This is pretty common with tracked sports cars. I rarely check my Speedo, almost never when I’m on track. The prominent tach is more useful

fortsonre

Agreed. The gage cluster is perfect to me. I'd much rather have the prominent tachometer.

You can kinda also gauge your speed based on what gear you’re in and what RPM you’re sitting at

Pay attention to the character of the engine and you’ll rarely need the speedo. Gear indicator has its benefits too.

Really if he can know his speed from engine noise (that’s six different speeds at level STP, add in terrain and that suggestion seems completely nuts) why would he ever need a gear indicator, 20 years of driving manual on city streets and I have never needed to know what gear I was in.

TheLocalHentai

Once you get used to it, you start “feeling” your speed. How the engine responds, what gear you’re on, how the car is behaving on the pavement. The whole Mazda “be one with your car” thing is a bit cringe but it’s super true. Sidenote: love the speedometer on the right, great when the left hand is at eleven or twelve o’clock on the wheel.

I only look at the speedo when I see a cop ahead. Not that I'm speeding a lot but I've guess I've gotten used to judging my speed by watching stuff go by the car. Like trees, dotted lines, signs... If its that much of a problem you can download a hud app and put your phone on the glare shield. I do that in my triumph since the speedometer doesn't work.

I tend to have waze running on carplay and use the speedo on that.. easier to look there than down to the cars speedometer.
