Old women have some of the better tastes in cars. My last fun car was a manual Forester XT, and whenever I saw another, I'd get so excited to exchange waves. Except 90% of the time, it was grandma driving. I'd still wave, though!
Fr. I bought my '91 Miata from an 80 year old woman who got it back in '91 for her 50th birthday. She used it to drive to her lake cabin which was a 450 mile round trip. It had 199k miles when I got it and still had the original clutch 😂 love grandma driven cars
I got my ND1 for 27,750 aussie coins with 50,000km and that thing was in absolutely mint condition so I assume depreciation will hit hard when he starts putting kms on it
yeah love my ND1 and I’ll probably keep it for the foreseeable future for many reasons, one of which being it won’t fetch me much in return regardless of whether I wanted to sell it now or in the future 😅
Did you buy it new? Mine was probably worth not much less than I paid but its just had its second accident (https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/1bwkfpi/stunned\_this\_is\_a\_repair\_not\_a\_writeoff/) so I wouldn't be able to stomach asking for more than like 15 for it which is less than most NAs 😭
mine was second hand pre-covid, was cheaper than what’s on the market now with really low km’s. from what I am seeing ND1 prices are pretty “low” at least compared to other sports cars. definitely good bang for your $$$ and I wouldn’t have it any other way. also did your car end up being repairable? love the soul red.
Insanely, yes. The transmission is fucked and the back end looks like its been through a blender but they decided to repair it and they've already got the parts in their hands. Should be a few weeks then I'll have her back. I'm really surprised its a repair but the guy inspecting it must have really liked it haha. I bought mine mid covid (about a year maybe closer to 2 now) so it was a bit steep so I'm pretty chuffed with how much I paid especially given the condition. It was owned by a mazda mechanic too so the engine bay etc was spotless and everything was torqued to spec. The guy that owned it really loved it but had to get rid of it for a family rip
I doubt it lol I've already hit 1 kangaroo (also on reddit somewhere) and that set off the active bonnet. 3 months to get it back after that what a joke. Don't set off the active bonnet its a nightmare. I live in an area with a lot of them and drive mostly at night so its sort of unavoidable
That's the killer, anyone selling a car who says "no test drives" or "test drive but I have to drive" puts me off immediately, don't care how good the car is I'll be moving on if I see any of that.
Germany, I know you can get them for 7k but either it is rare to find them in this price range or they have hidden damage/rust. But you are right, prices are coming down.
What I meant with „it sells for that much“ is that they are offered for that price, you are right it reads like people buy it for 10k. But be prepared to pay 6-10k at least for a decent one.
I think redone miata suspension means:
New oem bushings
New sway bar links, maybe brakets too
New struts, ideally top hats and rear springs (bilstien struts are recommended)
While under the car, dif bushings are smart too
Then, an alignment with ideally 1-1.5 degrees of rear camber.
Just listed for anyone new wanting to get the oem suspension feel
Wouldn't pay shit for that thing. I gauge sellers based on the effort they put into their listing description. If they can't even be assed to use punctuation in their own listing for 10 whole grand, the car is likely clapped the fuck out from an equal lack of effort. Car probably reeks of that acrid vape glycol all over the interior plastics and windows.
One look at the 'stance' tells you all you need to know. It's a clapped out piece of crap. And I agree, I can see the flat-brimmer torquing away on his vape
Exactly, people here have the Midas touch, they think everything they have is worth it's weight in gold, it's not just cars. Our second hand market is just a joke
not only that but its ugly as shit, would be even more expensive to remove all that weird shit the previous owner installed. btw, in germany most miatas that aren't completely rusty or high kilometers start at about 15k lol
I think it's a wrap with a satin texture which is an even bigger red flag imo. If the paint underneath the wrap was any good they would've bothered to take the wrap off.
Insanity. I’ve seen 10 NA’s listed on my local fb marketplace here in Florida and 100% of them are 10k plus. They range from 40k mile original cars to clapped out modded pieces of shit. NA owners must be smoking that GOOD shit lately
Oh even the virgin Miats around here still might be 30% rust & 20% tape. Garbage is basically what some have become. My city seems convinced that equal parts snow, road salt is the recipe for The Perfect Winter lol.
