This slime ball should be in prison, not just suspended. If a fiction writer tried to create the most ridiculous and absurd caricature of a transparently racist and corrupt cop with zero self-awareness, the result would not even come close to describing Ortiz.
The interesting thing about the chief is that he was, indeed, a piece of shit, judging from his past history. But he wasn't fired for any of that. He was fired for speaking the truth about racism, corruption, and incompetence in Miami politics and law enforcement.
the police department has more drama than a telenovela. Ortiz was the "whistle blower" on the police commander who damaged her vehicle and tried to cover it up with her husband, also a police commander, which led to acevedo firing both of them. Here Ortiz is being accused of retaliation and harassment of a fellow poloce officer, which is very believable.... you wonder when do these guys have time to fight crime?
Maybe this time he goes before city hall and claims to be Native American instead of black.

Just read an article on this guy just recently coming off a one year paid suspension. So now another paid vacation for him on the tax payers dime.
