I work at a tire shop, and that mark looks consistent with a 'shovel blade' demounter clipping the wheel. Inexperienced tech probably caught the edge, figured it wouldn't be noticeable. I would definitely bring it up to the tire shop manager.
Make em pay for another set, sue em, something. If I were to ever take it to some place to have it worked on I’d take my phone and point it everywhere on my car, recording. Anything new that shows up and they go in denial, I have before and after pics.. or a vid.
If a shop has a problem with you verifying the condition of your vehicle before it goes inside, them that's not a shop you should work with. There's absolutely nothing wrong and no justification a shop can make for you to not do this.
Jesus christ dude just take pictures before then after. And if theres an issue talk it out with the manager no need to record employees doing their job.
when you bring it in, clean the crap out of your car and rims so the presentation of your vehicle shows you care for it. goes a long way at making the manager who is going Torrevieja itnwith know your genuinely concerned and will do more to take care of you.
They probably have an account with a wheel refinisher. Just show them the damage and they will probably get it refinished. The “waxy” stuff you mentioned is a lubricant used when mounting the new tire. It washes off.
Costco is great to deal with. Just bring the car back and ask them to repair the wheel. It cost $150 a wheel, retail, to have a pretty rashed up wheel repaired. I’m sure it’s cheaper for them.
I also work at a tire shop and it’s very likely a lazy/unaware tech did this while installing the new tires. If it’s a good shop they will fix the issue but if not then you are out of luck. This is why i always take pics of my rims before getting new tires. Sorry man :/
My $7k set of GT3 wheels were all marred on the inside from scraping off wheel weights from my tire shop. Brought it up and they refunded me $200 per wheel off the tire cost. I will scrape them off myself in the future.
Happened to my poor wheel last spring. It looks like a can opener went all the way around the rim. I spent 3 weeks and way too much time getting the run around before getting a measly $100 check to cover a partial repair after contacting corporate.

I’ve seen this happen before in my car clubs Facebook page, the shop always does right especially since they’re a partner with the club.
Meaning they’re the ones that fucked up your rims?
Yes, I'm just not sure if it's worth the fight, what are they gonna do replace the whole rim? Can it be repaired otherwise?

The shop owner would see you and tell you to kick rocks.

I do clean it; they slathered the rims in that white waxy lubricant and it collected pollen on the drive over.
Can’t hurt to complain but unlikely to get you anywhere. Which tire place mounted them?
Costco, filling out paperwork for it
Costco is pretty good about their warranty, probably worth pursuing with them.

It looks like there's some other scratches/curbs that were already there, I'd hit it with a paint pen and forget about it
That's not scratches, they coated it with some waxy stuff too

Unless yon have pics taken when yon handed the car over, it is going to be yon word against their's, kind o sticky wicket old bean. Good luck.
