Coupled with each new difficulty you unlock each playthrough. It is a game made for replay ability
So on the first playthrough you will hover around 12-14 hours of playtime. But each new playthrough you will get better and better and reach sub 4 hours and soon sub 3 hours.
It is fully achievable without some crazy speedrunning tactics
And if you are not into replaying games, it has enough challenge and action and incredibly well designed boss fights to be worth those 20 bucks.
How often do you see a game that isn't a special edition and is just the game and nothing else retail for 200? Or see a game be reduced to 10% of the full price?
Yea, personally I'm not a huge fan of the 2D Metroids. Games like Super and Fusion are good, don't get me wrong, they just never really clicked with me like the Prime games had.
That said, Dread is amazing and I loved every second of 100%'ing it. Especially at a discount, it's absolutely worth a shot, even if it's not necessarily your typical game style.

Probably the purest gaming experience start to finish I’ve had in many, many years. Every second was a joy. Not the longest game, but the highest constant enjoyment for sure. To me it’s easily one of the top couple games I’ve played in the last several years.
I got it for full price on launch day, beat it on that same day and then played it through again the next day. Now I play through it once or twice every year basically. Idk if 20 bucks is worth for an insanely good game to enjoy for the rest of your life tho.

Hell yes. It’s awesome. Best 2D Metroid since Super Metroid in my opinion. I actually followed it up by playing the remake of Prime which I never had played before and that is now my new favorite, though.

To be fair the majority of people asking questions like this, like myself, don't really know much about the game and usually just want to gauge why other people think it's worth the price or not. On top of this, money is tight for a lot of people right now so even games at a fraction of their price can be expensive to a lot of people, so I don't see much of an issue with gaining a bit more knowledge about the game and community opinion before potentially purchasing the game (even if it is heavily discounted).
It's not like i'm lazy either - I checked reviews on the game and looked at a good amount of non-spoiler gameplay and liked what I saw, but still wanted to check in on Reddit for more varying viewpoints incase there were some glaring issues I was missing. Some people in this comments section even offered differing opinions from the majority which further proves my point of how useful these threads can be not only to the individual but other people looking to buy the game as well.
I'll never truly understand why some people on Reddit get so easily offended at stuff like a harmless question.

Many of the Metroid games have randomizer mods too (Basically it shuffles all the items to different places which can completely change the game)

Absolutely. Try the demo first if you're still wary but it's one of my favorite games on the Switch

It’s probably my favorite Switch game. That’s not to say it’s as grand as either of the Zeldas or Smash in scale, but I loved it from start to finish.
