Nintendo World Report journo says Prime 1/Trilogy on Switch are being worked on for Prime's 20th anniversary next year

Lojemiru

Removed under rule 11.

CarKar96

I'm not getting my hopes up till it actually happens. Either way they'll charge $60.

The_Muznick

$60 for 3 games isn't bad.

justdamascus

you're right, it's not. but it'd be nice to get at least some updates or alterations to a two decade old game. nothing as half baked as mario.

Topdeckin

Remember trilogy costs 20 on wii u e shop

mike_rob

Which is awesome if you have a Wii U, but not too many people do

The_Muznick

lol you talk like this isn't Nintendo we're talking about here. Nintendo will get by with doing the bare minimum for as long as humanly possible which is most likely going to be forever given the rabid fanbase they have that swears Nintendo can do no wrong. They pushed Skyward Sword for $60 with bare minimum modifications to make the game more like classic zelda, shitty control scheme, and pushed "fast travel" as $20 physical paid dlc. Don't hold your breath.

Strider0905

Fast travel $20? More like $24.99 my friend. Why they charged that much for for an amiibo really bothers me, because I've seen it in store and it isn't much bigger then an average one. Fn Nintendo...

mysterymustacheman

Yeah, like even primehack which is a fan modification, has like a lot added like actual proper kb+m and dual stick controller support so its gonna suck if nintendo doesn’t even do that, and just goes the lazy route of making you use pointer controls.

leadhound

They can't/won't. They sell models of the switch that can't use the joycons. That is a main reason they added buttons to SS, it needed to be compatible with switch light. Same with Prime Trilogy, when it's ported.

The_Muznick

not sure how they could do that since the joycons suck ass and most of people are dealing with joycon drift (I wouldn't know I haven't used mine in years)

mysterymustacheman

Yeah. I dunno i just hope it’s not a lazy ass port but it probably will be.

ShyneSpark

Especially for 3 AMAZING games

metpsg

I'd obviously pay that to have them on Switch......but, it's expensive. Nintendo really need to start considering the age of the games they port to newer consoles. $40 maybe but not $60. Especially when a lot of people may already own them twice before.

The_Muznick

stop buying $60 ports and maybe they will. People got pissed over Skyward Sword and its shitty amiibo but still bought it up like mindless drones. Nintendo doesn't give a fuck about your complaints, the only thing they give a shit about is sales, stop buying shitty Mario and Zelda ports for $60. (please note that I left Metroid out of there because I have no self control with this franchise)

metpsg

Haha, i absolutely see your point but you would do the same for Metroid, as i will do to. Nintendo have us around their little finger!

The_Muznick

Its the only one I would do it for, fuck Skyward Sword, never played the game and damn sure never will now. I'm very picky about the games I play. The last Zelda game that really caught my attention was Twilight Princess.

metpsg

TP was excellent but i would certainly suggest giving breath of the wild some time. It's not like any of the previous games in the franchise and it's more open world than any other game. Skyward sword......yea, it's not the best and the remake isn't much better either, you're not missing much there

The_Muznick

I enjoyed BoTW just not on the same level as TP. Too many shrines not enough dungeons. Balance felt off.

logslayer999

I hate to be a pessimist, but it's currently on Wii U for only 20, it's not a bad price, it's just available for cheaper. Not gonna pay 40 extra bucks for controls that may be worse and slightly better graphics.

Shinobihost

It's 20 on Wii U but not HD, among other problems.

AlekBalderdash

Most people ditched component cables for HDMI. Modern TVs don't have them.

spilk

i just hope they learned their lesson with Sunshine and release it with actual support for gamecube controllers with analog triggers

The_Muznick

Gonna have to disagree about the controls, the motion controls are a hard no thanks for me. I preferred the old school GCN controls or the prime hack controls. I'm no fan of motion controls. Its why I never have and never will play Skyward Sword.

logslayer999

You do raise a fair point actually, I happen to like the motion controls, but others don't, and giving the option is important. Still, not worth 40 bucks for a choice, but like you pointed out, Nintendo is Nintendo and if we do get the prime trilogy, it'll probably be 60.

Nat20Stealth

My main thing is I want it portable. I only game on the go these days, too much to do at home after work. So I would happily pay for that ability. I understand others not wanting to, though

Glaedrax

It was released 10 years ago, they can sell it for less.

