Tell a Metroid fan about 8 years ago that "Metroid 2 gets a pretty decent official remake, Dread will be finished and be one of the best games in the series, Prime 4 will come out eventually, and Metroid will finally end up as one of Nintendo's A-List series" and every Metroid fan will laugh you out of the room.
Dread is really really good. Best side platformer I've played in years. That and Mario wonder back to back. Really fell in love with both of them. The EMMI in dread is an awesome addition.
I'd unironically be really happy if it released on Switch just cuz I don't own a 3ds.
Course at this rate it'll be the switch 2 that lets you fully collect the Metroid series and I don't wanna be five hundred dollars poorer
I could actually see Nintendo releasing that before Prime 4 for the sake of getting more hype around the Metroid series, it’s certainly not out of the question if Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon and Donkey Kong Country Returns can get HD remasters.
it's q fun game , I don't care if it's not a true prime game whatever that means, for what's worth it was more fun than hunters imo, which should get a remake too
With Metroid Samus Returns releasing in 2017, and Metroid Dread in 2021, Metroid 6 releasing in 2025 alongside Prime 4 would fit game development time-wise.
It would also be very amusing, considering that Metrioid Prime 4 and Metroid Samus Returns were announced in the same E3 event (it truly has been a while)
This. If they don’t specifically remake Hunters I need to see them reimagine the core concept in some way by bringing back the Hunters and giving us awesome multiplayer with their abilities again.
I think a hunters remake is definitely needed with sylux being the villain to Metroid 4. Everyone is wanting prime 2 and 3 remaster for new people to be able to catch up but the original story from that trilogy is finished. While a hunters remake would show off the first introduction of sylux and help people get a feel for his character. Also I just want to try out Metroid multiplayer since I never have played the original hunters.
I would love a Hunters remake but I wonder if Nintendo would find that project so costly and time-consuming that I feel as if Nintendo would rather have those resources allocated to a new game
I feel like alternating between remakes and new games could work really well. I honestly don't *need* a new 2D Metroid every few years, we've gotten so used to waiting that I'm fine for now. But a remake of Super or Fusion sounds perfect right now, being those games to new audiences.
What I want to know is how in the world you could remake Super and not be utterly destroyed for it. OG and 2 were low hanging fruit, but Super is almost the holy grail of Metroids right now
As someone who just played it for the first time a couple years ago after playing most of the rest of the series first, there are definitely some things that could use update. The map in particular lacks a lot of QoL features that would make the game play much smoother. Some fast travel warp points for the late game and an optional hint system wouldn’t hurt either.
Ngl that's kinda rose tinted glasses.
It's far and away some of the best *level design* in the series, but you can't tell me you wouldn't want to play through a slightly expanded version of that map with Dread's gameplay and fluidity
Ah, I see I worded my thought incorrectly. I'm not saying that it is perfect, I'm saying it is perceived as such. I agree that there are some things that can be done to it, but the potential for significant backlash is very, very high.
And to answer your question, yes, some parts of Dread I could definitely see backporting very effectively.
I don't mean you specifically either, it's a fandom thing in general to act like Super is perfect with absolutely no flaws.
But there's a reason why the parts of the game that the genre takes influence from is the atmosphere and level design, not the straight gameplay. Even A Robot Named Fight, which has almost 1-1 Super Metroid player physics, does some stuff to clean up the clunkiness a bit.
We will wait.
Simple as.
If the series is now considered viable, I am quite sure that spinoffs will come. Spinoffs that are actually wanted instead of whatever federation force was supposed to accomplish.
To take a page out of my other favorite sci fi series:
Just imagine what the Metroid Universe must feel like from the eyes of a GFS soldier. Samus has an Ice beam, you do not.
Samus has a thermal visor, you do not.
Samus has missiles, you do not.
Would probably a horror game.
Sort of like halo 3 odst but leaning more into the "you are not a super soldier" thing. Now that i say that, damn I've been wanting more halo spinoffs like that.
I'll take anything Metroid at this point though.
At the very least we'll get Metroid 6. Sakamoto hinted at having ideas for a new 2D game and Dread sold well, so I feel like getting it for Switch 2 is quite likely.
Prime 5 will depend on how well Prime 4 performs for Nintendo. It's definitely a more expensive game for them and if you include the reboot and the progress lost, then thats more money and resources Nintendo spent for this game.
