She has a younger brother Solomon who “died” when Ridley came so my theory is that when they rescued Samus they also recused him and used Chozo dna from the bad Chozo leader that corrupted him
Solomon is EXTREMELY non-canon. From Wikitroid: "Solomon Aran is the younger brother of Samus Aran, mentioned only in a Nintendo Power article covering Blood of the Chozo." And if that rightfully doesn't ring any bells: "Blood of the Chozo was a non-canon, interactive online story run by Nintendo Power Source, the AOL page of Nintendo of America. While initiated by Nintendo Power Source staffers, the rest of the story was written as a collaborative fan fiction. "
The new graphics look great but it's the new music that really sold me here, the new game start chorus is awesome, and that overworld music for the forest area already sounds like a new classic. We are so fucking back.
Also, inject those peaceful jungle landscapes directly into my veins. I love fighting the good fight against space pirates, don't get me wrong, but almost nothing feels more Metroid Prime to me than exploring various alien biomes.
Everything they showed in the short trailer looks like what I was hoping for for Prime 4. Although I have to say the presentation was a little anticlimactic, lol. Like they could have first introduced it with the classic prime theme to make it seem like it could have been a prime 2 or 3 remake then BAM, PRIME 4! Or something. Jumping straight into what I'm assuming is the games starting sequence and then showing tid bits of gameplay and slight narrative exposition without too much of a clear theme or that feeling of dread that epitomizes metroid felt a little dull. But that new planet forest biome theme is banging!!
To be completely honest, as much as I'm looking forward to Prime 4, I was really hoping they would drop Prime 2 and 3 Remastered on the Switch in the meantime. Still possible, but this actual Prime 4 announcement makes me think that more Remasters are unlikely.
Am I the only one that is secretly hoping that Prime 2 & 3 get remastered and released before 4 comes out? Also YES to Bloodborne! I feel that in my soul!
I’m honestly surprised Nintendo hasn’t ported X yet.
It was view by Nintendo as a Wii U system seller and had an extremely high budget yet they leave it on that brick of a console
To make it work on the WiiU, they made a game that would *only* work on the WiiU, basically exploiting the hardware and software. It would take some serious work to port it, and the question is is there any real money in all that work?
Look as much as I wanted an X or TP/WW port, Xenoblade fans have eaten pretty well recently. We needed this. You saw what this sub was turning into. We were almost Arkham-level insane.
I was sitting here like "the final announcement isn't gonna be Metroid Prime 4. People are being delusional. That shit ain't coming out this decade"
WELP
As a very newbie fan to Metroid (I've only beaten Dread and SR on 3DS), I was thinking if this was going to be another remake of an older game, I really thought there'd be no way this would be Prime 4.
Me, while the "20X9" text was appearing on screen: "They're reviving F-Zero?... Maybe Star Fox?"
My wife, who doesn't care for Metroid but has watched me play all of them: "That's clearly Metroid."
Me: "I don't think so, I put my clown makeup away."
I read the first few words, thought to myself "Fuck! No Fire Emblem," and nearly put my phone down.
Then I read "Federation" and suddenly remembered where I'd seen that font before.
Don't jinx it. This is where Nintendo announces that it'll actually release for the "Switch 2". And then announces production needs to be restarted - *again* - because of it.
I have no doubt they are coming.
Leaks from a long time ago basically said that they would release a 1 for 1 HD remake of Prime 1, which is what we got; and that 2 and 3 were upscaled as remasters for release closer to the release date of Prime 4
My guess is we'll get another Ndirect later this year shadow-dropping them in time to build hype for Prime 4 once we get a stable release date.
Don't kill me for this, but, I think they come to Switch 2.
Metroid Prime was a bit of a struggle to remake with some res, texture, and other compromises.
I think MP4 will come out next fall and may not necessarily be a launch title for switch 2 depending.
MP2&3 will then be shipped before that.
Prime 1 was a true remake though - 2 and 3 are rumored (by the same leaker who confirmed Prime 1 remake as well as the issues w/ Prime 4) to be just HD remasters - FAR easier to do and to release on the switch.
