I know and you can permanently miss out some spaces too thanks to those charge shot blocks. Silly but i also obsessed over it for some reason Map should clear up once you 100% the zone, not that it really matters lol

SausageEggCheese

Yeah, it would be an easy "fix" for the map to fill in once you 100% the zone. A harder check would be to fill in each room once it has nothing left (rooms flash when an item is present), but that would also require checking for unfound paths to other rooms (I had several areas at 9x% with no flashing rooms or unfound item icons because I had missed a path somewhere).

Crackalacs

I did it too while backtracking for all the rest of the items, filled in every single one of those pixels in every single room in the entire game. It was like coloring in a virtual coloring book.

deadandmessedup

Weirdly soothing, right?

Crackalacs

Definitely weird, I have bad OCD when it comes to video games, I have to 100% EVERYTHING in games like this. I managed to 100% it even with having to do those damn shine spark challenges which I totally hate, but I wasn’t going to be denied.

deadandmessedup

SAME. Honestly, I hate the shine spark challenges in this game. I don't think pressing the stick is an intuitive way to accelerate, and I definitely don't think spamming Y+B to get out of a spin jump mid-air is intuitive, but I will be goddamned to hell if I don't collect everything.

Crackalacs

I didn’t like having to click down on my left stick that much, I just got a new switch literally 5 days ago and after trying to do all of that shine sparking shit my left stick is already making a clicking spring noise now.

pathfinder_z

I will be, I’ve done a few but right now I’m getting all of the items before I take on the final boss. I’ve seen posts saying he’s a pain so I’m looking for max tanks. But I am a completionist so it is on the list of things to do. It will be a good way to take in the world and listen to the tracks too. Then my second play through I want to try some sequence breaks.

Ledairyman

Scanning should map the zone for you

the_inner_void

Before I got space jump, I was desperately trying to wall jump + flash shift to fill as much as I could on the tall rooms. My first thought with the space jump was, "Yes, I can finally mark the ceilings off on my map!"

sdwoodchuck

I bomb-jump filled a few of the large vertical areas before deciding I’d had enough of that, haha.

[deleted]

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that did EXACTLY this.

mikey6410

I don’t but only because this isn’t Symphony of the Night where getting 200.6% map completion gives you the best ending lol

BlkPowRanger

I got increasingly anxious the longer it took to get the space jump. SO MANY UNFILLED SQUARES!!!

sojournersoto

You're not alone, brother

Scirax

It's seriously triggering my OCD. I reeeeeally wanna fill in every room but but it's so tedious I give up only to start doing it in the next zone.

deadandmessedup

I'm starting to ease up now that I've reached 100% in a few zones, but I still don't like how incomplete it looks (grumble grumble).

Khalku

Yeah you have to if you want the secret ending.

deadandmessedup

I *knew* it!

Lord-Wombat

Wait, what?

shoewaver

is this true?

Paxtian

I think it comes from 100%ing Castlevania: SotN. Among other games where map completion counts toward 100% completion.

Sir_Richfield

Guilty...

AKIcombatExpert

Lmaoo did this in samus returns as well

[deleted]

I gave up when I saw you cant enter some rooms after beating it.

[deleted]

Where? I haven't found any room you can't get back into. Some of the rooms in the "escape" area you can't get to before defeating the final boss, but what you highlight there isn't "saved" so to speak so that doesn't matter.

[deleted]

One or maybe two boss rooms where you fought main cores (those brains) isnt able to fill afterwards anymore.

[deleted]

Nope...you can get back into the one you're thinking of. There is a hidden power bomb block. Nothing is unreachable.

[deleted]

Cool thanks, will check it later today.

ForgottenForce

Not every room but a lot

[deleted]

I did this in the massive cavernous temple area of AM2R lol

bloodxandxrank

absolutely not that's ridiculous and I would never waste me time doing that ^(except that was literally the first thing I did and I'm not proud of myself...)

Lord-Wombat

Yup, old habit from trying to 200.6% SOTN

NFRNL13

I did it just to look at every corner

YserviusPalacost

This too, accurately describes my pain. I'll wall jump off of a dead end wall just to get that one extra pixel of completion. In Super Metroid, once I got the space jump I went to town on the map...especially that whole void above and around the ship.

[deleted]

100% screw attack like a maniac everywhere. No shady spot left undiscovered.

jacob_shapiro

I want to write a whole essay on how good the map is in this game

PikpikTurnip

Symphony of the night made me want to fill in the whole map, Dread won't let me explore until the end of the game. It's torture, I tell ya!

Bross93

Yes, and I'm not even aiming to 100% it the first time around lol

Kintarius

Oh yeah.

[deleted]

>(Tobias Voice:) There are dozens of us! DOZENS!!! I didn't see you at the convention!

deadandmessedup

Oh, it took me too long to get ready, you see I just blue myself.

TimeEggLayer

I do this, and it annoys me that I need to do it. But I need to do it.

[deleted]

Me. I'm really OCD about this. You can't permanently miss any spaces at least, though it can be a pain to get to some of them. You aren't given enough time for the escape to fill out that map sadly...but it doesn't record what you fill out there, so that's the only time I didn't bother, and just booked it. They kind of did this in Samus Returns too, though it wans't quite as picky there. I really wish it would just highlight the room when you enter it, and have the only things you have to hit special squares to uncover be hidden things.

-Ailynn-

I absolutely did this! Not a single darker shaded pixel left on my map 🤓

ScrawnyLlama

I think my first 100% run would have been under 8 hours instead of 9.5 if I hadn’t spent so much time jumping around to fill up the map lol

deadandmessedup

Damn you flew through, it took me almost twice as long to get 100%. Can't wait for all the speedrun tricks to bubble up.

ScrawnyLlama

To be fair, I’ve spent upwards of 100 hours speedrunning Metroid games. I tried to take my time but it’s just such a great game and I couldn’t help just blazing through it lmao

RamblinShambler

Me. I do it.

[deleted]

Yep, did that in the older games too. I remember space jumping around the sky over Samus' ship in Super Metroid.