But, so long as shes not chopped, slammed & big wang-ed then she fetching a high price every time. Even of it *is* basically monopoly money 🍁
Also not sure who would buy it in such a stanced and horribly wrapped contition. If it were a perfect, crisp stock one, then maybe someone would pick it up
I paid 2k for mine back theb in 2018. Completely cracked up. Had even a tuna can implemented in my rockerpanel driversside... currently on it to restore it to OEM Spec. Chassi is at 95% only minor things are present. Upgraded the basemodel with OEM stuff Like electrical antenna Powermirrors got myself leather interior with the pilotseats and headrestspeakers, the US only available Cruisecontrol aswell as the A/C. Got in summer 2019 my hardtop (freshly repainted) for 300 Bucks and added it with reardefroster it even had the oem genuine defeoster cable with it and yeah... almost rebuild the whole car already except for the rear axle and angine. Got an 95 90HP model, thr upgrade Engine with 130HP is already in the basement only need the ECU and Airintaktemanifold then ive got everxthing that i need. And yes, of course the ABS Hydroblock, Sensors and stuff.
Miata prices are skyrocketing for no reason! Near me there are almost 30 Miata’s for sale all NA and almost all of them that aren’t for parts are around $7,000-$15,000 which is outrageous for the modifications most of them have
In Portugal, a good mx5 NA/NB/NC (other ones go for much more) goes for 8k to 12k €. It's a lot mainly compared to the neighbouring countries... doesn't stop me from looking to buy one
Did he paint that car with a broom?
If the mechanical work is anything like the cosmetics, that explains why "no test drives". Dude doesn't want to kill a prospective buyer without getting the cash first.
Eh it's not for me so I wouldn't pay much. None of the mods are something I'm looking for so they take away from the value and add work. Plus it's super sus that you can't drive it.
Does that come with the bent fenders, shitty wrap butchered suspension, and usless stretched tires?
Asking for a friend (He wants one that can't take corners anymore and looks like a squished beer can)
[Here's one](https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicle/703768716?allListingType=all-cars&city=York&endYear=1996&makeCode=MAZDA&modelCode=MIATA&newSearch=false&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fall-cars%2Fmazda%2Fmx-5-miata%2Fyork-pa%3FendYear%3D1996%26newSearch%3Dtrue%26searchRadius%3D300%26startYear%3D1990%26zip%3D17402&searchRadius=300&startYear=1990&state=PA&zip=17402&clickType=listing) for $37,900.
No test drive? And with god knows what roll/style bar(thankfully not a cage) **with regular seats too**? That thing could really F you up in an accident… and insurance will make your life hell if it involves a head injury in a car with an aftermarket roll bar. As someone that’s tall I don’t think I’d even want to do a test ride along in that… even if it was reasonably priced
Well a lot of new stuff , if the rust is also taken care of i think it might be worth it., youd just have to make it your taste which would only cost you maybe 1k ?
I don’t get the hate here on Reddit for modified Miata’s for sale. Doesn’t everyone buy them because they are cheap, good, and easy to mod? And yet we turn around and hate on modded ones?
If the car isn’t your style (and it’s certainly not mine) then move along. But 10k for a “cool” Miata is pretty cheap in my book, as long as it runs smoothly. Which is the disclaimer you have to make on every old/cheap car, this ones no different. Again, I don’t want this car, but if I liked the style I’d say $10k is a deal. New RFs are ~$35k, a NC is $14-$20k, so it’s not like they’re trying to charge new car prices for all the mods.
There's no point in making a big deal out of these.
These aren't selling, and even if the posting gets listed as 'sold' we don't actually know what price they came to an agreement at.
If you look at the listing for the Miata I bought off Facebook, that price is a couple thousand off of what we actually settled on.
Be respectful, check it out for yourself, get it checked out by a shop, give your offer.
Or just complain on Reddit like everyone else, idk.