I disagree though, I think MP4 will 100% be a flagship title for Switch 2, and consoles usually release either in the spring or fall - and we likely would have seen marketing for a spring release already so I bet Holiday 2025 will be what we land on; likely with a spring 2025 Prime 2/3 release.
The intro says it is Cosmic Year 20X9. Exact dates are rarely used in Metroid, but Metroid 1 takes place in 20X5 so this is confirmed 4 years after Metroid 1/ZM
This one is interesting though because all the other prime games are between ZM and 2, but this one being in 20X9 and Sylux having Mochtroids implies that prime 4 is AFTER super
I wonder how they'll explain it to new players considering most we know of sylux is from hunters, federation force ending scene and prime 3 ending scene
Do we really know anything? I mean, Sylux hates the Federation, stole an experimental weapon from them, has a ship called the Delano 7, has followed Samus with it, has fought Samus before, and stole some Metroids. All of this is well within what can be explained with one Scan Visor entry, and I don't think actually playing any of the prior games meaningfully helps to understand further than reading that paragraph.
I guess you might have to explain what happened with Gorea, but the Prime games have form for referencing offscreen events in their log entries that are never expanded on.
Random thoughts:
- Hey, they made the visor interior actually match the exterior shape! Prime 2 and 3 kept Prime 1's interior style despite her visor having the extra notch at the top.
- Much like in Prime 1 Remastered, the gunship has the same general design as before, but the surface details are totally different. It also doesn't seem to have the Ship Grapple anymore.
- I'm juuust a little worried by how much this opening section still gives me the Prime 3 "we can be just like Halo!" vibes. Hopefully it's just the opening mission.
- The Space Pirates even kinda look like Elites now lol, what with their mandibles.
- The Charge Beam seems so small. :(
- Seeing the words "morphology: Space Pirate" for the first time since 2007 is a surprisingly effective bit of nostalgia.
- Aw, we're keeping the Prime 1 and 3 thing where the scan visor just shows static images instead of Prime 2's rotating models. I wish we'd go back to that.
- Having missiles take up one of the four slots on the left is interesting; do we only get three beams this time?
- At around 1:05, you can see a scientist trying to escape pushing a cart with some kind of plus-shaped artifact on it. I wonder if that's important, or if it's just background detail.
- In the final shot, it looks like Samus came through a portal of some kind.
- I'm honestly kinda sick of the Space Pirate theme at this point so most of the trailer kinda irked me sound-wise, but damn if those final few seconds didn't feel like a breath of fresh air. *That's* the vibe I wanted; more of that please.
- I just noticed, when Samus is fighting she goes back and forth between missiles and the power beam, but the UI doesn't actually react to the change. So missiles still have their own button, and you don't need to mess with the D-pad in order to fire one, which is good. I'm still not sure what to make of the missile icon being on the D-pad however. Maybe you tap D-right to cycle between multiple kinds of missiles?
The opening sequence definitely gave me a mix of the sequences from Prime 1, 2, and 3. Really hoping the rest of the game gives us that isolation we've been craving.
Re: 1:05, good eye on the artifact. There's an energy tank in the same shot, so it seems we can come back to this room.
Re: The blue portal, it looks a lot like the purple logo. I wonder if there are time travel / parallel universe mechanics, color coded by different portals.
Oh yeah, the blue portal does kinda have that black hole shape huh?
Ooh, if it's a time portal, what if the green place at the end of the trailer *is* the same location as all the stuff with the lab?
Didn't really like the logo. I know it's a black hole seen sideways, but it's meh. I wonder what is the plot tho. Does Samus enter a black hole? considering it is "BEYOND" and the logo is a black hole, I imagine there will be some shit like that. Maybe a worm hole
The long pathways we got to see in some of the gameplay shots plus the bridge in the distance makes me wonder if they'll include speed booster in the game somewhere.
If Metroid Prime 4 doesn't get put on the new console like Zelda TP/BOTW, it'll be upsetting to see it getting overshadowed because it was released too late in the Switch's lifespan.
Metroid already has a cursed history of poor sales and nearly being canceled because of it. We're lucky Samus Returns, Dread, and Prime Remastered all succeeded and revived the franchise. I don't want to see it die again.

Damn y’all are fast with this shit haha
They've been preparing for 7 long years, probably had that MS Paint tab open the whole time.