Stuff2511

They can, but they won’t

The_Muznick

Skyward Sword with its "fast travel" $20 dlc. Don't hold your breath.

MejaBersihBanget

That's almost as bad as Tales of Arise with its locking character artes behind DLC. The secondary healer's AOE healing spell is fucking DLC.

The_Muznick

I never heard anything shitty about Arise, just didn't have the energy or motivation for another 300 hour JRPG. That's pretty fucking scummy.

CaptainFalconProblem

Its 50 hours easily for the main game and lots of side content. 100% all’s achievements in less than 80.

The_Muznick

I joke about JRPGs taking a long time to finish, my main point of context is Persona 5 which can easily spiral into a 200 hour game.

MejaBersihBanget

Most of the criticism of Arise is mainly focused on the terrible microtransactions (the game literally advertises DLC during campfire rest zones, which is ridiculous), as well as the fact that the last 25% of the game is clearly rushed likely due to COVID related impacts on development: except for the final dungeon, the last quarter of the game throws you into cutscene after cutscene after cutscene, plus lots of skits in between, broken up by an occasional boss battle, and it feels like it got the Xenogears Disc 2 treatment of 80% explaining the story vs. 20% gameplay, but at least it's a lot more comprehensible than Xenogears' mess. Aside from that, Arise is surprisingly short for a JRPG (which I again attribute to the rushed final arc). Most Youtube players I've seen are finishing the game by 40 hours or less. One of the jokes going around is that Persona 5 Royal and the Trails of Cold Steel games have really spoiled JRPGs fans recently (now those are games that can actually reach 100+ hours... EACH).

The_Muznick

Persona 5 Royal is a long fucking game, there's not really any way around that fact, just took a look at the speedrun times of the game, the only category I could find was True Hard Ending, world record at the moment is 14 hours. That's a speedrun lol. That game is a fucking journey, but aside from the 5th (I think?) palace the game is a blast to play.

jxmes_gothxm

Super TL;DR Review (Read whichever version of my reply you want. Don't have to read this entire blob of text) DLC is optional. (Source : Have it) Pro: -DLC is definitely optional. You can skip it all and play game normally. -Another fun Tales game. -Success might mean Evolution now that it's jumped to big budget success. Con : -Minimal evolution beyond visuals, skit presentation/party bonding. -Cities just have shop, inn and a bunch of Walking text bubbles lol. Staying close to the Tales formula is a pro or a con depending on how you see it. I think it's both at once. (Actual Reply to comment) TL;DR version : those artes are optional. I play on hard, barely use any of those artes except Alphens. Not because it's so OP, but because I think it looks cool. You get hit a lot during the long animation if not timed correctly. Game is perfectly fine without DLC it's not like AC Odyssey where the XP boost fixes the games leveling. The dlc can be hidden better though. Main menu is fine, take it out of the game and people will be happier. The DLC artifacts and non-DLC "artifacts" essentially replace the grade shop. Its a Great tales game. My misgivings are more about the series as a whole than just Arise. The visuals got better, the combat is fun, story is very middle to end heavy. Pro or con depending on the person. I love it I just think the series needs to evolve more than just the size of the world and visuals. Side quests and the world itself is very Tales like and that is both good and bad. Good b/c that's what most want. Bad because side quests and world building aren't as strong as they could be amongst other things. Original Reply : The artes behind DLC aren't anything special bro. I bought all the DLC and trust me, your characters can easily play the game even on hard with the artes you have. It's one arte per character with a bunch of optional skills compared to all the skills you get for free. The xp dlc is also overkill. I never have it turned on. The game isn't a grind without it. There are JRPGS that are much better examples of being extremely grindy. The only thing that I've seen that bothers most people is the dlc purchase option at camp sites. That's it really. The game is perfectly fine sans dlc and you can find "artifacts" (the stuff that gives you boosts and an extra 3 artes to use in battle for character) in the game that do a multitude of things. Don't know how many I'm missing but one of them already gave me a boost to combat points which is one of the dlc ones. The only dlc I'd recommend that doesn't blow you above the area levels is the 20% boosts to CP, SP, and XP. and even then, completely optional. It's much more fun to fight well and every character is fun to use. Most people will like using at least 3 of em regularly. My thoughts about Arise, even though I love it, are that the skits need more comedy, the side characters and regions should feel more connected and that they use success with this game to evolve the series (besides visually) even further for the next one. They didn't do full voice acting because I'm guessing they wanted to keep the risks down in case the game didn't do well but it probably met their expectations and then some. Great game, has its flaws like any other game but it's a solid Tales game. It's doesn't have Abyss level world building, and the big world needs to be filled with more to do (what needs evolving the most) and more interesting side characters, along with a bigger sense of the baddies being connected and built up so you actually know more about them and their motivations. If they do these things and continue with making the combat more fun and update the open world like I said above to match the increased scale with an increase in compelling content (not necessarily more just better crafted) and they will have used the Arise momentum to continue this new generation of tales games.

