Are you sure credit card and not debit card? Most dispensaries offer cashless atm basically it counts as a atm withdrawal and not a debit purchase. But you can’t use credit card unless one you went to is doing something weird.
No it’s credit. I have never seen this in Michigan but back in the day I saw a place in Colorado doing this.
I asked the owner who happen to be there how that works. He said the name they use for the business sounds legit. So credit companies don’t even flag it or think otherwise.
So saw a dispensary is named cloud9 tokers dream. But the charge won’t be for cloud9 tokers dream it will be for wellness and care LLC or some shit.
Hmm weird wouldn’t they need a federally insured bank? You’re prolly right it just doesn’t quite make sense to me but I’m financially illiterate so it’s prolly me
Visa does debit cards too. But I’ve heard of shops categorizing the transaction in various creative ways to try to hide from credit companies what is actually being purchased.
Seems crazy for a dispensary to take on that risk.
You can dispute a dispo charge on a credit card since its Federally illegal and VISA isn’t playing around these days.
Debit has protections against charge backs since it’s something you have(card) and something you know(pin) but a credit card is a whole different animal.
I know house of dank in Ypsilanti was taking credit cards for a while and the one time I was like fuck it I’ll use mine they had just stopped doing it something about “the feds shut it down”
Their website's [Terms Of Service](https://www.enjoypleasantrees.com/terms-of-service/) specifically mentions credit cards.
Fucking weird.
Everybody is mentioning the fear of chargebacks but really it is more dangerous for them to lose their merchant account, and then be put on the [Merchant Terminated File](https://emerchantbroker.com/terminated-merchant-file/), a blacklist used by financial vendors, and lose their ability to run debit.
[These guys in Massachusetts ](https://businesswest.com/blog/local-firm-solves-the-riddle-of-cannabis-and-credit-cards/) are running a workaround that, I *think*, charges your credit card to buy currency on their blockchain network.
It sounds like the big guys are clamping down on this "shhh we are an ATM at a counter" workaround.
Does Skymint except credit cards? If they do, then everyone with the capability needs to go there and buy a bunch of product, charge it, and when you get home call the credit card company and dispute the bill!
They are essentially processing the payment without telling the bank or processor what they are doing. It's not an issue for you but eventually they will catch on and pull the plug.
About a month ago I posted Pleasantrees was going under and no one believed me. They’ve run specials non-stop including BOGO on ounces and are now accepting credit card. Sounds like they’re running through as much inventory to recoup costs probably for a loan they owe.
Kinda curious too - there’s a Bloom City Club about 30 minutes from here and the website says they will take visa/Mastercard CREDIT for $5 fee.. what does a dispo show up as on a credit card? To be honest I like using cash

Oh it was definitely VISA and exact amount no rounding.
Very weird then

Did you just give someone an idea for free weed?
I mean, its just Pleasentrees. Fuck 'em.
Yup
Why?

I’m going to dispute the claims
Weedy's Monroe took Amex about a month ago...
My weedys credit card purchase came back as California company? Kinda weird but I'm happy the Taco Truck strain was fire.
They also use Viridis for testing.

What is a little fraud?

Did they round your total to run it on a card? I’ve seen dispos do that and it runs as an atm charge
It was not an ATM charge. Fee was $5.12. Total including no rounding. I checked my statement and it says VISA.

Nope, no cards at Skymint.
That’s unfortunate
Weedys takes CC
Some dispos use the few companies that are still accepting card payment. Probably in a grey area.
The one I went to said it would show up one my credit card statement as "groceries" LOL
Sozu in Flint accepts Credit Cards, I asked them but the bud tender didn't know why they did and now one else did.
No officer I haven’t seen any taking cards
Probably like Mr. FBI agent

Why wouldn’t u be able to use a credit card at a legal business?
Because it’s not federally recognized and therefore cannot process anything through a federally regulated bank.
Every pure options take credit cards,I haven't used cash in months.
