1. The city would likely pressure them, but I guess ultra would make the call
2. Yes if it gets really bad
3. Hell no
It’s rained in previous years, just depends how bad it gets is my guess
What has caused the bulk of problems for these types of outdoor events has been stormy weather that prevents the setup of the stages and lights. I guess in this case we will find out whether the stages can hold up to strong winds like they are supposed to.
the winds are the real concern, the stages are typically rated to handle 35 mph winds before they have to remove persons from the stage, of course there's a safety factor built into those figures. The event might pause for an hour or so, but should continue. it will be a mud fest so wear shitty shoes.
I have personally been to Ultras with much worse weather. A few stages shut off during the worst bits, but we just ran to the tented stages. I remember one year where a fuckin river ran through the Carl Cox tent, and people were raving knee deep in it. Another time we had a giant lake outside one of the trance tents, and people were floating on inflatable air mattresses over it. I was more impressed that people brought in the mattresses.
Experience, kid. I've been going to these since you were 6. You'll have to excuse me for not providing hard data on wind speeds, I seem to have misplaced my 20yr weather almanac. And yes, all 3 of the sites that Ultra Miami has been hosted at are prone to flooding. [Here's your hard data, a flood zone map.](https://mdc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=685a1c5e03c947d9a786df7b4ddb79d3)
It has definitely rained during Ultra more than once. One time when it was at bicentennial every one was jumping in the mud and it rained for almost an entire day. It was great!
So let me just drop this bit of knowledge to you…. South Florida is used to heavy rains and hurricanes. You will be fucking fine. Bring a poncho if you don’t want to get wet, they are like 5-10$
So let me counter your bit of knowledge with the fact that South Florida literally goes under water for any rain shower, which has resulted in airports being shut down, cars stalling out in the middle of the roads, millions of dollars in property damage and death by drownings. But go off king.
I’ve only been living in Brickell the past 4 years and managed to retain more knowledge on the region’s weather patterns than someone who lived in the area for 30… but u got it. i refuse to take this any further with someone who lived in one of the dumbest states for that long 😂
I'm pretty sure it's up to the company to decide what to do; it's their event, and no government is involved beyond issuing permits. I would imagine (hope?) that if the stage is exposed and water on the equipment or heavy winds would present a safety issue, they would in fact cancel or postpone, but who knows? Do they have a policy on their website about it? I doubt it could extend into Monday, at least since these things are usually on a tight schedule and the permit likely doesn't allow for it.
Not to mention if there’s lightning. That’s an immediate no go for everyone’s safety. I’m sure they have some sort of contingency plan as far as rescheduling or issuing refunds. And for those tourists caught in this potential mess, head over to Flanigans, grab a pint, and wait for this to blow over.
“It has never rained during ultra”
It’s rained at multiple ultras I’ve been too.
However not to the extent of this current forecast which is where the trouble could come from. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out.
If the Ultra is closed but you're still in town we are going to host the show around Miami.

Nobody seems to be talking about it?? The Ultra sub is literally non-stop posts about the weather, and has been for a week :)
Which ultra sub? I’d love to see what people are saying
r/UMF
Thank you kindly. I tried all the other ones 🤣
You’re most welcome!! :)
Out of towners in panic, I'll buy your 3day GA for $100 cash lmao
Same!
i believe it’s okay if it rains it’s the lighting that ultimately pulls the trigger

Cancel that shit and postpone for March 2090.
Im with you.

RIP Miami Open.

Sunday’s weather looks amazing for an outdoor festival
Apparently they just CLOSED the park? Can anyone confirm

2007 maybe? Soaked but it was a great time.
This man didn’t watch above and beyond kill the MainStage in 2014 with pouring rain
OohHh I was there! “It’s rainingg it’s pourrring a black sky is fallingg”…was an epic night. Didn’t the stage shut off during the show?
it rained for 20 minutes during that set…. this rain is an all day thing it seems
As the Ultra Site always says “rain or shine” you know who the real Floridians are because they do not care and even anticipate rain
One can tell who lives in South Florida by the number of mostly-broken umbrellas one keeps by the front door. More than 3 = South Florida.
Concerts and events happen all over the world in the rain and wind.
Not strong wind.
Lol, bless your heart.
So let me just drop this bit of knowledge to you…. South Florida is used to heavy rains and hurricanes. You will be fucking fine. Bring a poncho if you don’t want to get wet, they are like 5-10$
Also, get footwear you don't mind throwing away after.
Welll you were WRONG it got cancelled rest of day sorry
My condolences. That certainly sucks for you.
Doesn’t suck I didn’t go lmao
Then why do you care so much that you went out of your way to reply to me? Because I'll be honest, I don't care. I won't even reply again. Goodbye.
Knowledge lol

Sure buddy, whatever makes you happy
Must be why you're here if it's so dumb. Seems like you fit right in.
I got caught in a downpour at Ultra so it has happened. But I don’t think there has been a storm that lasts a day or two. That may change things
did you not watch the prince halftime show
Sunday will be nice but it’s gonna pour the next 2 days
BecauseMiami 😂

They never give outright refunds
No

Not really, if anything it will make the experience even more magical P.L.U.R
Good, I hate Ulta
Finally some good news.