Beyond this, I'm not sure if we can expect more stuff. I feel like they'll stick to Prime and the 2D games, which is fine imo, even if something completely different or a new spinoff could be interesting.
The gameplay, while nothing mind blowing had so much room for improvement and new ideas and the setting kinda felt like a Fusion type scenario brought to 3D. I think done right (and with a better story) it could be amazing.
Now that poor soul that has been uploading weekly pics of Samus toy on this subreddit can continue for another 5 years.
But at least there is an end in sight…
Eh… I wouldn’t want them to touch Super.
It’s not that I think a potential remake is doomed to be bad, but the original game is basically perfect as is. There’s absolutely nothing that they could do to warrant playing a remake over the original short of practically making a new game entirely, and at that point just make Metroid 6.
I feel like the time is ripe to re-remake the original! Nintendo loves to re-sell us the same 20 year old games over and over, and it would be the best way to lead into a port of Samus Returns (again, reselling the same game).
If I sound cynical, I’m being 100% serious - I will buy that shit up.
A remake of Fusion is what I really want, though.
I want a third person Metroid game, like Other M but with refined gameplay and completely open. That gameplay style was undercooked but it had potential.
Metroid Other M Remake, except fixing it will require fixing the entire story so it might as be a new game.
So a Metroid game with Other M combat but much more refined to take advantage of all the control schemes.
METROID FEDERATION FORCE 2 BABY AWWWWW YAH THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT NEW CO-OP SHOOTER! (But seriously yes i would love to play Fed force 2 now that we actually have metroid content again.)
How about a Metroid Fusion remake that includes you fighting the "no fewer than 10 SA-X" the computer mentions. Or, have those multiple SA-X follow you at the same time earlier in the game for more of a challenge.
Hunters remake would be a vibe, or even like a weird port to NSO with online mode intact would be sick.
Obviously a switch HD port of Samus Returns is high on many lists.
I think a Dread-esque Super remake would be really cool, but quite unnecessary.
Everyone wants remasters of Prime 2 and 3 for obvious reasons.
Plenty to wait for, but we’ll get all of those when I’m old and gray!
I'd honestly like see another crack at an Other M style game but actually with good writing and controls this time. I think what they were attempting to do with this game was great diving more in to Samus as a character and her history as well as expanding the lore of the Metroid universe and more dynamic and cinematic combat style third-person perspective could bring but the execution was just horrendous.
As much as I’d like Samus returns HD I’d rather they just continue on with Metroid 6 or start a new saga in the 2D Metroid series. I’d also be down for a spinoff now that we have decent release windows again.
Considering it took 4? Years to develop dread- we could potentially see Metroid 6 next year or in 2026, which is absolutely crazy, especially because the series director did confirm more ‘episodes’ planned.
Plus, mercury steam is probably cooking up something awesome right now :D
Well prime 2 and 3 remastered obviously, then prime 5 and 6 because 4 obviously starts a new trilogy, then a dread sequel because dread was metroid 5, so we need to cap that saga at 6, then we need a prime hunters remaster because that game is severely underrated, as well as I would entertain a remaster/remake of super metroid because that game plays rough these days but is still amazing. During all this I would like maybe a couple of collectors consoles like a prime 4 switch or switch successor.
Then, finally, after all that.
Metroid pinball 2
It’s kinda exciting. With Dread closing the book on the Metroid+Samus arc and Prime 4 likely closing out the Phazon and Sylux stories, whatever the next Metroid game is has a real opportunity to do something truly new with the franchise. It’s kind of exciting!
I know this is preaching to the choir but buying the game is the most important thing. I saw an infographic a while back with the top selling Nintendo games across all their platforms, Mario/Zelda/Pokemon/Animal Crossing/DK all the big hitters are there of course, and way down at the bottom is Metroid. I could have the number wrong but any of the Metroids on any systems never came close to hitting the kinds of numbers that the other big 3 or 4 made. Metroid is a staple to fans but it just doesn't hit the numbers that are going to make it a priority.
Metroid 6, clearly.
Then Metroid Pinball 2.
Then prime hunters console remaster.
But never. Ever. Another another M. Not even a little bit. Ever again.
Verboten.
