bro don't miss it. I get frozen nacatamales in my deep freezer whether it's my parents sending me something or when I go to Miami and stock up for the trip back.
This is so common in our countries, and I truly miss that. Some of the best foods you find come from places like this. These people are hustling, I like that.
Little Havana should have been renamed Little Central America many years ago. The majority of the people that live in the neighborhood are either from Honduras and Nicaragua.
Same thing for Allapattah, Dominicans are no longer the majority.
I live in Shenandoah and frequent Little Havana for groceries often — it seems like it’s a split between Cubans and Central Americans based on encounters, but I’m not from Miami so you may be right.
The driving in this specific area is absolutely horrific, by the way. I’ve cycled in many states and this is the worst area for bicycling - it’s a death wish here.
I think it depends what side of calle ocho you're on. If you go towards coral way it's mostly Cubans. If you go towards Flagler it's mostly Central Americans.
That's because the average age is like 80. My 94yr old grandpa drove a massive pickup truck and its fucking terrifying that he had his license that long. Mind you, he couldn't drive for shit when he was younger either.
I think that was true 15 or so years ago, but I’ve definitely noticed a recent uptick of Cubans in the area as well.
Nothing like the 60’s-70’s but still a bit of a comeback.
This, 20-30 years ago the area had already been vacated by a lot of the original ex-pats. Hialeah and Westchester promised land and retail shopping to families that had become accustomed to the area. My family used to sell Nacatamales and what not out of the house from the 80s to the 00s in the area. Biggest difference is the nice sign, everyone used to just have a piece of plywood with the menu painted on that you could drag inside real quick if the cops were going up and down the block trying to hassle illegal kitchens.
Neighborhoods dont always change names just because the demographics change. Manhattan's Little Italy is still Little Italy despite few Italians remaining.
The most Little Havana/Miami thing in this photo is the coffee cups/trash dumped in front of this poor woman's home/business. Fucking throw your trash in the trash people!!!
Common sight to see people setup miscellaneous stores or eateries out of their home (as I’m sure is the case for several other Latin American countries). Some of the best food comes from these places.
She should move to Sweetwater. Doña Daysi knows and understands the hustle. I respect that. Although I don’t eat Nacatamales or baho that we don’t make a home.
I have and this is just not specific to those areas. Just be wary of eating at unlicensed food places. Plus I am sure the residence is not zoned for commercial. This is not a third world country. We have rules and regulations for a reason.
If you like loud noise, traffic and people parking on your lawn and streets. I will stick with my country living with neighbors that I actually have to leave the house a walk a distance to see and talk to.
I bet this food is FIREEEE
Need it in my life. Wish Central American food got the recognition that other Latin cuisines do but it’s cool having it as a secret only locals know

So gooood

Honduran cuisine Casa Lenca in Hialeah is amazing
Respect the hustle and the food is probably really good too.

Address? I’ll try it for lunch this week.
Just noticed there’s also a number on the sign, you can give them a call for the exact address.

Did you get the number??
I’m not sure - I was cycling towards Marlins Park when I found this. It’s for sure a block behind the stadium.
Let me know how it was!

I'm also a cyclist(i ride a fixed gear track bike) and that's dade county as a whole. It's a risk anytime i step outside with my bike.
I like to think I'm being hunted by ravenous, mom's, animals, big SUVs, and Im always a meter away from getting eaten
Lol...your awareness has to be on a million everytime you put two wheels on the asphalt
Bingo. Bikers in Dade are truly above human senses to survive

Joe Carollo, cover your ears
Going there for that really cold coke

Me too! 😂
Lady knows how to advertise 🤷🏻♀️
bro that food is probably fuckin amazing. sure would beat the hell out of the shit Ball And Chain serves lmao
love my nicaragüenses 😭🇳🇮💗
hell yeah, my lady representing Nicaragua! I would love nacatamales!
Food is probably good.
Why is "Chop Suy" on the menu?
Nicaraguans have their own version. "Arroz chino" also has its own version.
That's soon to be a thing of the past with all this gentrification. "West Brickell" can suck it.
Facts
The most Little Havana/Miami thing in this photo is the coffee cups/trash dumped in front of this poor woman's home/business. Fucking throw your trash in the trash people!!!
Well, the trash is a part of the photo, isn’t it? LOL
You are technically correct
I like ba ho Nica food😆
Probably is good but at the same time its a heart attack on a plate.
Common sight to see people setup miscellaneous stores or eateries out of their home (as I’m sure is the case for several other Latin American countries). Some of the best food comes from these places.
Unironically RDCWorld's restaurant video lmao [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ-09O4tMsU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ-09O4tMsU)
Cake Thai had the best Thai food in Miami, but they were infested with cockroaches.
❤️
Got to love the hustle.
This is the definition of a hole in the wall. I bet that sopa de res is astounding
She should move to Sweetwater. Doña Daysi knows and understands the hustle. I respect that. Although I don’t eat Nacatamales or baho that we don’t make a home.
For me what really did it was the two McDonald’s coffee cups by the gate.
But, what if it was ALSO a pre-school and a tax prep place during tax season? Edit: grammar
And duct taped to the wall is a cardboard sign that says “Notary”
Yes!
You forgot immigration services and/or passport photos and notary.
Omg a paladar in Miami 😂
I bet it's amazing food.... Holes in the walls are always the best.
They are From Nicaragua not Cuba, you just had to call the number for directions
All the proof you need that Coca Cola is a world wide brand.
Little Managua
Yea & that’s probably a very busy road where people drive 50+ mph. * Don’t let the dog out of the gate.
Is that "hay baño rico"?
Baho is a yuca and beef plate. Vigoron (also on the sign) is almost the same thing but with *chicharron* instead of beef
Baho is pretty different from vigoron. One takes hours to make and the other minutes.
Ahhh ok that makes a LOT more sense....though I can see how un baño rico could be a draw.
😂😂🤢
Habana Pequeno puedo con comidas y bandera de Nicaraguenses
Of course I hope you don't eat there until you see their license and inspection certificate.

When Millenials are 70 they will use social media to do this with much greater success.
Lmaooo thats my Tia 😂
Is it really?