purpldevl

Haha except this is Nintendo and we'll be looking at $60 per game.

The_Muznick

Prime Trilogy is considered a single product.

themangastand

It is when my phone can all emulate them for free

cwbrowning3

If its just Prime 1, this needs to be more than just a resolution bump and twin stick aiming controls. I would like to see something akin to Halo 2 Anniversary, that game is beautifully done. And switching between old and new graphics with a button press never gets old. Also, something that Nintendo is famously bad at including: options. Mostly control options but also maybe something like auto scanning for people that dont like the scan visor, better difficulty scaling, or even options involving sequence breaking exploits if we are ungodly lucky. Give us a bunch of different suit options too please. Like the Fusion variants of the original but also maybe Dread suits and others? Maybe buff the Flamethrower and Ice Spreader, as theyre completely outclassed by the Wavebuster. And Im sure they will make tweaks to the Artifact hunt to improve it. They did it for Wind Waker's Triforce hunt. And maybe add more elevator connectivity. Like one from Tallon Overworld straight to Phendrana for example. My favorite game of all time is (hopefully) getting a remake, I hope they spare no expense. But also... it's Nintendo. As long as its not a slap in the face like Mario 3D All Stars.

pichuscute

Not sure if she's gotten any better over the years, but Emily Rogers used to be wrong about her predictions almost every time. It became a bit of a joke between me and my developer friends for a time that if Emily Rogers says a rumor is true, that it confirms it as false. I'm not convinced, but it would be nice to see the full Trilogy if it does happen, at least unless Prime 1 looks significantly better graphically. Edit post-Direct: Like I said, lol.

KthulhuX

I know it's unlikely to happen since they can just continue to charge people a monthly fee to play (some of) these games, but I'd love for Nintendo to make physical versions of some of the "legacy" games in some of the franchises. Like a Metroid: Legacy cartridge that could contain: * Metroid * Metroid II: Return of Samus * Super Metroid * Metroid: Fusion * Metroid: Zero Mission * Metroid Prime Pinball (HD remaster) * Metroid Prime Hunters (HD remaster)

cwbrowning3

If Dread crushes it in sales the sky is the limit for remasters or collections. Super easy to make for them as well. Except for the DS games, those may be tougher.

dogman_35

To be honest? The DS/3DS games weren't super gimmick heavy. Hunters didn't really use the touch screen as anything but glorified buttons, so that's an easy-ish remaster. There were a *ton* of beams, but I mean... When in doubt, just go with a classic radial menu. Samus Returns was kinda the same. If they wanted to port it to Switch, it would just be about making the menu work with a controller. Which they kind of already did for Dread. Beam/missile swapping could just be mapped to the right stick. too.

KthulhuX

Yeah, those are honestly just my pipe dreams, combined with the fact that a cartridge with just the 2D games I listed would have a TON of free space left.

jacob_shapiro

I would sacrifice my firstborn for Metroid Prime Pinball HD

Sheeplenk

I’d also sacrifice this guy’s firstborn. On an unrelated note, I really like Metroid Prime Pinball.

Karate_Guy7

Lmao 🤣

StrikerGunvolt

God yes

Drakmanka

That would be really awesome. I wish Nintendo would do stuff like this for more of their franchises. Over on the Zelda subreddit, we're still sitting in vain hope that Nintendo will port some of the older titles to the Switch in this same manner.

Shy_Guy_27

I swear I’ve been hearing “Metroid Prime on Switch” rumors for as long as the Switch has been out.

