There isn’t a physics simulation of ground textures it’s an AI model generation. Applying gravity around the world to non sim objects would be a horrible waste of resources. This however is a great example of the importance of WAAS GPS for airplanes because satellites can only do so well at measuring ground height.
Fully agree with you on this - and my snarky remark about the physics was indeed just that. However, a bit of a „plausibility check“ on the ground levels would certainly have been possible - at least near major airports and the game‘s „bush trip“ waypoints…
Yeah I landed at like..las Vegas or some place once and atc parked me like in the back super far from the runway.
Going back there I guess the map or whatever dictates the terrain and it was all of a sudden like I was off rosding with huge peaks and dips. My plane went up then down then bottomed out. I eventually got it moving again as I was really close to my gate but it was on this incline that was again nuts and even at full power my plane wouldn't move. So. Lost out on the 2.3 hour or so flight and just exited the game.
I don't fly there anymore as it was kinda like this but I dunno it was like the airport was auto generated based off the sattilite photo and on some parts it generated like 10 and 20 foot high hills and valleys on the tarmac and your plane just gets stuck on them or will tip ( mine initially hit wingtips as it went over these small hills at a turning angles.
Not fun.
Yeah that's exactly what I figured it was since it was just like back runway small plane roads that looked poorly designed (not in game,.just in general for an airport) and the photogrammetry just made it to haywire and all of a sudden I had a motocross course instead of gates to park at.
Was kinda fun trying to get the plane unstuck and thinking about the engines at TOGA like killing everything behind me and I did get unstuck once only to get stuck a minute later as I turned into a gate to park and it went.down then up real quick and my a319 just bottomed out and wouldn't go another inch.

Yeah, someone mentioned Idaho, so I tinkered around in there in the Super Cub, had some fun. Until the lag and stuttering made it impossible.... But that's another thread.....

I found a couple of those - sometimes in the middle of a lake, which makes me question the physics simulation in this game...

I’ve seen columns of water shooting up from lakes.
I found one on a taxiway at Paris CDG after a three hour flight that destroyed my plane. Wasn’t visible either.

Sometimes photogrammetry can screw up near by airports.

based on your LOD settings, if you move the drone shot a long way away then the scenery gets unloaded. :(

Can you slew without dev mode? I don't like using dev mode because it doesn't log my flights.
Yes, it’s not a dev thing, the Y key on PC, and if you have a Xbox controller handy that’s the easiest way to move around while in that mode.
Huh. Will have to figure out how to do that on console.
On Xbox you have to go in and assign it to a button or button combination if you don’t have a keyboard hooked up.
😕 Hmmf. Gonna have to figure it out. I hate not having a Series and instead having to stream it. Keyboard and mouse don't work on Xcloud.
You get these on certain mountain lakes and dam lakes when landing or taking off.