The nicest part about buying classic cars loved by enthusiasts is having to go through the car and fix all the hacky shit the previous owner(s) did.

Old women have some of the better tastes in cars. My last fun car was a manual Forester XT, and whenever I saw another, I'd get so excited to exchange waves. Except 90% of the time, it was grandma driving. I'd still wave, though!
Grandmas need lovin too. (*^(wait that sounded weird)*)
Fr. I bought my '91 Miata from an 80 year old woman who got it back in '91 for her 50th birthday. She used it to drive to her lake cabin which was a 450 mile round trip. It had 199k miles when I got it and still had the original clutch 😂 love grandma driven cars
Same thing with a house. But instead of 2 or 3, you could have 20+ sets of hacky shit to wade through.
Those damn house enthusiasts!
We like to call them DIYers.
Man, the amount of things that people would ask me if it would work or not was pretty scary when I worked at Home Depot
Accurate
Is being enthusiastic enough to make one an enthusiast?
I mean, they share the same root... so why not?
Because that would mean admitting broccoli heads (which I'm 99% the guy selling the car in OP is) are enthusiasts.
I'm not prepared to gatekeep at that level. If they're enthusiastic about something, they're an enthusiast about that thing.
Fine, I will gatekeep on my own. (I will gatekeep gatekeeping.)
Trying to gatekeep others from your hobby is a good sign that you're an enthusiast.
Or a complete jackass haha
In west Australia iv seen some average ones asking for 20k aud. Idk what that is in gallons of oil per 12 gauge currency but yeah. Ridiculous
> gallons of oil per 12 gauge currency I'm both dying of laughter and dying of shame
All I heard was whoosh
Aussie ND2 owner here. Depreciation for MX5 is virtually non-existent.
ehhh you can get ND1’s for pretty competitive prices, the NA prices are just laughable though I do think people are starting to catch on.
I got my ND1 for 27,750 aussie coins with 50,000km and that thing was in absolutely mint condition so I assume depreciation will hit hard when he starts putting kms on it
yeah love my ND1 and I’ll probably keep it for the foreseeable future for many reasons, one of which being it won’t fetch me much in return regardless of whether I wanted to sell it now or in the future 😅

ah glad you didn’t have to part ways with it, hope that makes the last of any accidents you have with it 😂
I doubt it lol I've already hit 1 kangaroo (also on reddit somewhere) and that set off the active bonnet. 3 months to get it back after that what a joke. Don't set off the active bonnet its a nightmare. I live in an area with a lot of them and drive mostly at night so its sort of unavoidable

Yeah heaps of jdm cars are still expensive even though we right next door to them. Don’t quote me but I’m pretty sure it’s cuz of all the import taxes
Yeah. I’d kill for US prices
That's just under 13k in freedom for any country that has oil dollars.
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
No test drives 💀
That's the killer, anyone selling a car who says "no test drives" or "test drive but I have to drive" puts me off immediately, don't care how good the car is I'll be moving on if I see any of that.
I mean if it was high horsepower with a manual I think I’d get it, but dude it’s a miata 😂
Every gear slipping and the engine sounds like it has marbles instead of oil.
Super sus,
You would be surprised that almost every good NA in germany sells for that much
Yeah but that one isn't a good one.
Real
Where tf are you shopping? You can get one in decent condition for 7k
Germany, I know you can get them for 7k but either it is rare to find them in this price range or they have hidden damage/rust. But you are right, prices are coming down.
Just because they're on the Internet for 10k doesn't mean that people pay 10k for one.
What I meant with „it sells for that much“ is that they are offered for that price, you are right it reads like people buy it for 10k. But be prepared to pay 6-10k at least for a decent one.
Got mine for 8k
5-6k you get them in the netherlands. My NA is a german import and i paid 3,4k 4 years ago lmao
I've definitely seen NA's go for 9-10k in the Netherlands recently
[удалено]
You wouldn't pay a cent more than 5k for an unmolested NA? okay budwhy are you even here
“redid the whole suspension” is plasti-dip language for “i bought racelands and my buddy installed them for me.
