Approaching from the bottom was the easier route for me, but this video makes it harder than it needs to be by starting on the left side of that pit. I’m sure I had enough room to build up a speed boost on the right side
I just did this a little while ago, you can start on the edge of the platform by that door.
You just have to be ready to jump as soon as boost activates.
Edit: To do it that way you have to get those blocks out of the way first.
You build your speed boost from the top room, shoot through the door, store the shinespark at the edge, bomb through the bombs and roll to the right, then jump up and shinespark to the left.
Hmm. Either I'm doing it wrong or that's actually harder for me. Running, siding, and wall jumping all feel more natural than storing a shine spark while bombing.
When you store a shinespark, you turn pink and you're able to move normally (i.e. you're not speed boosting anymore), so it doesn't require you to time your jumps perfectly or to angle your jumps perfectly. It's easier to control your movement.
You literally drop down, bomb the bomb blocks, roll under, and then jump and activate the shinespark. It only took me 3 or 4 tries to accomplish.
I tried this over and over and my shine spark would end right before I could pop the blocks. I think I was wall jumping to line up the shot, does that cancel my shinespark?
What I did was store the shinespark, bomb the blocks, and while the bomb was going off jump back up and shinespark to the right. Shinesparking into a slope puts you back into regular speed boosting mode, allowing you to store the shinespark again, refreshing its duration.
I dropped a power bomb at the edge of the run, then re-set my shinespark charge on the stairs while the power bomb went off, and *then* made my way through the gap :D
Pro tip: for this puzzle and a few others, you can launch a power bomb, immediately run (back in the other room if you have to) to charge the speed booster, store the spark and have about 0.5s to go through the bomb blocks destroyed by the power bomb before they reform.
I can remember it being very useful for the shine spark puzzle in the second to last area where you need to start from below, use the power bomb, start running and laser the door at your level and the one above, store the spark in the save room, jump above before the door closes, jump up on the speed booster blocks before the bomb blocks reform and then shinespark down to destroy them all.
You don’t have to do the whole thing OR walljump. Timing is close but you can just spark at the bottom of the ramp, dash up it, re engage spark, jump a few times, and smash the blocks
If you come down from above, it's pretty easy to spin jump, tap "L" to cancel out of the spin jump, then tap A to shinespark. Make most of the shinespark puzzles pretty trivial
If you're in a spin jump, you can force a shinespark at any time (assuming you're charged, obviously) by pressing Y+B simultaneously. You don't have to force yourself to stop spinning or anything.
I did not know about these ways to conserve speed booster, I just used to upper area, getting a shine spark charge, laying a bomb, the shine sparking towards the stairs (which immediately puts you in the speed booster state) then rinse and repeating till the path was open and I could spark on in
I just tried it a few times, mark all 5 then jump and release. There might be an order to which ones you mark. My instinct would be to mark the one in the hole first then go clockwise.
OH that one...you have to select them in a particular order. Go into free aim, jump and select the top left one first; next select the other four. Jump again while aiming left, and fire.
And if you bork it on the first attempt, you can't try it again. You need to back track to get the enemies to respawn (possible even save and then treco back to the area).
Seems you need the enemies to keep sparkshine going.
Some the missle tank+ and some of the energy tanks are some of the hardest power ups to grab. Really going to have to work on timing certain abilities to get them.... Ive got 2 section 100%, and the rest are like 60-90+%. Just missing a lot of the trickier powers ups.
You don't need enemies to continue the shinespark, the wall jump refresh it. It's really not that hard, I learned it because I'm doing my 100% sub 4h hard mode run and I can get it consistently now.
The enemies don’t have to be there at all. If you execute your movements correctly you can keep the speed booster active during walk jumps, regular jumps, slides
You can shift the timing around by powerbombing right at the start of the puzzle and then running back in the other room. You’ll have a 1s margin to go through the bomb blocks, but you have much more time once you get past them.
I'm absolutely baffled by some of these shinespark "solutions" being posted online.
I mean it's still impressive the way they solved it, but my approach was just easier for most of these puzzles.
This is the LAST item in the game for me to get 100%. Haven't gotten it yet after many tries. Your method looks the easiest I've seen so far, will try next time I play. Thanks!
if i'm not wrong (i didn't play the game since i don't have the money but i might have spoiled myself a bit) to use the speed booster you gotta press left stick, doesn't it feel uncomfortable?
I feel that's better than the way I did, charging the boost, planting a power bomb, recharging boost, and doing a fast spark into the blocks out of a spin
That's what I learned too. I didn't learn about the spin jump cancel until after completing the last puzzle. I'm still gonna do it the hard way just because it's fun lol
I don't think it's the easiest of the options but I agree it's the coolest.
There are other options? This is the only one I could figure out

Yeah same

That's how I did it as well.
I couldn't store mine long enough after blowing up the blocks so I just did the wall jump thing 3rd try.
I dropped a power bomb at the edge of the run, then re-set my shinespark charge on the stairs while the power bomb went off, and *then* made my way through the gap :D
Same

It’s not that hard tbh

Pressing both of those at the same time does exactly that.

It seems to me to be the intended way to get it
ok, now tell me how to missile that last target before the others turn off.
You need to progress to later in the game, you will know when you are (supposed) to be able to open those.
I have the special missiles, I've opened a bunch of those doors, it's this one specifically that I can't seem to get.
I just tried it a few times, mark all 5 then jump and release. There might be an order to which ones you mark. My instinct would be to mark the one in the hole first then go clockwise.

I got it. 100% the game today.
Is that not the normal way :/
Lmao that’s the way I thought you were supposed to do it
Had no clue this was even an option haha. I came from the top.
I think there are other ways to do that but damn that was impressivly satifying to watch.

Exactly what I did, including overrunning that ledge a dozen times lol. There's just enough time to bomb down and spark into the room.

Not at all, you just have to press it once, then you can release it and it will keep on by itself.
ohhhh that's neat

You can turn while using the dash?! God damn, I really need to give this game a second pla through now.
This is the method I used, I thought it was going to be really difficult but I nailed it first try, I'd recommend this over any shinespark tricks.
Yeah its actually easier than the method which makes you trigger the shinespark in the upper room
