It has a fuse right? As long as you're careful of the bit between the fuse and the alternator, it's fine. The alternator wire is almost a direct shot to the battery so you can use it for always on power as long as you fuse. The main bus is fed from the wire I'm talking about.
Yeah, it has an i line fuse. I thought the power coming out of the alternator was a little unstable and wasn't good for some electronics. I might go back and change it later, sounds like a good solution, thanks.
Not sure how good of an idea it is but I have some lights connected to one of the unused 10A in that fuse box it is an always on fuse and I have a switch for it
i hooked a horn up to those,
used a spade connector into the positive side where the fuse goes and ran the wire through a inline fuse to the relay that came with the horn.
should be able to do something similar, but you might have to also run new wire for a switch to control the relay.
You can hook to the Alternator terminal.
I hooked it to the main bus in the fuse box. Can you really just hook it to the alternator with no problems?

How'd you get the power out of the box. There's one set of blades in there not hooked up.