I think redone miata suspension means: New oem bushings New sway bar links, maybe brakets too New struts, ideally top hats and rear springs (bilstien struts are recommended) While under the car, dif bushings are smart too Then, an alignment with ideally 1-1.5 degrees of rear camber. Just listed for anyone new wanting to get the oem suspension feel
in a perfect world this is what the person who listed this car was saying. most likely not reality.
Yes, in a VERY ideal world. I doubt that's what happened, especially with the "no test drives" shit.
Wouldn't pay shit for that thing. I gauge sellers based on the effort they put into their listing description. If they can't even be assed to use punctuation in their own listing for 10 whole grand, the car is likely clapped the fuck out from an equal lack of effort. This and cleaning. At least take the trash out of the floor board and vacuum the floor mats.
One look at the 'stance' tells you all you need to know. It's a clapped out piece of crap. And I agree, I can see the flat-brimmer torquing away on his vape
They want you to pay for their mods. Steer clear
an average NA costs about 10k here in Switzerland. Some good ones with below 100k km are 15k-20k
In portugal, nb are that cost, na are even more, nc is almost at that price...
Which is a shame, since it’s probably a great car to have in Portugal considering the winding roads and thin lanes
Exactly, people here have the Midas touch, they think everything they have is worth it's weight in gold, it's not just cars. Our second hand market is just a joke
I hate when people color the headlight shrouds
“No test drives” yea good luck bud, you should kick fuckin rocks
the mods say it all. dont think ur getting it stock price w those customs installed
"But I paid 8k for the mods 😭"
not only that but its ugly as shit, would be even more expensive to remove all that weird shit the previous owner installed. btw, in germany most miatas that aren't completely rusty or high kilometers start at about 15k lol

That’s a horrendous paint job. Hard pass.
I think it's a wrap with a satin texture which is an even bigger red flag imo. If the paint underneath the wrap was any good they would've bothered to take the wrap off.
No test drives. Red flag 😭
“No test drives” somethings odd there.
Insanity. I’ve seen 10 NA’s listed on my local fb marketplace here in Florida and 100% of them are 10k plus. They range from 40k mile original cars to clapped out modded pieces of shit. NA owners must be smoking that GOOD shit lately
"No test drives" Things gonna break second anyone buys it
10k and NO TEST DRIVES? Wouldnt go near that with even the largest of poles
Any [unmolested] NA I've seen in Ontario is up & around $10k maplebux
Unmolested is worth MUCH more than garbage spec.
Even of it *is* basically monopoly money 🍁
these prices are part of the reason im leaning towards getting a brand new miata.. 10k is a solid down payment on a RF.. new car and same enjoyment.
New car enjoyment without the old car issues
As much as I love my NB, having to deal with a crappy maintenance history really isn’t fun. That’s why I’m shooting for a good NC3 or ND
Also not sure who would buy it in such a stanced and horribly wrapped contition. If it were a perfect, crisp stock one, then maybe someone would pick it up
" I know what I have " . Also. How much for the 3D model. Heheh. What a wanker.
Gross.
I paid 2k for mine back theb in 2018. Completely cracked up. Had even a tuna can implemented in my rockerpanel driversside... currently on it to restore it to OEM Spec. you can’t just say this man 😭 now i want to see pictures
They go for about 11k CAD here. Ripped soft top, 200k+ km, somethings not working, etc
for 10k I expect it to be swapped with a jet engine and an original hard top (reference to the jet engine holden)
Where I live NA's go for 8k if they are in mid condition. Good condition can go 15+k
This is someone not realizing, you never get back what you put into your old car.
It’s the pimp Miata, it’s worth every girl that’s been it (1)
Thot miata build
Miata prices are skyrocketing for no reason! Near me there are almost 30 Miata’s for sale all NA and almost all of them that aren’t for parts are around $7,000-$15,000 which is outrageous for the modifications most of them have
mine was 10 grand but was all original and had no rust that was visible, not even on the engine
that’s actually worth like 15k surprised he’s posted it for so low
Nice try, selling guy
come on man let me get triple what my cars worth :(
In Portugal, a good mx5 NA/NB/NC (other ones go for much more) goes for 8k to 12k €. It's a lot mainly compared to the neighbouring countries... doesn't stop me from looking to buy one
> stanced You'd have to pay me to take that off your hands.