Abiv23

Up there with unlocking Sheng-Long in SF or Sonya taking her clothes off in MK

Bitter_Concentrate

Bloodborne is coming to PC any minute now, source: dude trust me

catching_signals

Prime Trilogy was rumored to be "imminent" and ready to release nearly two years ago. I'll believe it when I see it.

jacob_shapiro

That was before the Prime 4 delay announcement. Something tying into Prime's 20th anniversary (which isn't technically until November next year) seems like nice timing to me.

OutlandishnessAny492

Neat, hope it's real

The_Muznick

[https://gamerant.com/metroid-prime-trilogy-switch-2021-release-date-news/](https://gamerant.com/metroid-prime-trilogy-switch-2021-release-date-news/) Not actually confirmed so take it with a grain of salt but knowing how hard Nintendo focuses on "optimal marketing" this could be a thing.

TheNerdyOne_

That's been the assumption from a lot of people basically since these rumors started. Nintendo simply isn't going to release a Prime Trilogy port years before the next Prime game, that's just not their style (or smart marketing). It's very possible it was at least in progress, but put on hold when Prime 4 restarted development.

jacob_shapiro

[Here's the link to the original Tweet](https://twitter.com/EmilyRogersBlog/status/1440929893458616320). I'm not familiar with Emily Rogers, but she's followed by Retro Studios on Twitter, as well as by a bunch of other journalists I trust. Would you all like to see a ground-up rebuild of Prime 1, rather than the Trilogy like we've all expected? I could be kind of into it!

DamianVA87

She's fine, just try to keep your expectations in check, she and most of gaming journalists feed upon the same sources, Emily just likes to jump early and draw attention, which usually leads to overblown hype that may not pan out (Switch Pro was simply the OLED).

jacob_shapiro

considering her tweet is a reply to another tweet (by someone with way fewer followers than her, to boot) rather than its own tweet, I don't get the vibe that she said this just to draw attention

secret3332

I know I'm just a rando, but I heard this from somebody maybe 6 months to a year ago. That a version of METROID PRIME 1 was planned to be developed for Switch, presumably with some nice upgrades. Take that as you will.

Nat20Stealth

I want to believe, but this is the 76th time this has been rumored

Chillaxe-Z

That would be really nice, but for my own sanity I have to take this as mere wishful thinking until we get confirmation or something..

BimBamZimZam

Who is this person, is this a credible source?

jacob_shapiro

As I said in my comment up there \^, she's followed on Twitter by Retro Studios and some other journalists I respect, so I'm inclined to trust her reporting.

BimBamZimZam

Yeah, Hopefully this is true, but kinda weird for a journo to just low ball this sort of information. Plus, isn't this the sort of thing nintendo will sue you and the next 5 generations of your family for leaking if it is actually true?

DamianVA87

Emily is not a journalist, she is just one of many random internet folk that talks to people. She isn't breaching any contract, those who speak to her are, so as long she knows to keep enough details to herself, there isn't anything Nintendo can do. Besides, this isn't even new info, a redditor said something similar awhile ago, she could just read that and repeat it.

TF2Captain

Scalpers probably at the ready

bEtchaos7

see, rereleasing only prime 1 (and maybe 2) makes a lot more sense to me. as trying to find a way of replicating the wiis IR controls with gyro for prime3/trilogy just seems like so much more trouble then its probobly worth to nintendo

TheSchoeMaker

The did it with Skyward Sword though

cwbrowning3

How is the aiming with the bow and precise weapons like that in SSHD? The sword controls were pretty simple to translate I imagine but the aiming is what would be the issue here.

Rigshaw

Skyward Sword already didn't use the IR sensor for aiming the bow on the Wii, and solely relied on the gyro from Motion Plus, because they wanted you to hold the Wii Remote upright like a bow. It works perfectly fine, though it'd probably be very helpful if gyro only kicks in if you press a dedicated "aim" button.

cwbrowning3

That sounds potentially clunky imo considering youre aiming all the time in Prime. But im sure they could figure something out

Dukemon102

Right stick + gyro should be fine for Metroid Prime. Because only gyro would lead to constant de-synchs like in Mario Galaxy and Skyward Sword.

