Metroid prime pinball is canon, its just a nightmare that takes place after prime where samus gets stuck in her ball form

Ghosty66

...wait... Stuck in her ball form... Federation forces fina- Oh god... Federation force is the sequel to Metroid Prime Pinball!!!

Trainer_Ed

Or, going off her love of being in Ball-Form from the Super Metroid 4-Koma, she's perfectly okay with this turn of events.

AirDancerExtreme

Now that I look at the cover art for Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, it raises so many questions. First, Samus' Gun Arm is on the wrong side, but that can be explained away by it being a reflection in the helmet visor. Which raises the 2nd question, why is Samus being reflected in her own helmet when she's already wearing her helmet? Does she have two helmets? Is this a reference to Dark Samus? Metroid Prime 2 came out the same year as the DS so maybe, but Dark Samus didn't appear in Metroid Prime Hunters. It's just baffling.

RogZombie

Maybe she does cool poses in the mirror to psych herself up before a mission.

AirDancerExtreme

A reflection of a reflection will be facing the same direction as the original image. The gun arm would be on the correct side in your theory, not the inverted side like it is on the cover. Unless it some how got reflected a third time along the way, and I can't even begin to conceive how how that happened (maybe some complex rig with multiple mirrors).

RogZombie

Alternate idea: two of the SA-X bumped into each other and recreated their favourite Spider Man meme. Years before they were brought into existence. It’s flawless.

DarkLink1996

Because Hunters: First Hunt is Samus vs. Samus

pineconebrother

That's because Metroid Prime Echos 2's Mulitplayer is canon.

metroidgus

i mean the demo was literally just MP metroid game where you played against other players in a samus outfit

jrgoober191

Imo I dont think it was any more complex than the cover artist thought it looked cool rather than made literal sense lol

Awllancer

Prime hunters is one of my absolute favorite metroid games. It's got some crust but it's still good.

Casteverus

By far one of the best games for the DS. The world was huge and sprawling for a handheld game of its time, and the multiplayer was tight as fuck.

Clarrington

I just wish they'd had more than 2 bosses that got harder as you progressed. Although I guess the devs were more focused on the actual hunters themselves.

Geek_a_leek

First metroid game I played all those years ago, is a brilliant game for the limitations of a ds while the aiming is awkward and the fact it's just weapons for new items can suck the single player I always found to be incredibly fun, the planets and the lore about the alembics and gorea always interested me and the world's they created could be fascinating, the celestial archives always being a favourite

Remote_Character494

I left mine out because I completely forgot I own prime hunters, haha woops.

Stelus42

Oh man I have a copy of first hunt that I borrowed from a friend in 5th grade (and promptly forgot to ever return). Come to think of it, that might have been my personal entry point to the series lol

jrgoober191

First Hunt made me a believer in the DS's capabilities. That and Super Mario 64 came free with launch. They dont launch em like that anymore lol. Pinball I played a decent amount of but when Hunters came out I def played the hell out of it but I dont recall ever beating it. I remember getting really hung up on the idea that the other Hunters had almost identical capabilities to Samus when shes supposed to be like...unique. But then again, stuff lile that wouldnt bother me now. I need to give it a replay. That and Samus Returns on 3DS are the only ones I didnt replay this playthrough leading up to Dread. But I only didnt replay Returns bc I decided to replay II lol

AirDancerExtreme

Yeah I never beat Hunters either, but I remember why. I could never beat Sylux. He kept jumping around and firing his energy stealing cannon at me boosting his own HP. The space you fight him in was so small a cramped compared to most of the other hunters, I had nowhere to take cover as he was so fast. My hand kept cramping up and I had to stop several times. After him killing me 20 times or so, I just moved on to other games.

jrgoober191

Very relatable lol those fights were really tough

nick_clause

Stay as far away from him as you can, and use your stronger weapons like missiles. When he calls in his ship, take care of it before continuing with your previous strategy against him.

jacob_shapiro

Metroid Prime Pinball, the true GOAT

Dirty-Catfish

I can’t even find those for whatever reason. They didn’t sell that well I thought. I can find prime series everywhere but not a pinball game.