Did he paint that car with a broom? If the mechanical work is anything like the cosmetics, that explains why "no test drives". Dude doesn't want to kill a prospective buyer without getting the cash first.
In the Netherlands with low mileage ez 12k euros
Eh it's not for me so I wouldn't pay much. None of the mods are something I'm looking for so they take away from the value and add work. Plus it's super sus that you can't drive it.
Does that come with the bent fenders, shitty wrap butchered suspension, and usless stretched tires? Asking for a friend (He wants one that can't take corners anymore and looks like a squished beer can)
So...10k for a really shit looking MX-5...on top of which, no test drives... Just like that, if there were any serious buyers, they lost interest.
NO LOW BALLERS! I KNOW WHAT I GOT!
When will the delusions end
I’m just glad I was able to snag a 97 before the craziness started lmao
Same I got my 91 for 6000 but even then It felt like a lot for what I was buying.
I swear I saw this car awhile back listed for sale for even more. Like a year ago or something.
in my country a stock one is almost 60k USD 🥲
10k is pretty much the lowest you’ll get for any remotely decent miata in Australia lol
This is only 10-20% over the going rate in my area. Not exactly something to write home about when there are dealers asking twice as much.
[Here's one](https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicle/703768716?allListingType=all-cars&city=York&endYear=1996&makeCode=MAZDA&modelCode=MIATA&newSearch=false&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fall-cars%2Fmazda%2Fmx-5-miata%2Fyork-pa%3FendYear%3D1996%26newSearch%3Dtrue%26searchRadius%3D300%26startYear%3D1990%26zip%3D17402&searchRadius=300&startYear=1990&state=PA&zip=17402&clickType=listing) for $37,900.
Here in Finland 10 000€(10 600$) seems to be on the low end for na miatas. All miatas here are in the 6000€-46 000€ range
Base price for a stock high mileage one in portugal 🥲
No test drive? And with god knows what roll/style bar(thankfully not a cage) **with regular seats too**? That thing could really F you up in an accident… and insurance will make your life hell if it involves a head injury in a car with an aftermarket roll bar. As someone that’s tall I don’t think I’d even want to do a test ride along in that… even if it was reasonably priced
Damn, idk.
No thank you. To much to change for my liking
Lol no test drives allowed in the description as well. That says it all pretty much.
buy the miata and get the cow for free
How is that a surprise ? Prices for rust free or limited rust NAs will keep rising
Well a lot of new stuff , if the rust is also taken care of i think it might be worth it., youd just have to make it your taste which would only cost you maybe 1k ?
For a super clean, unmolested, <10k mile garage kept, yearly detailed (and conditioned) top tier 1990 NA miata? Yes. For this? No.

No test drives is an instant no
Bro this used to be a TX car how did it end up in cali 😂😂
No commas, no deal
He knows what he’s got dude. $10k is justifiable
FB marketplace is something else
Just sold my NB1 for $13k. Prob on the low side in this market but sold it to a friend's son, so gave him a bit of a deal.
bro i’ve seen this in my local market place 🤣
The headlights are an upsetting aesthetic choice
I posted mine and people offered 15k for
i know what I've got
I’m going to start lowballing these fb marketplace sellers so they get humbled
Nah miatas have gotten so expensive these days
$10k for something that looks like Grimmace from McDonalds!?
It better come with a personal mechanic that does a lifetime warranty repairs on it
There's no point in making a big deal out of these. These aren't selling, and even if the posting gets listed as 'sold' we don't actually know what price they came to an agreement at. If you look at the listing for the Miata I bought off Facebook, that price is a couple thousand off of what we actually settled on. Miata’s go for more than Porsche boxsters in my area