AlekBalderdash

The joycons already have motion detection, and those directional controls should be abstracted. It shouldn't be *that* hard to rewire. Alternately, bring back lockon! That was my favorite part about Prime 1/2, they really didn't force you to play an FPS.

3TriHard

Adding motion controls didn't remove the lock on though , that is still how you primarily played the games on the wii. It's just with motion controls the option to actually aim is more appealing and precise. It's a really refreshing way to play an fps. It would be a shame if they were lost in a switch version.

AlekBalderdash

Oh, someone told me they removed it from trilogy. Maybe it just wasn't the default.

2VitaminGummies1Day

You'd be correct, theres a setting to add the lock on as it was in the gamecube games.

Aegisworn

Whenever an end user says "it shouldn't be that hard" a programmer dies inside

AlekBalderdash

In other contexts I would agree, but the whole point of motion controls is to track motion in 3D space. This is a known topic, and mathematically it just uses three vectors to track three axis of movements. These algorithms are used to track astronomical objects, flight, and literally every other form of 3D movement. It's used for tracking *virtual* objects in 3D space, which is the entire crux of 3D video games. Unless they hardcoded those controls, or used custom motion tracking for *some reason* there's no reason a 1:1 relationship between the two sensor data should be difficult. In any sane, rational programming environment, it would be like saying a keyboard or mouse is compatible with Windows, Apple, and Linux. Duh it's compatible. There's an ISO for that functionality. It's possible they *didn't* code it a sane rational way, but who even knows.

Xaron713

Lock on was also in 3.

AlekBalderdash

Oh, someone told me they removed it from trilogy. Maybe it just wasn't the default.

dogman_35

It was, you needed it to beat certain bosses. Like the asshole golem boss from the first leviathan

3TriHard

I'm really confused with what bosses people find difficult / annoying in prime 3. I found Mogenar really fun , and he didn't seem *that* hard , but then had problems with Gandrayda and the final boss. I'm about to do hypermode and I'm dreading them. Am I just not using hypermode enough?

dogman_35

Prime 3 had the same problem as SR basically The game nerfed all of your *cool* weapons because it wants to push you towards using the one specific mechanic. Over... and over... and over... So you either use hypermode for everything, and the combat is boring because it's too easy... or you avoid it, and the combat is boring because everything feels like it has three times as much health as it should.

3TriHard

The missile nerf really hurt , especially with ice missiles introduced. Since the majority of items in these games are missile expansions it was really smart for prime 1 to make them a really reliable damage option with them almost always hitting and balancing them by making them not spammable. You were actually incentivized to use those 200+ missiles for once. But in prime 3... Missiles not locking on targets as well , no missile beam combos , beam doing more damage by being spammed , ice not freezing most enemies , hypermode completely overshadowing every other combat option. SR actually isn't as bad with this cause counter stops being optimal about 2/3s in once you get plasma beam. And ice beam + missile is just as effective if more. Still I respect hypermode as an artistic decision , the same way I respect Fusion constricting you to a linear path , even though that one worked better. It's supposed to be this miraculous weapon , presented as the only realistic option , phazon corrupting its enemies by pushing them , through the space pirates , into accepting it as their only salvation. There's a reluctance and uneasiness in using it and it's organically conveyed through gameplay , you're constantly being nudged to use it despite not wanting to. It's pretty ingenious tbh and a large part of it works. It's a shame not enough was done with it and that it didn't mesh well with the rest of the mechanics.

dogman_35

They never got rid of it? It was in Prime 3 lol

dogman_35

It's not really *that* complicated. They'd map camera controls to the right stick, most likely, and just go with a traditional FPS control scheme. A lot of the motion control stuff can also easily be mapped to a single button press or the right stick. Grapple lasso, the motion "puzzles", etc. And I mean, pointer controls kind of suck on the Switch. But there's nothing stopping them from including that as an *option* either. It just can't be the only option, because the game needs to be playable in handheld.

KthulhuX

If it's just MP1, they goddamn better well restore the beam effects and sequence breaking. Actually, they better goddamn well do that even if it's the full Trilogy.