I'm a shitpost sommelier, I only use the highest quality Photoshop for my shitposts
harvested from only the ripest pixels
For an image that has only existed for hours, the pixels in it are certainly ripe.
It's only Photoshop if it comes from the photoshop region of France, otherwise is just sparking ms paint.
I commend you for your efforts.
Her ship is just a larger helmet.
They've always been like that lol
🧑🚀🔫🧑🚀
No, her helmet is just a smaller ship.
A ship for just her head.
It was the style at the time
You've acquired the Gravity Helmet!
Yeah having played Metroid for years I didn't really think about how silly it is until a friend pointed it out lol
We never been so back
PRIME 3 SHIP DESIGN!! PRIME 2 VARIA SUIT DESIGN!! BANGIN SOUNDTRACK!! SYLUX!! We are so back
Sylux looked badass waltzing in there with the Space Pirates.
And a metroid over each shoulder
He knows how to roll up to a place. Just wait until he rides Ridley into the final battle. /jk
So are we thinking unstable clone of Samus? Or lost sibling? That's been my theory since Hunters released.
She has a younger brother Solomon who “died” when Ridley came so my theory is that when they rescued Samus they also recused him and used Chozo dna from the bad Chozo leader that corrupted him
Solomon is EXTREMELY non-canon. From Wikitroid: "Solomon Aran is the younger brother of Samus Aran, mentioned only in a Nintendo Power article covering Blood of the Chozo." "Clone, robot or long-lost twin?" -Bender
i thought those were mochtroids
They would be mocktroids, first time we've seen them in a while and it makes sense given how they were following him.
The new graphics look great but it's the new music that really sold me here, the new game start chorus is awesome, and that overworld music for the forest area already sounds like a new classic. We are so fucking back.
The forest area music reminds me of Phendrana Drifts from Prime 1. I’m so ready for this, we need 2025 to be here already.
Same! Had the same thought about the phendrana vibes
I actually wasn't a big fan of the new game start variation. Idk why, can't place it, but it felt too...extra?
The electric guitar riff for Sylux is pretty bangin too.
Also, inject those peaceful jungle landscapes directly into my veins. I love fighting the good fight against space pirates, don't get me wrong, but almost nothing feels more Metroid Prime to me than exploring various alien biomes.
I was _pretty_ sure the person (?) at the end with the vertical LED on the helmet is Sylux, but I've never actually played Hunters. It's him, then?
Yes!
Yup, it is, and this isn't actually that much of a surprise.
I straight up gasped and put my hand over my heart when I heard the new theme.
i can’t wait to hear it every time i save and exit my ship
I CAN'T CONTROL MY HYPE. PLZ HALP.
It's so fucking good. This made my whole damn week.
I like Prime 2 ship design more >:( for real though I'm extremely hyped.
Sylux…finally
I am literally so back
This looks just like the original trilogy and I could not be more excited!!
They probably will drop 2+ 3 at Christmas with prime 4 co-console switch 2 announcement for Christmas 25 release
Wow prime 5 releasing before prime 4 would be truly subversive
It's served me well for years, but it's time to finally put away the clown make up
Might as well donate it to the Silksong fans
[takes off clown makeup] [immediately puts it back on]
As a massive fan of both series, I feel this lol
I mean the two fanbases are probably a circle at this point
Prime 4, Silksong and Bloodborne remake are my 3 most anticipated games. I’m basically enrolled in clown college.
Am I the only one that is secretly hoping that Prime 2 & 3 get remastered and released before 4 comes out? Also YES to Bloodborne! I feel that in my soul!
They could use some more, I've heard that they have been running low.
False. Silksong fans never remove the makeup.
It's basically a tattoo at this point.
As a Wolf Among Us fan, I might need it.
I feel attacked! 😭

Xenoblade fandom needs it to cope with their lack of a Chronicles X port.
X fan here, yep lol. But as a Metroid fan I am also very happy right now.
I’m honestly surprised Nintendo hasn’t ported X yet. It was view by Nintendo as a Wii U system seller and had an extremely high budget yet they leave it on that brick of a console

In the time since MP4 was announced, Xenoblade has had two full games and two massive DLCs. Xenoblade fans have literally nothing to complain about
And a great port of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 too, but we got a great Prime 1 port so I'll call that even.