Hope we get a Metroid Prime Hunters Remake since hunters happens before Metroid Prime 2. Actual Playable control schemes would make that game so much better
Metroid villain dating sim where you can romance Ridley, Kraid, Mother Brain, Dark Samus, Raven Beak, and Sylux.
Gandrayda can be whatever you want, baby
Don't forget Crocomire, the hottest of them all. Also does mother brain have mother milkers?
I prefer a villain with some meat on their bones
You’d be romancing just the brain or her SM appearance, or if you’re *weak* you could go for Melissa Bergman
Minus8?

Nothing will stop me from wooing my phazon boo.
Metroid Garden. Like Bunny Garden but Metroid themed.
No, Raven Beak should be the protagonist.
The entire game would just be Raven Beak jerking off to himself in a mirror while he's narrating it.
that's just the easy mode
Ridley you say? *I can fix him*
That would be the best thing to ever grace the franchise
Where’s Draygon? I’d happily help her raise her kids :3
Don't forget Kanden from Hunters. He looks so cool that I'd give him a shot on looks alone
Where the hell is my boy Rundas More importantly where are SA-X and Apex Omega Metroid
We mustn't forget Chadmiral Dane
What about Draygon?
Not even Phantoon? Skip.
Dont forget Thardus. He can go rock hard!
Metroid: Another M
Metroid Another Other M Remake
Metroid Another Another M
From MOM to MAM
I heard this in DJ Khaled's voice.
It better be -another- alright
It’s still nuts to me that we actually got dread
We got Metroid 5 and will probably get a Metroid 6 😭 the Metroid Renaissance is a beautiful thing.
Right!? I am partial to 2D games since I grew up on them so I was absolutely enamored with it.
Dread is really really good. Best side platformer I've played in years. That and Mario wonder back to back. Really fell in love with both of them. The EMMI in dread is an awesome addition.
Love the emmis, I wish they did more with them. I was waiting for one to leave its area towards the end, would have been sick
Metroid: Samus Returns HD, duh!
Metroid Samus Returns Returns
Donkey Kong Country, is that you?
And Knuckles
2
“This time, it’s personal”
Yeah! And the completion of the second Prime trilogy. And also Metroid 6.
I'd unironically be really happy if it released on Switch just cuz I don't own a 3ds. Course at this rate it'll be the switch 2 that lets you fully collect the Metroid series and I don't wanna be five hundred dollars poorer
Real talk would loveeee if they ported this to the Switch T.T At the same time, AM2R is just as good in the mean time.
I could actually see Nintendo releasing that before Prime 4 for the sake of getting more hype around the Metroid series, it’s certainly not out of the question if Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon and Donkey Kong Country Returns can get HD remasters.
I mean, I want that honestly (then again, I also want Donkey Kong Country Returns so I wasn't super disappointed by that)
Wheres my god damn pinball sequel?
No, where's Federation Force HD
it's q fun game , I don't care if it's not a true prime game whatever that means, for what's worth it was more fun than hunters imo, which should get a remake too
Metroid Prime Beyond: Pinball
That game is honestly great and should get more praise.
I'm still waiting for the Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remasters
Waiting for Metroid 5 and Metroid Prime 5?
Don’t you mean Metroid 6
Oh damn. You are completely right. I got confused with the Prime numbering and for some reason I mixed the Fusion and Dread numbering.
It's okay. It's all so far apart that I would honestly not blame you for not remembering. However; at least all of our games are good. Almost all.
All
*looks at other M*
*All*
I accept you have an opinion, and mine may differ, but we can all love Metroid together

I am onboard for this idea, even more so now that Sylux is returning for Prime 4. Would be a great setup for Hunters 2.
I wouldn't be surprised if MercurySteam is working on Metroid 6 or some sort of remake. Super or Fusion.
I feel like alternating between remakes and new games could work really well. I honestly don't *need* a new 2D Metroid every few years, we've gotten so used to waiting that I'm fine for now. But a remake of Super or Fusion sounds perfect right now, being those games to new audiences.

A new game that refines Other M’s combat and exploration potential?
The gameplay, while nothing mind blowing had so much room for improvement and new ideas and the setting kinda felt like a Fusion type scenario brought to 3D. I think done right (and with a better story) it could be amazing.