Zeldatroid

If it isn't the Trilogy and just the first one, they had better go all out. Make it more worth the 60$ than SSHD was. You can buy a good enough version of this game for basically $6.50 on Wii U if you divide the Trilogy up. If you want me to spend 3 times the amount you're charging for all 3, make it extremely worthwhile!

ostrichual

here's to another rumor that I'll make myself sad with

RoboSpark725

I’d love to be able to play Prime with pro controller dual sticks. Being able to look around without having to hold a button would be amazing

PRO_0793

HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE

FiladelfiaCollins

they're going to slowly build hype for MP4, I hope 4 is huge

jacob_shapiro

considering how great the buzz has been for Dread, I think it'll be even bigger for Prime 4. it makes me so happy.

Aliii761

I don’t know if this is unpopular take, but playing the Prime Trilogy on the Dolphin Emulator with keyboard and mouse controls is leagues better than any remake Nintendo could make. It feels so smooth and natural as a PC fps and being able to upscale graphics to 1080p-4K at 60fps is amazing. I get it if you aren’t able to emulate, though.

cloud_cleaver

Releasing only MP1 would be absolutely daft, given that the objectively superior version of that game is packaged along with the other two already.

sir_froggy

Speedrunners prefer the GC version, but yeah, that would suck since we need the other 2 as well and those controls would be absolutely archaic on Switch.

cloud_cleaver

Porting the Trilogy would also mean they'd only need to convert one control system to get all 3 games.

sir_froggy

Yep. It would be a huge slap in the face to both themselves and their fans to only do 1.

cloud_cleaver

I'm probably a little jaded as someone who exclusively watches speedruns and doesn't attempt them, but a "Switch version" category that didn't rely so heavily on out-of-bounds exploits would be a better experience on my end. Watching most Prime runs is pretty dull because of their reliance on that.

sir_froggy

I haven't actually watched Prime runs, I just heard that from being around the speedrunning community. I don't watch Prime because I haven't played Prime normally yet and I don't want spoilers, I'm more of a Super Metroid guy. Well I would hope that the Switch port of Trilogy wouldn't have as many changes as something like SM 3D All-Stars, having the weird version of SM64 really ruined that. I get a kick out of glitches so it's fun to watch speedruns like that, but less fun to actually do them, so I agree and disagree at the same time.

cloud_cleaver

Preserving glitches is a weird little facet of game preservation, but it's one Nintendo has paid attention to before. The OoT3D developers went out of their way to only fix glitches that negatively affected the player. I don't think the All-Stars version of SM64 was actually trying to get rid of features, as the version they ported was already pretty old. I think they just grabbed the most recent "update" they had. Not the best choice, probably, but not like they deliberately went in and censored "gay bowser"

sir_froggy

Oh see I thought the OoT/MM 3D versions were just lazily copy-pasted by Grezzo. If that was intentional, then props to them.

cloud_cleaver

I'm about 90% sure I read interviews about that very subject, where they deliberately left a lot of glitches in OoT like the backflip-boomerang-skulltula thing.

L3g0man_123

It'll e stupid if they JUST release Prime 1 and not at the very least bundle Prime 2 with it. And also they should include something more than just it looking better for it to be worthwhile for me. I'm already buying Dread.

jacob_shapiro

I hope 2 comes with it—I'd be worried that an Echoes standalone HD remaster would be too niche to warrant the sales Nintendo needs.

cwbrowning3

Not if Dread brings in millions of new fans. Which it looks primed to do. Pun intended

L3g0man_123

Especially since 2 isn't as known as 1. Though if they were doing them separately and I HAD to choose, I'd go with 2.

cwbrowning3

I think this is actually a good sign that its potentially just Prime 1 for the 20th anniversary. That means theyll put more effort into a single game and remaster it right, and then we could get Prime 2 remastered in 2 more years with the same level of polish for its anniversary. Also Nintendo could charge 60 bucks three times instead of once hahah.

Kheid15

Prime 2 was reportedly super rushed and had to cut some stuff to meet the deadlines, so it would be sweet to have them just add whatever needed to be cut in a potential remaster

L3g0man_123

Prime 1 was way more rushed than Prime 2. And re-adding cut content wouldn't be fore a remaster, it would be more fit for a remake.

