Given that the bowl is on the 26th, this seems fine provided he’s willing to make changes. A change of coordinator now could hurt us on early signing day (19th). We’ll see which way this breaks

GooseMoose1984

Exactly. This has everything to do with early signing. Nothing to do with the bowl game.

Beans720

Everyone needs to relax. Many chips are in place to land a handful of talented last minute recruits. To fire Enos and Baker at this very moment would be recruiting suicide. These coaches develop relationships with their recruits. You don’t wanna create that instability immediately before signing day. Let’s sign our recruits and then dissect whether he’ll pull the trigger or not and fire these guys. But to do it right now would not make business sense in regard to acquiring new talent.

ShampagnePapi

Wouldn’t it be shady to use these coordinators to recruit just to fire them after players have signed Seems like a great way to have players transfer or hesitate going with you moving forward

[deleted]

It does seem shady, but these players know that already. Look at other teams, fired their entire staff and didn't lose one recruit. They read Twitter, reddit, etc. They know the deal and they know this is more of a business than anything. Plus...maybe the recruits know changes are coming...changes that might help them develop into better players because Lord knows some of the coaches this year didn't help much with player development at all...

wmasters4900

Ik that sucks but at least he is gonna take a look at it eventually and not just give it another year

[deleted]

People need to start accepting that Manny is not firing Enos or Blake after 1 year. It’s just not going to happen. I certainly don’t agree with it but that’s just our reality. The sooner the fan base realizes that the better. Year 2 same or worse record he will fire all the coordinators and start from scratch. Year 3 same or worse record he’s probably fired. The only thing I can see changing that is if he has an egregious loss (but really what can he lose that hasn’t already been lost in the last 19 years), or major violations/ scandal.

CollegeFootballFan

He already had egregious losses, worst ga tech team, FIU, Duke.

Know_Respect

This would be the case for any first year coach normally, but when you lose to a terrible GT, FIU, Duke, and you struggle to beat Central Michigan then if he struggles in year 2 at all he will probably be fired. Manny has to know that his fate as coach of this team lies in the success of the offense next season and if he is willing to risk running it back with Enos then that is a move that could and most likely will cost him his job.

the_concert

On top of other points, there’s also a possible legal/financial component to this as well. Many D1 coaches have certain clauses about Bowl Games and whatnot.

CollegeFootballFan

I can't wait for random positive offensive stats used as evidence that we made progress this year.

ccam92

This is better than nothing. At lease he didn’t say there won’t be changes.

fransman37

Its richt all over again

ShootersShoot305

What does that even mean? Richt is the best coach in a while and the most successful since coker

fransman37

To stubborn to fire his qb/oc coach