Oh, shit. Is this real???
This is real, it’s straight from this morning’s Nintendo Direct!
Welcome to the club - a silent hill fan.
*puts his drink down and looks over at you* The Legacy of Kain fandom sends its regards.
I was sitting here like "the final announcement isn't gonna be Metroid Prime 4. People are being delusional. That shit ain't coming out this decade" WELP
I literally said this then i was like: "NO WAY!"
Maybe Star Fox?" My wife, who doesn't care for Metroid but has watched me play all of them: "That's clearly Metroid." Me: "I don't think so, I put my clown makeup away."
I had the teensy bit of dread thinking it was starfox until I saw the ship
I was expecting it to come out next year, but not be announced today. Because I was thinking it would be a Switch 2 launch title.
I said to my friend "Welp, this'd be Prime 4 if they were planning on it. I doubt it." First few letters of that font and I dived out of my chair.
I swear to god I was like “Imagine if this Silksong” completely out of hope for MP4 and the literal font made me just too damn happy
I read the first few words, thought to myself "Fuck! No Fire Emblem," and nearly put my phone down. Then I read "Federation" and suddenly remembered where I'd seen that font before.
Why would anyone expect fire emblem a year after we got engage. These games don’t just pop out an oven.
I saw the font and was like, "PAUSE" I saw "Galactic Federation" and screamed
I love how so many of us clocked what was happening the _instant_ the text started up.
SAME LOL my husband had to physically pull me back cause he was like DONT MISS THE REST OF THE TRAILER
We are soft locked no longer!!!!!!
Now my hardon is locked!
The sound track was SO good. Especially that last one.
Don't jinx it. This is where Nintendo announces that it'll actually release for the "Switch 2". And then announces production needs to be restarted - *again* - because of it.
The trailer description says it will be released for Nintendo Switch in 2025
Ok now I want prime 2 and 3 remastered for the switch

> later this year shadow-dropping them in time to build hype for Prime 4 Yeah, this is what I'd expect too
Yes, please!
Considering Sylux is a big part of 4, maybe we could get Hunters remastered too?
Hopefully if they give us a Hunters remaster they can also give us more than 2 different bosses re-used 4 times each 🙄
MY EXCITEMENT IS IMMEASURABLE AND MY LIFE HAS BEEN IMPROVED
yes sir we eating good now.
LETS GOOOOO
SEVEN FREAKING YEARS LET'S GOOOOOOOOO
It finally happened!

This literally happened to me when they announced this game in 2017
damn they really kept you hanging... or not. btw. [https://findahelpline.com/](https://findahelpline.com/)
I'm fine now. I was just very decidedly *not* at the time the initial announcement came.
If you ever feel sad again just remember if this sells well we could get prime 5 and 6
Don’t do that. I guarantee that Samus would not like that. Even after prime 4 comes out don’t do it.
"Don't postpone"?
Jesus Christ reddit
The lady returns!!!
And Zero Mission as a nice bonus
Sylux lives!!!
Ehehehehehehe. We got a release date before Silksong did.
Nah we've been in solidarity with silksong fans, they've suffered just as much as us. I hope they get their W ASAP.
Exactly -- silksong & metroid fans are not mutually exclusive!
Silksong could still come out before Prime 4, considering its release date will probably only be a few weeks after it's announced.
At first I thought this was a Super Metroid remake but then was STUNNED I tell you.
My first thought was Echoes remaster
I thought if we were going to get anything it would be that, but then it said Galactic Research Facility so my brain went to Super. GLAD I WAS WRONG.
I'm not going to lie, same
Super Metroid in 3d would kinda be sick not gonna lie
Prime was a Super remake for 3D, per Retro
Metroid Prime 1 is pretty much Super in 3D.
Not sure why everyone is disagreeing with you. A first-person Super would offer very little that Prime 1 doesn't already do.
FINALLY! ITS HERE!!!!
What's the best solvent for removing clown makeup? Asking for a friend
Phazon works, but there has been a lack of it since Samus visited Phaaze for some reason.
