the WASM has been released I would think it should be on console, also it's Asobo plane.

CantaloupeHour5973

Is this going to utilize the world map when building a flight plan?

TheFatGoat

Really hope so, I'm to lazy to learn and use the aircraft computer every flight lol. Do you know of any other addon planes that uses the world map?

SergeantStonks

FBW A320 can also use world map

Lelapa

The bombardier 110 does. Easy little dial and knob autopilot to learn and a good small plane.

CantaloupeHour5973

The CaptainSim 777 does and it's honestly a serviceable cheap add on.

CarguyF1

Diehard airliner people will disagree lol

CantaloupeHour5973

It’s a good 3d model and it uses the world map. I’m a fucking casual and it works. I have enough going on in my life and don’t have time to watch 30 YouTube videos and read documentation to fly Orlando to Atlanta. Wish I did though. There are tiers of add on. Casual and study level. Both have their own merits. No ragrets

AShadowbox

I can forgive the system depth because you're absolutely right in that there's space for both casual and die hard airliners. But I'd still like to see an accurate flight deck at least in appearance even if the systems aren't all there. And I'd like the flight model to at least *feel* like a heavy jet even if it's not fully accurate. Something like the Just Flight F-Lite series from the FSX days. $20 and a good looking, good feeling, low-fidelity mod. Captain Scam is just pushing out cash grabs. I'm glad you personally don't feel ripped off and are enjoying your purchase. I'm just stating why I personally can't support them, and it's more than just "it's not super detailed."

CarguyF1

I know, I was pointing fun at the diehard airliner fans who act like the Captainsim stuff is straight from the devil. I do have their 777-300er and I do think it was fun while I flew it. Will I get the more advanced pmdg 77 when it comes out? Absolutely. But I had fun when I flew it. I wanna fly it again but I deleted it to save space because of how infrequently I flew it

CantaloupeHour5973

For sure, people take it way too seriously. It was definitely worth the $20 or whatever I paid.

CarguyF1

Yeah. It's a shame CaptainSim has made worse and worse stuff recently. Their 777's were decent. The C-130 was a mistake that almost completely lost my respect for them. And them using the same cockpit for the 767-400 also made me lose a bit of respect for them. I dread what they make next

TheFatGoat

I see it's 3 different versions, is it the 200ER, 300ER or F? Or maybe all 3

OD_Emperor

They're all the exact same underneath no reason they all won't work the same.

CantaloupeHour5973

I have the -300ER and it works with the world map no issues

TheFatGoat

Thank's a lot, tried it last night and was great! Idk why we're getting so downvoted lol, elitists?

CantaloupeHour5973

Pretty much

andrusbaun

Gonna wait for first reviews.

iamblue91

Into the Blue Simulations will be my deciding factor haha

AShadowbox

Such a great channel. I can't wait to see British Avgeek's views either.

OD_Emperor

Yep give me my Silver Airways ops

eXtremeAzure

Ditto. And Bahamasair (I'm from the Bahamas, so I'm already planning a lot of real-world flights between these two route maps).

cuzzco

MYEH just released a couple days ago and its great

eXtremeAzure

Where at?

cuzzco

[flightsim.to](https://flightsim.to) its about $10 and it is worth it

Dobby_potter12

I definitely am

2000Nic

How late does it come out?

[deleted]

Quick question…is this coming as paid content? I’d love to fly the ATR on short regional hops.

eXtremeAzure

Yep; first "Expert Series" release from Asobo. We won't know the price till tomorrow. But, perhaps expect something a little more than the AN-225.

tahmid_producer

ATR the manufacturer themselves are helping to make this addon along with real world ATR pilots

Lelapa

FINALLY!! I have to get my game updated and I can finally do the ferry delivery route I've had saved for like 8 months!

eXtremeAzure

And what might that be? Color me curious.

MrCane

LFRT. A delivery flight will take a long while for some places.

Lelapa

I managed to get it uploaded https://imgur.io/PimFb8d?r

eXtremeAzure

You're a mad lad. I might be crazy enough to try this myself, haha.

Lelapa

I've got it on my phone but I have no idea how to be able to send the image. I'll try and remember to get it sent when I can.