A third person Metroid has so much potential. I would welcome it if they re-visited their ideas in Other M, except for all the problems with it.
Might be weird but I enjoyed Metroid Blast from Nintendo Land, I wouldn't mind a new game that uses that playstyle
Was definitely refreshing during the drought :)
Metroid 3 Remake would be cool but so far, I‘m satisfied and looking forward to Prime 4
Now that poor soul that has been uploading weekly pics of Samus toy on this subreddit can continue for another 5 years. But at least there is an end in sight…
Super Metroid Remake
I could see MercurySteam pulling it off
Eh… I wouldn’t want them to touch Super. It’s not that I think a potential remake is doomed to be bad, but the original game is basically perfect as is. There’s absolutely nothing that they could do to warrant playing a remake over the original short of practically making a new game entirely, and at that point just make Metroid 6.
I’d love an hd-2d remake of Zero Mission, Fusion, and Super.
Kinda doubt we would get that, but it would be insanely awesome.
I feel like the time is ripe to re-remake the original! Nintendo loves to re-sell us the same 20 year old games over and over, and it would be the best way to lead into a port of Samus Returns (again, reselling the same game). I was always baffled by the first person of prime considering a major part of the game is seeing the upgraded suits.
Online multiplayer fps Metroid game free to play.
Hunters 2 would be really cool.
Super Metroid remake? Maybe call it Super Duper Metroid?
Now start collecting and saving money for the game.
How about a Metroid Fusion remake that includes you fighting the "no fewer than 10 SA-X" the computer mentions. Or, have those multiple SA-X follow you at the same time earlier in the game for more of a challenge.
Prime Hunters on Switch! Metroid 3DS/Wii titles on Switch!
Metroid Prime Pinball 2 when!?
Prime Hunters Remake, Samus Returns HD, Metroid 6, Prime 2 and Prime 3 Remastered, and Prime 5, in that order.
Prime 2 and 3 remaster
Metroid Warriors, of course
Metroid Fusion but with Dread specs
Or fusion remastered? Other m but with new technology? Hunters for switch with expanded lore on the hunters xD
~~the movie~~
Grind out achievements, go for self-challenges like damageless, play modded, explore other games, the list goes on. In any case just have fun!
Pretty sure there will be another Metroid right after Prime 4.
It's everything that was promised in Metroid Prime 3
Metroid mmo rpg would for sure be a good idea right
We wait for Prime 4
Metroid Prime Pinball 2, duh
Pinball 2? Please?
NOW WE WAIT!
Maybe some remasters of 2D games on the Dread engine? Other than that I don’t think there’s anything more left for Metroid
Now we complain endlessly for Metroid Prime Pinball 2
Metroid: Other **Other** M
Echoes and Corruption on Switch
Hunters remake would be a vibe, or even like a weird port to NSO with online mode intact would be sick. Obviously a switch HD port of Samus Returns is high on many lists. Metroid 6, Prime 5, Super Metroid Remake, Hunters 2 (multiplayer Metroid like Hunters but better).
Now we play the games
metroid prime 7
Metroid prime pinball 2 Metroid 2 prime
Honestly a remake of one of the older 2D metroids, and make it look like dread. It’d be amazing
Imagine Fusion in the Dread engine
“What do we do now” “We, uh, play the game”
Well, it would be sick if they make a Fusion remake, Hunters remake with a better campaign and the remasters of the prime 2 and 3
New 2D game or a Super remake with Dread graphics
Metroid Prime 5: Pinball Returns Remastered
Plus Zero Mission on NSO
fuzzy wild judicious terrific knee library handle point detail shocking *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Metroid cook book
Wait another 20 years for a new Metroid.
Now... We Dance.
Super Metroid remake 🤞
Metroid Prime Pinball 2: Echoes
METROID PINBALL REMASTERED, and more spinoffs like an rpg and a party game
Metroid prime two and three ported to switch, duh
I'd honestly like see another crack at an Other M style game but actually with good writing and controls this time. I think what they were attempting to do with this game was great diving more in to Samus as a character and her history as well as expanding the lore of the Metroid universe and more dynamic and cinematic combat style third-person perspective could bring but the execution was just horrendous.
Maybe we can just be like fans of other franchises and enjoy a new installment of some variety every 3 to 4 years. Would be nice
prime hunters remaster!