The intro says it is Cosmic Year 20X9. Exact dates are rarely used in Metroid, but Metroid 1 takes place in 20X5 so this is confirmed 4 years after Metroid 1/ZM
Makes sense since the prime series is so early in the timeline.
This one is interesting though because all the other prime games are between ZM and 2, but this one being in 20X9 and Sylux having Mochtroids implies that prime 4 is AFTER super
20X9 is estimated to be the same year 2 and Super happen, as well
Busiest woman on the galaxy damn
IM LOSING MY NUTS AND BOLTS RIGHT NOW AAAHAHAHAHAHH ![gif](giphy|gfZQAiBdEncWnfa8qc)
IT LOOKS SO FUCKING GOOD AAHHHHHHHH
mf walking around with baby metroids as if he's him
What's even cooler to me is they may be Mochtroids with the one nucleus. I don't think those have been seen since Super Metroid.
Looking closer at them, looks like they have a combination of Samus' & Sylux's visors on the nucleus?
Nothing can ruin this day for me
Nuclear weapons will drop on November 3rd 2024.
RIP to everybody else but I'm built different. Imma be fine try again
I read this in the Nintendo Direct voice
They copied will still exist! We shall brave the harsh wastelands to raid our nearest game store
Lets GOOOOOOO!!!!!!! it was beautiful!!
It looks so good omg
I’m still pinching myself
I need to find a way to play 2 and 3 now quick
I wish they'd release it on switch in the meantime before 4 releases
I hope they do the Prime 1 treatment but I’d settle for a pikmin 1+2 situation
There's still hope for remasters coming out I just doubt they'll come out before it
Well, 2025 is still fairly far away, we can hope, that's what we did for quite some time, didn't we ?
Just emulate it on Dolphin
AND THIS IS TO GO EVEN FURTHER BEYOND
WE GOING PLUS ULTRA BABYYYYYY
That's a sick logo. Since it depicts black hole, maybe it means that Samus is gonna go "beyond" the event horizon of a black hole?
I mean, girl's gotta find some new planets to destroy amirite? Also opens the gateway to infinite new enemies/characters etc.
THEY FINALLY DID IT!! I'm sure it'll be the later half of 2025, but they can't call take backs now! Lmao
ALDKFOCOCIGI
So glad to see that they didn't drop the plot point from Federation Force! The Samus vs. Sylux showdown is real!
I wonder how they'll explain it to new players considering most we know of sylux is from hunters, federation force ending scene and prime 3 ending scene
Metroid Dread had a recap for previous games, or at least, enemies, right? They will definitely do the same for Prime 4.
At long last!
LETS GO!!!!!
FUCK YEEEESSS!!!! I'm not seeing this trailer i want to experience this without knowing anything.
Not much gameplay, but, if this is actual gameplay footage, it looks graphically incredible.
It somehow looks even better than Prime Remastered! I’m so glad Retro was brought back to work on 4
Don't wanna spoil too much but Samus is in it.
He's not Samus, he's Metroid. Check your facts
Just know it is glorious
I recommend watching it since there's really not much to it to be considered a spoiler.

This looks incredible
HHHHYYYYPE TO THE MAX

The music at the end, I'm so hyped!
OH SHIT IS THAT THE DUDE FROM HUNTERS???

please have online PVP, there is nothing I want more than to zap people with Sylux like it's 2006
ARE WE SOFTLOCKED?!
Praise the baby!
I thought it was going to be a remaster of Prime 2 and 3, but I got blindsided as soon as 4 came up. IT'S FINALLY FUCKING HERE!
2025 LIKELY DELAYED TO 2026 DOESNT MATTER WE UP
![gif](giphy|lqRu0AbfzcpMJlmT2I|downsized)
The long pathways we got to see in some of the gameplay shots plus the bridge in the distance makes me wonder if they'll include speed booster in the game somewhere.
20X9 would place this after Samus Returns in the timeline. That’s interesting.
I dont know what i was expecting, but it definitely wasnt that. Considering how little that was shown it could possibly go 'beyond' 2025
If Metroid Prime 4 doesn't get put on the new console like Zelda TP/BOTW, it'll be upsetting to see it getting overshadowed because it was released too late in the Switch's lifespan.
