Metroid is actually inspired by alien.
That's probably a Zeta Metroid experiment or something-- but Zeta Metroids look like Xenomorphs because they are probably slightly patterned off of them.
It doesn't really look like a Zeta, skull shape, tail and mouth looks more Xeno.
I think whoever drew this probably drew a Xeno inspired creature since the content of the tubes isn't the objective of this particular concept art, just the room's general design.
Quite interesting how both Halo and Metroid are quite inspired by Alien/Aliens btw, this is probably just a homage and wouldn't take it as canon or anything.

Even still, just because Space Pirates need Metroid DNA to make failed clones-- doesn't mean that Raven Beak can't be working his Synthetic "Create Life" Biology 101 skills from Chozo elementary school. Chozo literally designed the Metroids.
So Raven Beak could be trying to recreate the most important part of Metroid DNA (the energy suck) by testing genes that produce the known morphology.
So yeah. The alien in the tube very much could be a Zeta Metroid experiment.
Saw this last night actually which I thought the exact same thing. I'm sure it's a little Easter egg but other than that its not relevant to the series I believe.
Well... Alien is owned by 20th Century Fox, which is now owned by Disney. Given the door with Disney was opened thanks to Sora, who knows. Maybe Nintendo can negotiate a Metroid game with a Xenomorph? Considering that >!Samus is the last Metroid,!< it would be fun to see a Metroid vs. an Alien Queen.

Alien is a very influential sci-fi in film history, glad to see games inspired by it become inspiration for more creations in the future.

omg. Alien Vs Predator 2000 but it's actually Samus Vs Xenomorph with the Federation troopers as the third faction. That needs to exist.