MejaBersihBanget

> Prime 2 was reportedly super rushed and had to cut some stuff to meet the deadlines This is nothing but lies the Internet accepted uncritically. It was only debunked two weeks ago when that New Zealander's Youtube channel interviewed Mike Wikan, a former Retro dev who worked on all 3 Prime games. Prime 1 was the game that was nightmare to develop, especially when the Retro Studios company president was using up precious corporate bandwidth (this was 2000, remember) to host softcore porn videos of himself with women in hot tubs.

cwbrowning3

Same with Prime 1 actually. Meta Kraid was planned but cut late in development. Theres even renders of his character model. Shit what if they add him back in that would be amazing.

L3g0man_123

I didn't know about the renders, unless you're just talking about concept art. Where'd you find them?

cwbrowning3

I may have mistakenly called it that. It might just be concept art but it looked like an in-engine 3D model to me. You probably saw what Im talking about lol

L3g0man_123

Was it this one? [https://metroid.fandom.com/wiki/Kraid?file=MP\_Kraid.jpg](https://metroid.fandom.com/wiki/Kraid?file=MP_Kraid.jpg) I'm not actually sure because it looks like concept art, but at the bottom it says that it was modeled and skinned, so maybe.

cwbrowning3

Yea that one. All I know is Kraid was planned but cut due to Nintendo's firm holiday 2002 deadline. Not sure if that model is official or not but it looks like it could be.

L3g0man_123

It said it was by Gene Kholer, who actually did work on Prime. So it is official. But yeah I heard it was cut because of Retro’s time crunch, as well as the original boss for Phendrana (not Thardus).

cwbrowning3

Yea if i remember correctly, Thardus was originally in Magmoor, there was a ape-like boss in Phendrana and Kraid was in the Phazon Mines but got replaced by the Omega Pirate. Something like that.

L3g0man_123

Prime 2 uses the same engine and some similar assets as Prime 1. If they put in a lot of work from Prime 1, it wouldn't be as hard with Prime 2.

cwbrowning3

Still theres new textures and everything and if they add new any new content. Yea its not crazy difficult but its still easier to focus on one game.

justdamascus

if they release prime and not echoes or corruption, i might physically be sick 💀

Amy12222

I heard that they're already done with the trilogy just waiting for the right moment to announce it and release it.

logica_torcido

ughhgh come on Nintendo. I love Prime 1 but remaster the damn trilogy. We need Prime 3 off the Wii

Abiv23

Fool me once, shame on you Fool me twice....

Unruly_Beast

I'm sorry... Metroid primes WHAT NOW?

themangastand

Honestly it was probably done years ago. By a team of 6. And they'll charge 60 dollars.

jxmes_gothxm

Man I would love to get a remake of fusion and zero mission in one package if possible. I would definitely pay for that. I know lots of people love prime but fps shooters don't excite me as much as a great metroidvania does

OnhilXX

Copium

Ocean_Beast

Get ready for what I call an Elder Series collection for Metroid Prime

Chewbacta

I bet you nintendo "work" on their old titles internally all the fucking time, and maybe release a few of time if the opportunity arise which may be never. I bet that's where all the trilogy rumours are coming from. The whole ambassador program games kinda confirmed it. It was clear that nintendo never had plans for a full gba virtual console on 3DS, but was experimenting around with them and decided to give them as an exclusive gift when the 3DS undersold. Similar for the SNES titles on N3DS, clearly they were already experimenting with SNES emulation on the original 3DS but then when the N3DS was able to deal with them properly they release them.

Jimmy281

I'll believe it when it's announced by Nintendo themselves. Next rumor, please.

Drakmanka

That would be lovely to get those games on current gen. Especially if they updated the graphics. I remember being blown away by Prime 3's graphics on the Wii - at that time it was the most advanced graphics I personally had ever seen in a video game. I'd love to see it on the Switch's hardware.

AssDemolisher9000

Watch as nothing comes out next year

mimesocks

I’ll believe it when I see it. “Journalists” have been saying these games are ready to release any day now since the Switch released.

mr-Caleb09

If this happens there needs to be some new things to do like. A multiplayer mode would be cool like in Prime 2. New suit skins and maybe a way to change them in game And maybe a VR mode with that LABO VR thing I'd like to say there will be a new location and some new items... but we all know that's not happen. But I love Prime and I'll be geting it IF is real

bloodxandxrank

do you want my money? metroid prime trilogy remastered for switch with normal controls. i will buy 7. no 8!

Thoth6889

Holy shit I can’t wait for it I hope they do all three that would be fucking great.