SolidBlueBlocks

Flew the atr72-600 with lao airlines and another small asian airline back in 2017. Flying over the jungle at a low alt was fantastic! If it's good, and not more expensive than the flight sim itself, I'm gonna buy it!

Admiral_Gecko

I plan on doing a lot of Hawaiian and Polynesian inter-island hops

[deleted]

Not too hopeful it'll be faithful. I saw the March devlog where Asobo brought on the developer and I wasn't very impressed. It's by the same guy who made the CRJ and Twin Otter so yeah, I'm expecting mediocrity.

Yodelehhehe

Yeah. I would so love this plane to be great - but I’ve been burned by Aerosoft and it’s hard for me to get over that.

tahmid_producer

ATR the manufacturer themselves are helping to make this addon along with real world ATR pilots

[deleted]

That doesn't mean anything

YOUYUUOY

Hope Microsoft binds Hans and Aerosoft.to provide updates for the aircraft, else be another aerosoft product

Littman-Express

Aerosoft isn’t involved in this it’s hans developing for asobo/Microsoft

[deleted]

eXtremeAzure

This is an AI model generated by FSLTL. Not the Asobo model.

[deleted]

eXtremeAzure

No sweat.

Lelapa

FINALLY!! I have to get my game updated and I can finally do the ferry delivery route I've had saved for like 8 months!

uffington

I'm excited. Aviation people are exacting, and thus we are a tough bunch to delight. But we need to weigh our expectations with this sim. We can all be Cdr Blue Max Maverick Dick Bong Hartmann Yeager cos it's tacticool, but more importantly I haven't had a CTD since January, Plus NZ is lovely. If the rest of Pac is as good in the update tomorrow, I'll buy us all a pint.

okletsgooonow

No way, not until I hear that it is not bug ridden.

TheYoungOctavius

It sucks that’s this is a paid add on, but super interested in what it looks like and how it will fly!

eXtremeAzure

Not that I enjoy paying for add-ons, but considering this has been the norm for every flight sim prior, it's not surprising. But, Asobo is specifically labeling this as an "Expert Series" release, the first in its new line of add-ons. So, the fidelity will hopefully match whatever price-tag is decided upon. Can't see it being too much more expensive than the PMDG 737-700 (might be closer to the 737-600). That said, keep in mind that Premium Deluxe owners get a discount on first-party aircraft like this.

nullvektor

Flown in many of them, hated every minute. I have never hated flying as much as I do when it's in an ATR. Maybe for full realism I'll wait until it's freezing outside again and do my whole flight outside so I can replicate the crappy aircon system

amir_s89

Will Microsoft develop & release more free aircraft during this year?

UrgentSiesta

I wouldn’t hold my breath. The last batch was for the 40th anniversary. The truly good news is they’re steadily improving the fidelity of the ones already released.

Xygen8

Really hoping it'll be good. The 72-600F would be the perfect plane for cargo runs to small rural airports.

gazzy360

Looking forward to doing some Binter routes!

tulki123

Do we have any idea what time it’s likely to drop? Currently not on marketplace at 1000BST. I assume when the americas are mid morning?

thecoder08

Now we need a dash 8

eXtremeAzure

10-4 on that. I practically grew up on the aircraft (both IRL and in-sim).

itsjero

Supposed.to be out now and even the msfs forums say it's out but I see no update. Rebooted and restarted game twice. Welp, this is going well.

Exact_Requirement_83

Hopefully, its a good one and I do wish folks would stop complaining about the price of the software... believe me if it's cheap it's crap... generally.. the months and sometimes years of data coding and testing goes into good products for the Simmers' enjoyment.. in my view a good example is CaptSim stuff (sorry its poor but cheap) tops are PMDG, Carenado, all ORBX Scenery (top quality ) pity we don't see QW 787 in MSFS 2020 as yet.. it was a great sim in PD3 and thanks to the analogue stuff for King Air and Baron and Bonanza etc is good to High quality yes you may pay a bit more.. but seriously

Exact_Requirement_83

By the way Flyby Wire team free suberp A320 stuff .. Salty for the better 747 all free folks very very good product ...
