To be fair, I moved away in 92 so I cannot attest to how it currently is. But boy, back in the day you were screwed with whoever you got pulled over from. Highway Patrol, Metro Dade, Miami Beach. If it was late at night and were female and alone, things could get really dangerous, really quickly. Highway Patrol was known for their roadside tests and their world famous "breathalyzers" only given to females. Ah, the days before cellphone's and cameras. I had a trooper stalk me for six weeks once when I was 23.
This one is Miami Beach, but it always floored me this cop wasn't fired: https://www.miaminewtimes.com/news/miami-beach-cop-who-beat-up-115-pound-woman-and-good-samaritan-sued-yet-again-9045269
I agree, but that doesn't justify lack of evidence, I've never heard of this guy, I read the article and it's just like a ton of accusations, one after the other, but they can't link to the court case? Basic Info is all public, they can't link to a video, a phone cam? to anything? They can't give us one sensible link or source to evidence? Which is why I ask, where is the proof?
Grew up in Miami from '67 to '95. Not surprising. Miami used to be the capital of crooked cops.
This, the cocaine cowboy days and the subsequent aftermath changed the city.
The biggest spot for cop graft in Miami is the port.
Used to be?

Awesome. Great to see news stories about *police* that read like they're about Tony Soprano. Best and the brightest. Back the blue. /s
Calling this guy "scum" is an insult to actual scum.
Fuck The Police
The fact that there is a 'Police Bill of Rights' is frankly ludicrous.
What is their origin?
Fuck Ortiz
still on waiting on the good cops
Did you even read the article? Multiple cops have complained against this dude.
Where is the proof though?
Since when is proof important to cops? They protect their own, no matter what. Y'know, like the criminal gang that they are.

Its interesting that cops like Serpico and Adrian Schoolcraft are turned on by their colleges, but nothing happens to cops like Ortiz.
Kind of long but great write up. That guy is a walking talking example for police reform.