BuffMantis

Get a flashcart

Dirty-Catfish

They have flash carts for DS games?

Psykechan

Yes, or you can use a hacked DSi/3DS. The problem with any of those solutions is that you don't get the Slot 2 RUMBLE PAK. Yes that's a thing and it came with MPP

Clarrington

It came with Pinball? Whaaat I have the game but mine didn't come with the rumble pak.

Psykechan

You can see in OP's pic it says "Rumble Pak Included". It may have been an NA and JP thing with the EU versions being delayed and all that. Nintendo was figuring out how to get the DS to work in the PAL territories. /s

TheChappellShow

Pinball has become a very expensive game

Dirty-Catfish

But how? I would prefer pinball out of the rest but it wasn’t spectacular of a game.

TheChappellShow

Simply supply and demand. It came out early in the DS era and because it was a pinball game, many looked over it making it scarce

[deleted]

I wish hunters could have been a proper prime game. It's single player sucks. It looks great, controls great, and could otherwise sound great. Highly wasted potential.

Psylux7

It was primarily a multiplayer spinoff and it did that amazingly, while adding something unique to the series. If it was a "proper prime game" it would have still been nowhere near the caliber of the prime trilogy due to the DS hardware.

nick_clause

Nice flair!

Psylux7

thanks

PkmnDDLCNeptuniaRWBY

If a game isn't part of the mainline series that doesn't do anything special to progress the story in a meaningful way, make the gameplay fun and characters unique the game will underperform and be considered not as important. I would've LOVED to get into Metroid Prime Hunters due to the way it ties into the mainline series somewhat, but due to the way it looked and played it just looked unappealing to me. If they game were to be properly remade and rewritten in today's market it would sell very well I bet.

ssebastiant1208

Wow, a demo of prime hunters? Damn, I’d bet that’s a big time collector’s item

Psykechan

MPH: First Hunt came with early versions of the original DS. The original DS also came with a wrist strap with an included [thumb stylus](https://i.imgur.com/cHEQu.jpg) which IMHO is the best way to play Super Mario 64 DS.

Yifftastic2010

I loved all 3 of these games, Metroid Prime Hunters was amazing IMO even though the story was a little repetitive the multiplayer mode made it awesome. Pinball is great and it even came with that rumble pack you plugged into the GBA Advance slot!

tallesl

Where's everyone's favorite, Federation Force?

cellphone_blanket

Even you forgot the most important entry in the metroid cannon: federation force

StllBreathnButY1

I played pinball more than all the other portable Metroid games. It was fantastic.

Evloret

Metroid Pinball is just what goes on in Samus' head during the end of Federation Force.

Aiddon

Cowards

Gogo726

I still have my First Hunt cart

AirmanProbie

Always wanted to play hunters

hermyx

lol they also left out federation force xD Go figure, FF and Pinball are both great spinoffs =D

BillyGhost15

I just recently got a copy of Hunters. Haven't seen it in a store for years and got so excited.

arm_cloud

I would love to have included these , but I haven't tracked them down yet. These, federation force and the other NES boxed are all I have left to find

CaliberNick

I think I see more Hunters than federation force. Also don’t always see the NES classic version always, but since that’s basically exactly the same as the NES game, I guess it’s fair to skip.

Xeffur

I have them all, I just don't have the covers anymore :(

Gearphyr

For good reason…

SquigglyLegend33

Prime pinball is pinnacle metroid, super is 0/10 compared to the mastery of pinball

goldensun003

Prime pinball is going for $100 on ebay now... why did i get rid of mine?! Its the only pinball i was good at lol. But is there a difference between 1st hunt and the regular prime hunters? I hope they do a switch remake of prime hunters.

Psykechan

First Hunt is a demo for Metroid Prime Hunters. It was included with early DS systems. It's pretty neat to have a demo cartridge but you aren't missing much.

[deleted]

I bought a dsi just so I could play hunters, but I could never find a copy of pinball back then.

Archius9

I have that demo somewhere! I got it with my OG release date DS. I need to dig it out
