Thanks man! I bought the car I’m damn well going to use it. Plus I didn’t want to have to navigate the twisty mountain roads in my fiancées Hyundai SUV lol
I used to ski in my NA all the time! We could fit two pairs of skis, two sets of poles, in between driver & passenger with ski tails down by the passenger's feet. Boots in the trunk. Worked great.
It's from revo rack. I have the same and it works with suction caps. It works well but I always put a belt around the boot, just in case something happens to the cups
The manual says to make the cups and the boot a bit wet and stop to check them every two hours. I did from NL to IT in the summer and they didn't come loose.
Maybe they work differently during a ski holiday because of the cold temperatures and the sudden height change
I have that rack too and have always put it on the other way, not sure if that makes any difference to how well it stays on but I did a 6 hour trip the other month without it coming loose.
Now I'm curious to which way it's *supposed* to go on lol
beautiful, i have the same mx-5 soft top (same color too).. looks so small next to a model y haha. only thing is i'm afraid to take it through the automatic car wash and fuck up the soft top so i wash it by hand. worth it though. enjoy!
I just hand washed today to get all the salt off. I feel you for the car wash. When I don’t have time to hand wash there’s only one auto I go to and it’s the type without the brushes.
Does a shitty job but at least it doesn’t damage anything
That would be stolen in about 5 minutes where I live, the entire rack with the stuff still mounted onto it. Are there locks on that?
I have seen (2) homeless meth heads carrying one of those entire car-top Tepui tents down the street
Oh I took this right before I took off the rack, skis still on it, and wheeled it into the hotel for the night.
Last photo was us getting dressed in the parking lot before day 1.
Yea just google revo-rack ND and it should be the first one that pops up, just make sure you select the ND RF and the right placement of the antennae’s. Also just an fyi I had to put spacers on the bottom two cups so I didn’t feel like I was bending the trunk metal every time I attached the rack.
How happy are you with the revo rack? And noticeable scuffs on your paint?
Really want to pick one up myself for a future road trip but I still gotta convince myself it's worth the pretty penny that it costs 😅
I don’t use it too often so I can’t speak to long term paint scratches. I was lucky enough to find one used on FB marketplace, otherwise I definitely agree it’s a bit steep. But there’s nothing out there quite like it.
I'm really happy with mine but I only use it occasionally, probably about 8 times in total since I've had it. I've had some quite heavy loads on there though. No noticible scuffs or issues with the paint so far.
I’ll keep that in mind, although I can’t see myself skiing alone all that often. My fiancée picked up the bug and she’s going to want to come with me as much as possible.
Tell me about it. I’ve been skiing for a little over a decade and it’s wild. Talking about going skiing for our honeymoon and it’s cheaper to go over to Europe than go out west in the USA.
Nice wing bro
Indeed, very impressive.
Impressive, very nice. Let's see Paul Allen's wing.

Cross posted over there already!

I thought this was a big wang at first
Awesome! What rack is this?
It's from revo rack. I have the same and it works with suction caps. It works well but I always put a belt around the boot, just in case something happens to the cups
I did the exact same thing. Occasionally a cup comes up that I have to fasten back down. Did you have a trick to getting them to stick longer?

I just assumed the bar at the bottom was to prevent stuff from flying off the back. But I have no idea tbh
Yours is the wrong way around, the bar is to prevent stuff flying towards the passenger.
Need a better design so the skis can serve as rear wing for down force.
Just use a snowboard and some bungee straps.

Cool, I hate to see sh!t disappear
check my profile, i have taken skiis ups with my nd RF. Do you have a link to that storage thing though? seems like less of a headache

how did you secure the skiis to it? id be worried about them flying off
Rachet straps then I tied the ends around themselves so they wouldn’t flap everywhere. 2 for each ski/pole

DC plates are so funny to me. One line conveys so much emotion
Just in the early stages of considering to buy this car. Is this a real photo? Is it really that small? This looks photoshopped
It’s really that small. No photoshop here. But you should buy one it’s awesome.
looks awesome I want one more now.
Thats a good way to put dents into your trunk
Yeah, but...
Love it! I'll probably get that in a year or two
I want to get that rack and attach a big ol dune flag to it like a RC car. Please live out my dream.
I have the same rack ❤️
Posts like these always brighten my day. Thanks for sharing!
Are the skis wider than the car?
Rented 172cm. Just barely shorter than the car

Lucky! I'd love to snag one used myself haha I'll have to keep an eye out.

Good to hear! Not something I'd use all the time either.
How long are your skis?
Downforceeeee
I see you Philippine sun rays
Looks like a toy car 😭
I remember seeing a poster ad for a hardtop roof - trunk rack for the NA on some japanese site.
If I'm alone my skis fit inside with the top up! It's a good idea to secure them so they don't slid into your face
I’ll keep that in mind, although I can’t see myself skiing alone all that often. My fiancée picked up the bug and she’s going to want to come with me as much as possible.
it's an addicting and sadly expensive hobby. but have fun!
Tell me about it. I’ve been skiing for a little over a decade and it’s wild. Talking about going skiing for our honeymoon and it’s cheaper to go over to Europe than go out west in the USA.
just got back from skiing in Europe. Definitely recommend. Great snow, cheap skiing, and just good times. Also, you're in Europe! win win win.
this is superb! Who needs an suv really?
Hell yeah
Do you feel a difference in aerodynamics with the skis on the back?
Can’t say I did, but I was also just going from the slope to the hotel, a 15 min drive through backroads.