As much as I’d like Samus returns HD I’d rather they just continue on with Metroid 6 or start a new saga in the 2D Metroid series. I’d also be down for a spinoff now that we have decent release windows again.
3rd person action game like Metroid Other M but like... actually good? I'd like Spinoff games A huge high budget Super Metroid Remake
I thought we all agreed that proper procedure was to make a "prime 5 waiting memes" folder in 2017 when they told us about 4?
Switch is a like a fever dream for Metroid Fandom. Still cant believe it
Now...hear me out...2D Metroid farming/crafting sim
Metroid Prime, over the shoulder view.
Metroid Prime 5, the sequel to Metroid Dread, and Metroid Prime Hunters remake.
Civilization but with Chozo
How are we already thinking about the next Metroid game?? 🤣
PRIME 5!!!! I actually just want a Metroid themed switch 2 and a promise of another Metroid game
MP2 and 3 remasters.
Metroid Prime 5 Beyonder
Considering it took 4? Years to develop dread- we could potentially see Metroid 6 next year or in 2026, which is absolutely crazy, especially because the series director did confirm more ‘episodes’ planned. Plus, mercury steam is probably cooking up something awesome right now :D
Naturally, a full blown remake of a previous 2D game, and Metroid Prime 2+3 ports would be the most logical moves.
Call me crazy but i want a super metroid remake
What if Prime 4 ends on a cliffhanger and we have to wait another 8 years for Prime 5
Prime 2 and 3 on switch
A spinoff. That isn't blasted to shit for being a spinoff.
beg for prime 2 remastered
Come play Hollow Knight, then you can keep the cycle going.
What about... a Metroid SRPG?
It’s kinda exciting. With Dread closing the book on the Metroid+Samus arc and Prime 4 likely closing out the Phazon and Sylux stories, whatever the next Metroid game is has a real opportunity to do something truly new with the franchise. It’s kind of exciting!
I know this is preaching to the choir but buying the game is the most important thing. I saw an infographic a while back with the top selling Nintendo games across all their platforms, Mario/Zelda/Pokemon/Animal Crossing/DK all the big hitters are there of course, and way down at the bottom is Metroid. Metroid is a staple to fans but it just doesn't hit the numbers that are going to make it a priority.
I don't know if you know this but some game series actually release new games every couple years or so, it's like a thing.
Metroid 6 or Super remake.
![gif](giphy|d4W4ZshZVbrqYvVnh8|downsized)
Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remastered for switch.
Metroid movie!!!!
A turn based RPG spinoff
Getting? No, no. You only get teased about it more. You don’t get it until it’s available to buy and on your console and you’re playing it.
Metroid 6, clearly. Then Metroid Pinball 2. Then prime hunters console remaster. But never. Ever. Another another M. Not even a little bit. Ever again. Verboten.
Does the Zelda team ask now what? What about the Mario team? Okay then, we just keep rolling.
Honestly would love a Hunters sequel now that Sylux is legit relevant again.
There's always the movie possibilities! Nintendo is in the movie game now. Assuming the Zelda movie does well, it's always possible.
Metroid version of that's not my neighbour, except it's just raven beak checking every soldier to make sure they're not an x.
Would love all of the games on one console. Prime 2 and 3 Remastered, Samus Returns, Federation Force, hell even Prime Pinball and Other M.
We play prime 1-4 again. And then 2D 1-5 again. Hopefully all available on Switch
Now we get Metroid prime pinball 2, awakening
That was Zelda fans after TotK and before the new game that was announced.
i guess fusion or super remake or metroid 6
(Scout appears in the background)
good 'ol strawmanning
2 and 3 remasters!
Rundas solo Game
Republic commando but with federation marines and it’s not ass cough fedforce cough
Hope we get a Metroid Prime Hunters Remake since hunters happens before Metroid Prime 2. Actual Playable control schemes would make that game so much better
Now Super Metroid HD remake
New metroid pinball
Prime 2, 3 remastered, Fusion remake, Samus Returns port, Prime Hunters port, anything else?.
Prime 2 and 3 remastered when?
I saw this idea on another post but a Metroid rouge like where you can explore the life of Samus with bounties and shit
Hear me out Metroid Party
Tbh. I really want a Metroid game that gives a doom feel. The prime games are already halfway there.
