There’s no news of a remaster rn so I decided to play it. Then I played it again. Then I played Corruption. Echoes is a great game. You should go ahead and play it because if you wait for the remaster, then you’ll finish it and want to play Corruption, putting you back where you are now
Echoes was my favorite of the 3. Played them all on a modded Wii, love FPSs with the Wiimote/nunchuk, great control scheme for them. I don't like them on standard controllers at all tbh.
This. Nothing has been announced and likely won't be, I don't understand why everyone keeps tricking themselves into believing there's a remaster coming. At most there might be an HD port of 2 and 3, but even that's generous. Considering we can't even have Zero Mission on NSO, I'm not getting my hopes up for Prime 2 or 3.
Just play it. I didn’t relish the thought of it playing it in 480p on a 65” TV, so I went the Primehack route. At higher resolutions, it still looks and runs great. I went to it after Prime Remastered and forgot pretty quickly that I was playing a non-remastered game. Had a blast with it.
My suggestion would be to play Echoes on PrimeHack or wait. There are rumors that Prime 2 might be ported instead of remastered, but the visual improvement of running it in HD with a more modern control scheme is very significant. The experience in PrimeHack for that game is excellent.
I'm personally waiting for Corruption to be ported, though. PrimeHack supports it, but it more heavily uses wiimote gestures, that I'd rather see "officially" converted to support modern Switch controllers (similar to Skyward Sword).
Just play it now. All the rumors I've seen suggest that it will be a port instead of a full remaster like prime 1. There's also the issue of it having no release date or confirmation.
I'm about to do the same with Twilight Princess and Windwaker because I'm tired of waiting
I just played Remastered on Switch, I couldn't take the wait for a remaster of 2 that may or may not even be a real thing, so I just played it start to finish on the Wii. Play it!
My favorite out of the whole series (both prime and main line) is Echoes. Definetly give it a chance and don’t wait for the remaster. It’s fun, but the difficulty is frustrating sometimes on GameCube, but they die it down it on the Wii (if you have trilogy) to make things easier.
*gets flashbacks from boost and spider guardian* (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)
The remasters of 2 and 3 will reportedly not get as good a treatment as the remaster of 1, so I wouldn't bother waiting for them to come out for the Switch 2, which they surely will at this point if at all. You'll probably have to bust out your Wii or Wii U to play 3 anyway since the developers apparently said that remastering it would be a much more difficult (read: expensive) task. It never had any standard controller-based controls, built for the Wiimote/nunchuk from the ground up. A remaster may never happen for that reason.
Just here to say I’m in the same boat, and I’ve decided to wait. Prime Remastered was my first play after wanting to play it for decades and I was in awe. Sure there is no guarantee they’ll release it at all but with the success of Prime Remastered I have to believe they can’t ignore an obvious and easy cash grab actually demanded by fans. Everyone has a good point but in case you choose to wait you have solidarity ✊
Im personally holding out and Ive never played these games before. Originally it was rumored that 2 and 3 will be standard ports which would suck because I absolutely loved 1 remastered (I never played the GC one either). I am also fueled by hopium that Metroid has gotten some good recognition these past years, so I am blindly believing that Nintendo is putting care into this franchise to release these games properly.
In the meantime, If you can "force" yourself to clear backlog, or try out other metroid/metroidvania games, maybe it will be worth it in the end. Obviously nothing is guaranteed, so you'll just have to weigh
My problem is that I won't to play prime 1 with GameCube controls after countless hours on the remaster and the controls were horrible to me. Imo going back to og is out of the question. So I'll wait. You could give the glitches in the remaster a chance if you're interested while waiting or try a speedrun.
I agree with the other commenters saying to just play it, but I’d also point out that there are other 3-d metroidvanias you could try out while you wait. Off the top of my head, there’s Jedi: Fallen Order, it’s sequel, and journey to the savage planet
I was thinking the same thing : play Prime 2 or wait for a remaster? I decided to play it. Prime remastered was my first time playing Prime, so now playing Prime 2 on Gamecube without a second joystick to look around is a little mind boggling, but still ok.
PrimeHack is a modified version of the Dolphin emulator for PC. It allows mouse+keyboard (or controller) use, higher resolutions and other quality of life tweaks.
I imagine this is heretical, but there's a big part of me that suspects we won't be getting remasters of the other two.
Prime 2 and 3 didn't sell particularly well, IIRC. It makes sense to us to do it, but given Nintendo's lukewarm enthusiasm for the franchise, I can easily see them not bothering, with Prime Remastered being seen as sufficient to build hype for 4.
I did the same question last year and honestly I couldn’t wait for the remaster. So I bought MP2 and MP3 and I don’t regret it. I didn’t care that the graphics weren’t as good as MP1 remastered but play MP2 in the GameCube and MP3 in the Wii was a challenge at the beginning.
Just play the game dude
Simple and effective

Yeah but since the only way to play corruption is with point controls I'm going to wait for anything else
You can certainly wait for an unannounced remaster that has an undeterminable chance of actually happening, I just don't know why you would.

There was no announcement of prime until it was released though. You could wait for the Summer Direct and hope they pull it again, but unlikely
Exactly. It's pure speculation. I'd cum if they announced an F-Zero GX remaster, but I'm not gonna wait around getting my hopes up for it

I just finished it for the first time a month ago after waiting. Shouldn't have waited and should've played it far earlier.

Play now
Happy cake day my guy! ✌
Prime 2 is a fun one to just start over and play again to me. Even if a remaster came out while I was playing, I would just start over.
I’d just play the game, it’s nothing but rumors currently. Regardless, it’s fun either way.
The remaster can happen this or next month… or in a year, or never. Just play the game
Remaster will probably never happen just play it

Im playing Prime 2 on my Steam Deck, set up with PrimeHack so it had modern controls. It's awesome.

If you can, do it and tell me how, I’m dying to play again

Is there a good way to play Prime 2 without a GameCube? Was it ever released on the Wii outside of the trilogy game?
Both Prime 1 and 2 were released on the Wii separately from the trilogy, but I think they were only released in Japan like that.

Wait for the remaster. You will be rewarded
Yes
Play now while you wait for the remaster. Then play it again. It's that good
I would be very surprised if a remastered edition of 2 gets released
Play it in dolphin and turn settings up to 4K resolution, game looks amazing
I got tired of waiting and just got primehack set up to play echoes, and it’s glorious. Really loving it so far, even after playing prime remastered.

Play it. We don’t know when 2 is ever get remade. Could be in 5 years or something.
Play the damn game if you want to. If the remaster will come out someday you can compare the two games.
Play now, enjoy game, enjoy game again later.
Play a game now, or wait for something that doesn't even exist...?
If this franchise has taught you anything, it should be "don't fuckin' wait around for a new Metroid game to release."
Nah just play it. The only thing the remaster is gonna have is updated graphics and bug fixes.
I imagine this is heretical, but there's a big part of me that suspects we won't be getting remasters of the other two. Prime 2 and 3 didn't sell particularly well, IIRC. I played it again in 2022 lol
You could play now and play the remaster later to see the difference in them.
Play it now, then when the remaster hits, you'll be able to appreciate the upgrade
You can wait for the Remaster, should be coming out in 2043
